What all these lovies, who claim to care about the environment, fail to grasp is that travelling at 20mph causes around 30-40% MORE exhaust emissions than travelling at 30mph does. I worked it out using my daily runabout (which is a 2024 plate, up to date 'efficient' engined car) that it both requests, via a dashboard indicator, and can do 30mph in 5th gear. However, once I drop to 20mph it 'requests' I drop to 3rd gear as 4th doesn't have the required torque. I am presuming most modern vehicles would act in a similar fashion. The engine revs at 30mph in 5th is considerably lower than the revs at 20mph in 3rd so is burning more fuel and exhausting more waste into the air. Add to that the fact that at 30mph each mile takes 2 minutes to travel whereas at 20mph it takes 3 minutes this means that each vehicle is pumping out MORE exhaust per mile. Of course, this comment deals in common sense so will probably get deleted by YT like it normally does.

Yesterday I passed 2 cyclists (in a 30 zone) riding erractically at 10pm with no lights. 2 police vans went carefully round them. I didn't think the police would stop and do anything about them. I was once fined for riding without a light.

20mph not only impedes progress, it isn't environmentally good because it means using more fuel and puts more wear on the mechanical components of the car. As for safety. more pedestrians a likely to take a risk and walk infront of a "slow miving vehicle" and cyclists the same. 20mph is punishment and a scam, nothing more and nothing less.
We attend carnivals like this to experience other people's culture...the foreign food, the flamboyant dress, the exciting music, the eye-catching dancing.

The 20mph zones in my area have made me stop cycling to work and get back in my car as I don't want to sit in rain in these zones.

What all these lovies, who claim to care about the environment, fail to grasp is that travelling at 20mph causes around 30-40% MORE exhaust emissions than travelling at 30mph does.
I worked it out using my daily runabout (which is a 2024 plate, up to date 'efficient' engined car) that it both requests, via a dashboard indicator, and can do 30mph in 5th gear. However, once I drop to 20mph it 'requests' I drop to 3rd gear as 4th doesn't have the required torque. I am presuming most modern vehicles would act in a similar fashion.
The engine revs at 30mph in 5th is considerably lower than the revs at 20mph in 3rd so is burning more fuel and exhausting more waste into the air. Add to that the fact that at 30mph each mile takes 2 minutes to travel whereas at 20mph it takes 3 minutes this means that each vehicle is pumping out MORE exhaust per mile.
Of course, this comment deals in common sense so will probably get deleted by YT like it normally does.

They used to recruit officers from the army back in the day, not any more. Now they recruit from university. No matter how small, skinny, fat, unfit you are, you’re in, especially ethnic minorities. There is a carnival in Toronto called the carabana it used to be celebrated in the streets because of trouble caused by people from all walks of life it was stopped in the streets and ended up in a stadium that was back in the 90s
