I have thousands of hours in Battletech/Roguetech and I never knew that I could use the ALT key to drop units individually! That's why I am watching; so thanks.
I have over 600 hours (yes a noob compared to you) in roguetech and I still feel there is so much I haven't seen. I pick up little tidbits from your videos that are either new to me or just a good reminder. I have spent almost zero time in the periphery faction systems because I've heard their mechs & tech are inferior. Are there any rare mech gems these factions have that would be fun to try and hunt down? One of many questions that I ponder lol
Inferior in the sense that their lasers need ammo? Periphery tech is less of a downgrade from IS tech and more of a midgrade between IS "yeah, it works exactly as intended" and pirate "it will destroy something guaranteed... that something just might be *your* mech" wackiness. I'll definitely be traveling to periphery space at some point in the comprehensive guide series to at least demonstrate how you can recover from a wipe (that I may intentionally cause for edutainment purposes) and to have this exact discussion in depth. Edit: to be clear the periphery tech gear and weapons isn't what makes periphery states "easier", it's the lower quality mechs. Primitive armor and structure have a fraction of the points that standard armor and structure do, so the same PPC shot that wouldn't open your mediums will open theirs.
@@TooTechnicalDev I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear. I was mainly talking about mechs. Are there any unique chassis for each periphery factions that are worth "farming"? Just curious as it would provide a reason, at least for me, to go to these systems.
Primitive chassis have four major benefits: 1) They're easier to get while you're still dropping mechs of a lower tonnage 2) You can install non-primitive components to negate everything that made them bad including clan upgrades so you can power spike very hard with them 3) They're cheaper. Much cheaper. Build a primitive heavy, repair it for the price of a light, then install clan tech. You still end up with a heavy mech with clan tech but you saved a load of Cbills skipping over standard structure, armor, cockpit, etc repairs. Further, since the base chassis was garbage tier your drop costs with the same effectiveness and gear as a clan-upgraded IS heavy is actually lower dud to drop cost multipliers. 4) Most notably: A lot of primitive mechs have more hard points than IS chassis of the same tonnage since they usually bring lighter weapons but more of them ie rockets, rifles, etc.

Happy to help! Also happy to know people are still finding value so long after I put the time into these videos!
27:36 THAT’S how you do it! I never could figure out how to single-drop when I was playing. Thanks for explaining it!
Happy to help!
Greatly enjoying the series!
I am honestly surprised to hear the word "enjoying", but it is a pleasant surprise. XD
