In inFAMOUS Second Son, we learn about how Fetch accidentally killed her brother. So we already had that information going into First Light. despite this, FL told a great story even though the outcome had already been decided. Shane made a good villain, there were plot twists, it was a good prequel.

A thing I liked about Halo Reach is that it focused on a new cast of characters and remained as a self contained story. While the ending with Master Chief being on the Autum contradicts the novel,”Fall of Reach,” overall it didn’t affect anything in the grand scheme of things.
With the MGS V stuff Kojima is a troll that too often gets passes for stuff that other devs will get lambasted for on the internet by the gaming media emesse. I like the MGS series but V did open my eyes to the problems of both Kojima and Konami. First off Konami let all their other good devs leave and put too much behind Kojima I mean didn't the MGS Rising game alarm them to that your teams cannot do much of anything without Kojima? Also he had too much pull in that he at times needed to be reigned in which all to clear with MGSV and its insane budget that amounted to an empty world and inconsistent story. Like you mean to tell me that Liquid could just disguise himself as Miller after Miller lost his arm, leg and sight and that didn't like seem wrong? Gray Fox yeah what happened to him oh wait he was with the real " Big Boss" right same with Sniper Wolf and others. Man the MGSV story is such a mess it cannot even connect itself parasites being the reason for the Cobra unit, Skull-face as "Big Boss's Shadow" oh wait wasn't that character already explored in Portable Ops as Python the Anti-snake. And I know the fandom loves the series and overlooks the flaws as I did but sadly MGSV is a wasted title that added more questions as meant to tie up Big Bosses story but really it makes Big Boss out to be coward.

Exactly. Kojima made some good games but he always needed someone to help him and reign in his crazier ideas. Like how he wanted the sniper fight with The End to last literally 2 real world weeks but that was cut down to make it not suck. MGS4 and V are prime examples of Kojima doing what he wants with no restraints, and the results were horrendous. MGSV is easily one of the worst stories in the entirety of the franchise and a mess of a game. It pretty much managed to forcibly retcon and contradict almost every game in the franchise, even competing with MGS4 in that regard. If he wasn't Kojima he'd be laughed at like David Cage for making MGSV but so many people want to solely blame Konami and ignore how Kojima wasted years and millions of dollars on what turned out to be crappy fanfiction.
While Zero was being made for N64 as far as we know that game back then was completely unrelated to what ended up coming out so it's really hard to say they have no excuse when we don't even know what that older version was about and we do know it was for sure changed but to what extent and the context of said changes we the consumer do not know.
the knight of the old is actually a good prequel establishing the Jedi/Sith war that was mentioned in Episode 1 and also establishing origns for the two factions

Arkham origins is my favorite prequel because it complements the rest of Arkham series as a whole, I say that because, and I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, the Arkham series is about that Batman and joker relationship, Asylum is about a day in the life of the relationship, City is about the death of that relationship, and Knight is about the aftermath of that relationship (although they could’ve done something better with that premise). Except there’s one thing missing, how the relationship started, the *origins* of the relationship, and in my opinion, Arkham Origins did a fantastic job at setting up the beginning of this relationship. that’s why it’s one of my favorite prequels.

The best example of a good prequel and bad prequel is revenge of the sith vs the phantom menace, revenge of the sith shows us how Vader became Vader and it shows us the fall of the jedi which adds to the redemption of Vader in episode 6, but phantom menace is just kinda a useless side story that shows us baby Anakin and the devil himself jar jar, yes you could make the point that we see obi wan taking in the role of master but I say they could have started where attack of the clones did and just give us some neat exposition....kinda like qui gon jinn. While I enjoy both movies (one way more than the other cough jar jar sucks cough) revenge did the whole prequel thing way better.
I've been workshopping a reimagining of the prequels that I might use on Wasted Plotential in the future. Starting with an older Anakin is one of the first changes.
For RE0's case: In Umbrella Chronicles, they try to imply that Rebecca, after the events of the prequel, was running short on ammo and was very tired (and I wouldn't blame her for that). And even after a little nap, she was in serious exhaustion, needing Richard's help, then Chris' when Richard got injured.
Tho, yeah, it should have been an explanation in REmake itself instead of in a spin-off, but that's the closest to have an in-universe explanation for why Rebecca was not as capable after the Train Derailment (RE0)

You think Xehanort doesn't work? It's really simplistic. Xehanort was a old man who had extraordinary gifts-he tricked his best friends students into a war-where he took one of their bodies-he's then defeated by that pupils armor-which gives Terra's heart a fight chance-causing the character being projected threw the body to lose most recollection of events(This is why Terranort is saying Xehanort, but that's not really his name. But Ansem takes it as such.)- Xehanort goes on for about year as Ansem's pupil-He then banishes him with the help of Braig-and they proceed to trick the rest of Ansem's pupils into having their hearts removed to form the organization-Braig turns Terra-Xehanort into the Seeker of Darkness-and Xemnas goes on to create the organization and Ansem goes on to become the man in Kingdom Hearts 1. That makes perfect sense as Xehanort was already mentioned in the sequel and even hinted at in Chain of Memories. Ansem mentions in his reports in KH2 that Xehanort and the man that was his apprentice may not be 1 and the same. And that was proven to be true. You've been talking about BBS for a while just make a video already. Would love to hear what you have to say. But Xehanort does infact work. Because within the very first game. Ansem showed 2 people heart's can merge when he did so to Riku. So it's not like they came up with the heart transfer solely so the Xehanort thing can make sense. And Terra was shown to be someone else entirely in 2006.The same year Xehanort was introduced in the series. The only thing that doesn't make sense is how tf did Mickey not recognize Terra. But they clearly had it planned to some degree. If that's what you mean then yeah you have a point. Terra should've been the first BBS character to be saved. As Mickey literally looked him in the eyes 10 years prior to KH1.
AMAZIAH I’d have to play it again but Terra and Mickey don’t have a big interaction like Mickey does with Aqua and Ventus I’m not sure if he would remember him as well as he would them and Xeanhorts heart entering Terra’s body changed his hair and look a little
Final destination 5 is an amazing prequel
Also a streamer one time got mad at me about the Huey thing in MGSV as he played all the games knew the story but still thought Huey was going to die in MGSV.

He thought something different was going to happen. But I said we already know how he dies so the Huey thing was pointless in game as with other things in MGSV. As MGSV felt like fan-fiction more so than ever.
Well to the credit of star wars 3 to 4. Vader was busy hunting jedi. (Superior legends he even trained like 2 sevret sith one to take down the emperor and the other i cant remember her job but she marries luke. ) in canon he was secretly bringin this all together. Palpatine had a few other plans he had to do. In canon he sent vader out to do these things. Searching for a new apprentice now that vader was crippled.

xehanort is...weird. i think he could actually work if nomura wasnt shit at writing and he was only the mainvillain for that one game. having him "be the one who planned it all" in kh3d just cheapens out the entire point of kh1 through 2 in the timeline. ironicly,kingdom hearts already did the prequel thing with days and xion,but that is more enjoyable to me at least since at least xion isnt drawn out into retcon literally everything that existd-territory and i honestly prefer days as a story over kh2 as a story

You still forgot Naked Snake/Big Boss in the final title card as well as DMC3, you only included RE0 and the Kingdom Hearts one (I think that's what that is either that or the second Final Fantasy one, I don't really know either series)

Serious Sam 3: BFE is a weird one.
*Good:* The last couple levels add new context to the overall situation that changes what we assumed about the situation in the earlier games, but doesn't contradict it, either.
*Bad:* Sam acts like an almost completely different person, and BFE ends the second that the original game begins, flipping him from crass, pseudo-jerk to a playful goof in an instant.

Second Have you ever thought of doing a Ubisoft game Line through time? (Tom Clancey games,Assassins Creed,Farcry Watch_Dogs?) I know Matpat did a video on the subject but I'd love see your spin on things.
I don't believe in a vast shared universe of Ubisoft games, but I do fully intend to cover Assassin's Creed some time next year, and maybe the Tom Clancy games (there are tons of those, so I'd need help on that one).

i think that the worst prequels are those that neither were worth telling nor worth existing. like fire emblem 7,almost everything that relates to fe6 are basicly just events we already knew happened in motion or just kinda retcon that game. also,more than half the story completely misses the core of the original story and is just stringed together information for the heck of it.

I honestly think Lightning's character in Dissidia works much better because she's playing off of others with more colorful personalities.
