Hi there 👋 Both your physical and digital cards are linked to your Wise account. So as long as you've money in your account, you can use either card to make payments. If you're holding the local currency of where you're using the card, you can pay directly with that currency free of charge. And when you don't have the local currency, we use Smart Conversion to pay with the other currencies you hold. Hi Lisa. Your Wise Card is connected to your balances, so no extra steps are needed to get money onto your card. Just follow the steps here: wi.se/addmoneytoyourbalances, and once the money has been deposited, you’re ready to spend with your card. That being said, Wise is a digital platform, which offers services exclusively through the Wise desktop site and app. That means you can’t add money to your account with cash, checks or other physical deposit methods. Hi, Karyn! You can use your debit or credit card to pay for your Wise transfers, but sometimes you might get an error. If I'm traveling to China, and I have funds in both US and China currency in my Wise account, and I made a purchase in China using the Wise Card, the transaction will deduct from my US or China currency automatically or I need to choose which currency to be the default payment in China?
Hello there. When you pay using your Wise card, you'll automatically spend in the local currency. Since you have funds in Chinese Yuan (CNY), Wise will use that balance first for transactions in China. If you don't have enough CNY in your account, our Smart Conversion technology will convert the balance with the lowest fee-likely from your USD balance. Learn more here: wi.se/spendincurrencyidonthave Also, it's free to spend if you have the currency in your account, but if not, there'll be a conversion fee. It may be because I am from Argentina, but Wise does not provide me with account details Using the other method to add funds to wise, can I load money using paypal?
To receive money, you'll need to have account details and open a balance in one of the supported currencies. You can find the list of supported currencies here: wi.se/balancecurrencies Please note, you can only open a balance if you live in a country where the Wise balance is available. Check the availability in your country here: wi.se/balanceavailability Currently, we have made some changes to how our customers can use our services in Argentina. That means, you won't be able to receive money directly to your Wise account for now. This also means you won't be able to add money to your Wise account using PayPal. Hope this clarifies things. Is it always free to transfer £s from my UK bank account (via standard bank transfer) to my wise GBP balance? Or are there fees under certain circumstances? Normally my UK bank account lets me pay people via bank transfer for free.

I'm so confused. I've watched multiple videos and checked out the help center online but it's very unclear how much it costs to add money from a US bank account to a wise account in USD. I expect it to be free honestly cuz why wouldn't it be? But I'm starting to feel like it's not for some reason?
Hi Ben 👋 We always want to help you send money with as little fees as possible. The transfer fees depend on a few factors, such as the currencies, amount and payment method. If you're adding money to USD from a US bank account to your USD Wise balance, we charge a low fee and you can simulate the transfer fees here: wi.se/ourfees, by selecting receive and add money.
Hi there - thanks for reaching out. In order to get a card and account details, you'd need to create an account with us. Personal Wise accounts can't be opened in joint names, but you can use a joint bank account to fund a transfer, or add money to your Wise account. You can learn more here: wi.se/jointacc-wiseblog. Please also note, the Wise card is currently available almost everywhere, but there are some limitations and restrictions. You can find more info about where we offer this product, here: wi.se/cardavailability. If your country isn't listed, so please be sure to add your info to our wait list: wi.se/joincardwaitlist. This is the same case with the ability to add, hold and receive money into your Wise account - multi-currency accounts are available according to the region your account is registered in. However, at the moment we don't provide them in countries other than those listed here: wi.se/balanceavailability. Please feel free to reach out to us over on social media for more help. This can be on X/Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, or alternatively through this link: wi.se/contactus - we're there to help!
Hi there - thanks for reaching out. If you want to link your Wise account with PayPal, all you need to do is: - Log into your PayPal account - Click Add bank account or Card - Click Link bank account - Enter your Wise account details (EUR, GBP or USD) - Click Confirm PayPal will then send 2 small deposits to your Wise account details - it usually takes 1-2 working days to arrive. Once you’ve received them, just log in to PayPal again and enter the deposit amount into the verification box. You can learn more here: wi.se/paypal-wise, and here: wi.se/paypal-link-info. Keep in mind, PayPal only accepts account details if the currency matches the registered PayPal account country. For example, they’ll accept GBP details when the address is in the UK. So in this case, be sure to open a balance and get the account details as required. Also just to note, that your Wise card is linked to your Wise balances, so you'll have access to this money when spending on your card. Please feel free to reach out to us over on social media for more help. This can be on X/Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, or alternatively through this link: wi.se/contactus - we're here to help 💚

No i lived trinidad and have my bank accounts link to it
Right - so I don't load $1,000 on to my virtual card - the $1,000 is available for use by either my virtual or physical card? That's cool. And when buying an airline ticket etc. I just need to make sure that I have enough of the relevant currency in my Wise account before using either card to purchase the ticket? Thanks!
Hey, Paulie. Your Wise card is linked to your currency accounts with us. So, to be able to spend with it, you can add money to your Wise account. Learn how to add money to your Wise account here: wi.se/addmoneytoyourbalances
Once you've added money to your Wise balance, you can pay with your Wise card in most places where debit cards are accepted and withdraw cash from most ATMs: wi.se/whereyoucanuseyourcard
We hope this helps, feel free to DM us on Instagram, X, or Facebook if you've further questions - we'll be happy to help 😊
@@Wise Thanks for all of your help, have been using Wise to transfer between my accounts for years now, and looking forward to using the card too
Love to hear that, Paulie! You can always count on us 🤩
Why is there always an error saying card payment method is unavailable using debit cards? i have 3 different debit cards and it's always an error.
Hi, Karyn! You can use your debit or credit card to pay for your Wise transfers, but sometimes you might get an error. Here are some main reasons:
- Your bank declined the payment
- You received a message about insufficient funds
- Your 3D secure is not working
- You're having browser issues
- Wise declined your payment
We share more specifics about these errors here: wi.se/unsuccessfulcardpayments, so make sure to check it as well. In case you'd like us to have a closer look into this matter from our side, please DM us on Instagram, X or Facebook, or give us a call/email here: wi.se/contactus. We'll be happy to help 🙂
Learn more here: wi.se/spendincurrencyidonthave
Also, it's free to spend if you have the currency in your account, but if not, there'll be a conversion fee. More details on fees here 👉 wi.se/debitcardfees
Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out via our social media private messages (Facebook, Instagram or X) or directly via phone/email/chat here: wi.se/contactus
It may be because I am from Argentina, but Wise does not provide me with account details
Using the other method to add funds to wise, can I load money using paypal?
To receive money, you'll need to have account details and open a balance in one of the supported currencies. You can find the list of supported currencies here: wi.se/balancecurrencies
Please note, you can only open a balance if you live in a country where the Wise balance is available. Check the availability in your country here: wi.se/balanceavailability
Currently, we have made some changes to how our customers can use our services in Argentina. That means, you won't be able to receive money directly to your Wise account for now. This also means you won't be able to add money to your Wise account using PayPal.
Hope this clarifies things. If you have any other questions, feel free to drop us a message on any of our alternative social platforms (e.g., X, Facebook, Instagram) so we can better assist you.
hey wise is this work in Ethiopia?
Hi there - thanks for reaching out. You should be able to open a Wise account in Ethiopia following this link: wi.se/createaccount.
However, new customers residing in Ethiopia currently can't open Wise balances. This means that you can still open an account and send money with Wise, but you can't get account details to receive money into your account from others. The regions and countries listed here: wi.se/balanceavailability, are where we offer this product at the moment.
Here's a little more info on sending money with Wise: wi.se/howtosendmoney.

Is it always free to transfer £s from my UK bank account (via standard bank transfer) to my wise GBP balance? Or are there fees under certain circumstances? Normally my UK bank account lets me pay people via bank transfer for free.
Hi there, Ed.
Yes, it's completely free to transfer GBP to your GBP Wise account, through standard bank transfer.
The transaction would only include fees if it was paid through debit or credit card. More info about this, here: wise.com/gb/pricing/receive

I have some visa gift cards, how would I add those to my account?
Hey, there 👋 If your gift cards have 16 digits number, an expiry date, and CVV/CVC, you can try to use it to make payments. Please take a look at some exceptions here: wi.se/payingbycard
However, we won't be able to guarantee that this type of card payment will work. This is because prepaid/gift cards aren't linked to bank accounts. There's also a chance that you might be charge extra fees by the card issuer.
If it doesn't work, we'd suggest that you use other available payment methods, such as bank transfer: wi.se/payingbybanktransfer Here's the steps to add money to your balance: wi.se/addmoneytoyourbalances

Hi, my husband will be travelling to China soon. Can he take my wise debit card and use it in China?
Hey there. We only offer one physical card per user, and it must be issued in the name of the account holder and used only by the account holder. If your family member would like to have a card, they have to create their own account and order for themselves. See the steps here: wi.se/getthedebitcard
Just to confirm, our card works in China. Once your husband places an order, they can find more info about how to use it here: wi.se/debitcardfaq If they have any questions, they can reach out to us on Instagram, X, or Facebook and PM us 🙂

My bank accounts are in joint names MR & MRS X . What name can I apply for a card/s & a foreign bank account
Can I transfer from my Paypal account to wise card ?
Hi there - thanks for reaching out. If you want to link your Wise account with PayPal, all you need to do is:
- Log into your PayPal account
- Click Add bank account or Card
- Click Link bank account
- Enter your Wise account details (EUR, GBP or USD)
- Click Confirm
PayPal will then send 2 small deposits to your Wise account details - it usually takes 1-2 working days to arrive.
So do I need US account details to pay with my wise card in USD? Or is it possible to transfer some EUR to my USD balance and then pay with it in USD without having US account details?
Hey Maximilian 👋
You don't need USD account details to spend with your Wise card in USD. If you already have money on your EUR balance you can just convert the amount needed to your USD balance. Or if you're looking to add USD while paying with EUR you can follow the steps in this link: wi.se/addmoneytoyourbalances
If you have any more questions you can reach out via DM on our Instagram, Facebook or Twitter/X. We'll be happy to help!

When will we in the US be able to get a digital wise card? And how is it even an issue that we have to wait for more digital cards to be available.
Hi, I understand that having the card is one of the best parts of having a Wise account, but at the moment we're not issuing cards in US, and we don't have a precise time frame to let you know when it will change. If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to help.

I live in Italy and Argentina, and have a PayPal and Payooneer US dollar accounts in Argentina, can I send those USD to Wise account? And I would also want to know if I can receive money from my brother bank account in USA or CANADA.
Hey Pablo! Could you clarify if you’re mainly based in Italy or Argentina? You can only have one residential address on your Wise account, and when verifying, we’ll need a document showing the same address as on your account - more info here: wi.se/verifyyouraddress
If you’re looking to receive money directly to your Wise account, that depends on where you’re currently located, as this feature is only available in certain regions. Here are some helpful links:
