An old colleague of mine was the on set photographer for Dune, and I have been enjoying many of her photographs from principal photography for the last couple of years. So it’s nice to see the book basically celebrating her work!

The best coffee table book is, "The Coffee Table Book of Coffee Tables" by Kramer

I read Invincible in that format this year, and it easily became my favorite piece of media ever. What an epic story, and an awesome set to have on your shelf.

The art and soul of dune is accompanied with the Zimmer soundtrack of the same name. You are supposed to listen to it while reading the Art and soul of dune.

I got "The Art and Making of Control" earlier this year and it's a beautiful book. The art of that game is crazy and it even comes with like 3 or 4 little art prints that you can frame. My only complaint with it is a little gimmick in the text where random words are "redacted" and scribbled out with sharpie. It's a neat touch but it does seem to just be random words so it can get a little annoying to read at times.

Not sure if you are aware Norm, in NYC there is a great book store called Books of Wonder with a healthy amount of pop up books. Haven’t been there in a few years. Mainly aimed at kids but if you are ever in town might be worth a visit.

A Dune 'sequel' is on the cards but if it ends there it would be a real shame, the Atredies are a monstrous family once the dust settles

Hi Norm, I always look forward to your book review as you always come up with topics which I gave z great interest in.
Seeing all those photos of scenes from the films really stimulates my desire to get a tour of the Expanse studios here in Toronto. That eill provably not happen.
I too love Mobious style and thd Star wars art allows us to step into a scene.
Great collection and choices and thanks for sharing

Can always count on Norm for the coffee table book inspo! Still really into TO:KY:OO and now thinking I am definitely going to pick up the Dune book. As a film sound guy at heart, the film blew me away but I also completely fell in love with the visuals and the overall style, so will be a great addition!

Great selection of books! There is so many interesting publications every year, there is a niche channel to make and to have (talking about books on cinema).
A detail for the «Dune» book, Tanya Lapointe is also Denis’s wife. The magnifying images for Fantastic Four is a great idea to see all the details of the drawings.
Amazing intricate work done for those pop-ups! Happy holidays!

@adam savage, i have a tip for you that may be of help, the plastic 500ml coke bottles are excellent at storing solvent based paint for a long time.
i worked in the auto trade and have had solvent paint stored in them from the old mixing scheme for 10+ years,
the bottles are solvent resistant and dont break when you drop them, the ones i have had in tins or jars have had the resin/thinners evaporate away but the ones in the plastic coke bottles have the same amount of volume in them.
paint is one of those items like glues that can dry up over along time if its something that you use infrequently, just a tip if you looking for a solution, bare in mind they would be less flame resistant but if you need it to be that flame prome chances are the rest of the shop is f'ked anyway.......

I love this channel... during this video I was thinking about what would I put under such topic: "favorite things". Everyone have something for sure. And please do not take it as an ill attempt at picking at him, but it sure looks someone has a lot to spend. :D What kind of amazing art and tools would I spend such fortune?! Ohh gosh... such a great exercise of self-knowledge.
Again, please don't take my statement as an offence. Everyone spends their money on whatever they want !
Also for the other commenters: what would you spend all the money if you'd have a better salary? And don't think about like winning the lottery. Such add some extra % to that paycheck ;)
For me... ohh gosh... swords, probably. I'm a big sucker for historical european martial arts. :3

I have British model railways which I have collected over the last number of years plus I have a layout.
I also gave various books on art, film etc, a few Blasters from Blade Runner, a working light sabre and a few other odds and ends which I display in Billy shelve units like the ones Adam has.

    • @NemesZoltan87
      @NemesZoltan87 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@charlie1872 that is truly a cool collection there! My dad got us kids some railway models with a full on track and such. It was pretty nice, but in the long-run, it didn't stick. Guess I have a bit different genre going on. But daaaaaamn that Blade Runner blaster... I feel the envy now. :D Awesome stuff you got!
My hoard consist 7 feder swords, a blunt longsword and a saber. But I consider all of them under use, as I give them for new fencers to practice with. :3 Nice to see how the grow in their skills... until they beat me. Which just happened yesterday :'D I'm happy... and everything hurts.
People of the interwebs, give us moarrh! Let us see how cool you all are! :D

8:45 Best not watch the Disney documentaries. Theyre awful. The same over-the-top style as Movies That Made Us. Avoid.
