I have never heard so charged a performance of this piece - it was a truly heroic effort by all. Of course, it's Daniel Rodriguez, a real operatic talent. And remember, unlike the Percy of the musical, Rodriguez has to sing the entire "aria" himself without a pause for the ensemble to give him a moment's rest. What strength!
Finally someone has done something for this book/musical/movie. It's so underrated and I'm sad. This is incredible though, I loved it! Personally I prefer Douglas Sills' version of this song, but this man is an amazing singer as well.
May I add that I love these combinations of music from the play and well chosen snippets from the 1982 film. I enjoy placing each moment in its place in the story, knowing what came before and what comes after. And of course, the impeccable performance by Daniel Rodriguez heightens the excitement.

I am a great Scarlet Pimpernel fan, I know the books by heart, and the 1982 film (not at all the 1999 series). But I don't like the musical, this music bores me. I much prefer the music in the 1982 film.
