    Nice guide, thank you! You have good production, good diction, solid content. Might want to try and be slightly more to the point to keep the viewers attention.

      Oh, Past Me and I had a long talk after I finished editing today's video.
      I honestly think the humor adds to the presentation but this will be the last time I spend longer editing than recording.

      @@TooTechnicalDev I'm only talking in terms of it being a starter guide, it had too much banter. For a playthrough it was great. Also, would love to hear what the meta mechs are, what weapons etc. I didn't notice you mentioned hey, this mech is one of the better, hey got the phoenix hawk, it's rather crap. Would love to hear more what is really good, and what to keep :)

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But "what is really good, what to keep", etc is wholly subjective and playing meta builds is unnecessary once you have the proficiency...

    To bounce off a video RT game made, you are one of the best TH-cam I know, in a good way.

      I very much appreciate the compliment. I try to always put my heart in everything I do (on YT and elsewhere) and I always have the policy that if I decide to do something I at least make my best effort to do it right.

      I would be outright lying if I tried to pretend I didn't both need and enjoy the break after over a year of more than one video on average per day. Definitely just sticking to Roguetech for the forseeable future, but time spent FOR SCIENCE is "worth it" by default.

    What’s funny is that Locust is still better than the primitive farm ‘mechs that I started with on my first playthrough. I’d love to have one instead of my Cattlemasters.

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Oh absolutely better than an agro mech, but I'll never forget that my youthful rationale was "locusts suck" instead of "maybe I'm not using my light mech in a tactically wise method"

    Hows the performance nowadays? A few years ago I used to not even see my shots connect because of the stutter and the loading into and out of missions took forever

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Perhaps someone else is better suited to answer. I haven't played Roguetech since the last upload.
      (But in case no one else responds: performance improved steadily from the vanilla release throughout the entirety of RT's development, sometimes taking hits when new systems were implemented before they finished troubleshooting)

    Hi, thx for the video, i was waiting for this :) but i only got access to a 360p quality here, weird, is it ?

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Strange. TH-cam usually finishes processing the HD within like 20-30 minutes of the SD version (and it won't go live if the SD didn't finish processing)... On my end TH-cam says it's finished. Have you tried reloading the web page or restarting the app? (I also sometimes have videos I'm watching stuck at SD or without audio until I force quit the app and relaunch)

    • @afp75
      @afp75 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      this could be a TH-cam thing his videos tend to be360 all the way up to 1080p+

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, I actually just checked on my phone and yeah, it's showing only SD for me as well (outside of the creator interface)...

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just tried setting it to private then back to public. If it's not at 1080p in about 30 min-1 hour from that toggle I'll have to try something else but yes, it should be 1080p (that's what I record and upload at) so I'm not sure what's wrong with it.

    • @maximusj108

      @@TooTechnicalDev ok great thanks for yours actions, let's wait at least 1h and hopefully get it a 1080p :)

    What about putting a large laser on the mech and utilizing the high mobility to act as a flanker? Would that question be based more on its heat delta?

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  ปีที่แล้ว

      Speed takes tonnage, heat takes tonnage, weapons take tonnage, armor takes tonnage. It's a balancing act and depends more on what you have available, what you need at present, and how much time you're willing to spend on it.
      Also the hotter a mech gets the slower it goes.

    I just recently installed BattleTech advanced 2025 and its kicking my ass and I love it ..i love the Depth and complexity of this game where choices have meaning, I even bought the BattleTech miniature's game and had tro 239 printed to better understand this game soon soon i look forward to rouge tech

    • @TooTechnicalDev

      I would dare say Roguetech is the definitively best way to experience the Battletech setting, much less the best mod for this particular game in the universe.
      I appreciate the simpler variation Harebrained Schemes made for its introducing people to the universe, but if the mod community hadn't stepped up big I would have been very frustrated that it would've been little more than that.
      The modders literally made it my favorite game of all time.

      I will absolutely be starting Challenge Run MkIII within the next couple weeks, but so far I haven't decided whether to use the Amaris Civil War map or the 3080 map.

  • @MeanGun
    @MeanGun ปีที่แล้ว

    First order of business, always, is to armor up. Even if you have to drop weapons for it. You will thank the gods of RT later.

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  ปีที่แล้ว

      Or, y'know, git gud? XD

    • @MeanGun

      @@TooTechnicalDev To elaborate a bit: It is unlikely (not impossible) to get a new/better mech in your first mission. So you will have to armor up at some point. Why not do it right away? Yes, you will lose half a month, but it is far more time consuming to repair structure damage after a mission. Not speaking of potential loss of equipment because of crits. "Getting good" is a big part of RT, but yeah, you know it is RT after all. Overgunning and underarmoring seems to be what most new players do and what is the biggest mistake imo. And yes, if you need tonnage for armor jumpies are the first thing to go.

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  ปีที่แล้ว

      My facetious reply was a shorthand for the point that armor isn't objectively the best.

  • @shawnadams1460
    @shawnadams1460 ปีที่แล้ว

    Look, always ALWAYS drop some JJ for more armor. I get that they can be useful, but survivability always trumps them. That should always be done 1st step before advancing IMO, plus its quick and doesn't take much $$. I just started my first RogueTech playthrough three days ago and damn its brutal....but I LOVE IT!!! Gonna be watching your playthrough now to see what I missed and how to make my eventual second playthrough a bit more streamlined.

    • @TooTechnicalDev
      @TooTechnicalDev  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While dropping jump jets for armor is *an* option, it's not objectively better than any other option and the extra time is not necessary at the start of a playthrough when dropping on 1.5 skull or lower missions.
      Roguetech is definitely an experience like no other. Good luck on your playthroughs!

    it took me a month and a half to get my mechs ready to go. Flew to 3 different systems to find the right gear. playing at 1.87 difficulty.
    no contracts for a month and a half. spending cash. Started right off doing 2-skull missions.
    First thing you do is Max Armor. No missile weapons. No jump jets. Fly around until you find AMS systems. Install them. Never fear again.
    If you can find a Light Gauss Gun, buy it. Large Lasers? Buy 'em.
    NEVER sprint to get to a battle. Move carefully. Let the enemy come to you. Gang them from a distance with the Gauss or Large Lasers or both.

      @@WanderingOldGuy Very specific commentary like that is likely to be invalidated by any significant changes (like the current missile adjustments the modders are working on in January 2025)
