Back in the 70’s, when Lacy J. Dalton was first starting out, she was often referred to as, “The Country Janis Joplin,” for her hip, bluesy singing style. Lacy is so versatile, she doesn’t easily fit into any one musical genre, but Country music is lucky to have her. She was then, and STILL is, one of the FINEST singers in the entire music business...period!

Watching this & seeing those that have left us since this was recorded, makes you realize how bad country music has gotten. We need more of ALL these COUNTRY GREATS back on radio today!! Thank goodness we have a CLASSIC COUNTRY station here to listen to.

Wow... having spent a short time in the music business and having grown up listening to most of the people in that room I get chills and emotional listening to this song -- always have -- and watching Lacy J. Dalton (owner of one of the very best country songs ever!) moving around amongst her peers.
Gosh, what a room full of country music history: Gene Watson, Jim Ed Brown, Ed Bruce, MIckey Gilley, Johnny Lee, Lynn Anderson, Rodney Crowell, Little Jimmy Dickens, T. Graham Brown (owner of one of the greatest country songs ever written, in my opinion (Wine into Water)), Janie Fricke, Jan Howard, Larry Gatlin, Shelly West, David Frizzell, a few others who I recognized but can't recall without going back through the video and a few who I didn't recognize.

Lacy J Dalton was and is a crossover from way back with this song. Back when I first heard it I thought this was a rock song, a Steve Taylor, Carroll King genre....from my 60's era type of preferences. She wasn't country or so I thought.
