No need for patching past 17/18 it won’t make a diff. Recent research that has come out has shown that the same amount of vision recovery can be achieved with 1 hour of patching a day ….. sorry you had to do several😂😂😂
I didnt understand how can fovea compare with nasal retina and lose ..isnt fovea the brightest spot with more amts of cones? So foveal omage of esotropic eye should be more bright than that formed on temporal retina@@InsightOphthalmology
I was diagnosed at 2 years old, after my mother saw me walk into things and fall down stairs. Wore the patch for a few years, then my vision improved. My amblyopia returned in my 20’s. I now feel like I’m 2 yo again, walking into things, and falling down stairs, and for some reason my brain doesn’t get the information from my eye, I have a hard time finding things, because my brain doesn’t get the information.
@@AK-zw3yz I haven’t had my eyes checked for 5 years because of Covid, and money. I am supposed to go every year. The last time my eyes were checked I have 4 diopter almost 5 diopter vision, but it’s worse now, so I need a new prescription. My Amblyopic eye is worse, also have astigmatism and myopia.
My vision in my lazy eye was not blurred. Maybe a little out of focus and had gray, motled dots. However, I could not read with that eye. Letters looked scrambled and small. I had cataract surgery, and know I can read large font. Everything looked crisp, until I had a reaction to ketolorac eye drops and my cornea swelled. Objects still look good after using Muro drops.
Mam one doubt..u said in the start that amblyopia is loss of vision with out any physical cause in the eye..but then u also told that there are causes like cataract n all which cause this ..?
Amblyopia is basically a diagnosis of exclusion. If there is any cause of poor visual acuity, one needs to correct that cause and after the correction, if vision is still poor then one can consider Amblyopia. Cataract is a cause of poor vision and uncorrected poor vision during developmental years due to any cause is causally related to Amblyopia. So as long as cataract is present , we cannot call it Amblyopia ( although cataract can cause Amblyopia) After removal of cataract, if the patient's vision doesn't improve, we can label it as vision deprivation amblyopia
My question is about anisometropic amblyopia. We know the difference between 2.5D or more is defined anisometropic amblyopia. If a patient having one eye -2 and another -5 . If he can read upto 6/6 line then that is also anisometropic amblyopia? Plz explain
didn't understand the role of VEP in Morfological retinal damage. as I know vep gives visual cortex abnormalities information. how I know the Morfological retinal damage?

No, if the patient doesnot improve with pinhole.. It means that the cause of decreased vision is not refractive... However there could be other causes causing the decreased vision... It is amblyopia if we do not find any obvious ophthalmic disease attributing to vision loss
