Start with continuous light or LED lights, they are not strobes, so it's the same as working with natural light. If you want to learn flash, get a decent flash and a trigger for off camera flash techniques
Love, love, love it! So beautiful! I had two kids but didn't do any maternity photoshoot. Now I am learning photography and regretting not capturing beautiful moments of the pregnancy. Thank you, Ksenia! Удачи вам!

Gorgeous model , and a great tutorial ! Ksenia would you also mind sharing what tripods you use to hold the flashlight and what size umbrella , links would be great ! I have tried multiple tripods from Amazon , and non is sturdy to keep my light and umbrella.
Hey Kesnia, i love what you're achieving from this small space with a single light! Can I ask what width the gray backdrop is please, and what is the material ❤️🙏
Hey Ksenia, great shoooting and pictures! What is the wide of the photowall behind your model or which wide should a wall have to create these photos with flying fabric? Kind regards from Austria:)
Absolutely! Great to hear that! It's just a small part of what I do 😉 launching my online course soon, sign up for my email list to get the update. kseniapro.com
Yes! Exactly - the white walls a pretty close to her, so they reflect good amount of light. I also use soft light thanks to the large size umbrella with diffuser - so I do get the shadows by they are very soft
I feel like I'm watching a magician performing tricks😍😍🔥🔥🔥like wow...wow...wow, I can't over how small your studio is,when I saw the thumbnail I thought okay high ceilings expensive studio and most definitely strobes, expensive strobes... and I like how your ideas, creativity 👌👌
Haha that's what most people think and then they come to my studio and it's nice but tiny, def not high ceilings ))) my backdrop cutoff is just over 7 ft think (have that annoying drywall covering the duct inside), sooo.. just get creative!
Thank you! The white chiffon that I had was s from Walmart, but you can get it from any local fabric store or even Amazon. They also sell chiffon trains on Etsy
Love your work so much!! Would I be able to ask you which equipment you use for studio? When there is no good natural light. Which flash and size of octabox/umbrella. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for answering, I was asking in case you have changed some of the equipment (specially for the flash). Also I think the link of the umbrella has a different item but anyway :P does it mind if the umbrella on the inside is white or the shiny silver? I really appreciate the time you take to answer questions 🙏🏼 thank you for that
Sure! Oh I'll have to check it then. Umbrella with the white inside will give softer light than silver, but mine is silver and it's pretty soft with the white diffuser
Great contents as usual Ksenia and lots for me to practice in my soon to be ready home studio. How are you getting beautiful soft light around the model without using a reflector on the opposite side? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! Great question! Well, I do have a reflector - it's a white wall in my studio! Because room is small, the light bounces off of the walls and helps create that even light
at 6:39 the right side of her gown looks a little too hot but I understand that's hard to control with only one light. Very nice shots. Is your background just regular gray? Good job.
Thank you for watching! Honestly, I don't care for that, it looks fine to me. My goal is not to create even light all around or achieve "perfect" light or exposure, but rather create drama. I'm not a commercial photographer, so there's no such thing as "too hot", as long as the overall image has the right feel and mood. Hope that makes sense! Same thing with the color, I'm not aiming for the perfect color representation, but rather, the color that feels right. Backdrop linked in the description - it's called Thunder Gray
Thanks i really find super useful your info! I really appreciate your time ans effort! Specially with bloggers fashion shoot, definitely fashion is my thing and i didnt know much about this and how to enter to the business, please talk more about this subject i love it! And i got a problem with this same speedlight and same umbrella 7ft but i always got no sharp , no blurry but kind of noisy pics and i thought it waa because the flash low power and that i needed a strobe instead , the smaller umbrella i got gives me much more sharper pics, can you explain how do you set your speedlights and how to use this flashes with huge umbrella please
It's really no difference, but you need to get a bit more power with large umbrellas. I like to keep my speedlights 1/16 - 1/8 max, so trying to balance it with some daylight if possible. Plus I'm shooting in a small room with white walls which bounce the light around and help even it out more
Hey ksenia, thanks for this video, I have the same speedlight and a 7ft same umbrella , my camara is cropped sensor and i use lens 35 1.4 , I always have thought that this huge umbrella doesn’t work with speedlights because i feel the pictures are not as sharp as my smaller umbrella, and i place two flashes inside the umbrella! How is it possible that i always got not sharp image with the big umbrella! Can you recommend how to get sharp with this speedlight and huge umbrella! Thanks
Hey! The large umbrella will produce softer light, less deeper shadows and it might require more power from the flash, but it should not affect the sharpness of the images. If you're having a hard time focusing that's not because of the light )
Ao what are the dimensions of your studio including ceiling? How far away from the model are you? I thought that anything under 50mm creates distortion... how do you deal with that? Do you try to stand up above eye level from the client? I dont have natural light but I do have the same umbrella! So sorry for all the questions
The distortion works for me it makes them talle in vertical shots, again you need to shoot at an appropriate level. Distortion can be your friend)) my room 11.5 by 14.5 ft, ceiling 9 ft, back drop goes up to 8 ft max.
This was so informative, I really enjoyed watching you work, great tutorial just perfect thank you... the extra white material that you used is this chiffon? also I'm looking for new speed light triggers and receivers as mine keep failing.. can you recommend any ?

@@kseniaprophoto I have two Yongnuo speed lights also, that I purchased a few years back when I started a diploma course - I am a beginner and was feeling a bit overwhelmed tbh and came to a standstill - but thanks to you I'm feeling a bit more confident - very inspiring x

Superb work, and great detail about your setup.
What sort of focal length are you using here, please?

So where do you find your fabric and what is the size of fabric you use?
Fabric store appx 5-6 yards
What is the width of the chiffon train? Did you sew 2 together?
You can use the standard cut, but the trains that I rent - yes, they're double the width of fabric (2 stihrd together)

It's called chiffon
