Is Under Armours NEWEST Curry signature shoe for 2021 worth your money? These are some of the most rugged basketball sneakers of 2021 with a combined Flow mid and outsole and an extra long shank design- but judge for yourself if they're worthy enough to be a game day sneaker. As a foot doctor I look at basketball shoes and basketball sneaker technology a bit differently as I focus more on what foot types benefit from these shoes as well as the tennis shoe's functional attributes on the tennis and basketball court
Some of the main areas we cover in this basketball shoe playtest, teardown and performance review are:
    - The weight, durability, fit and playability
    - What are the features of the insole, midsole, and outsole
    - Under Armour basketball shoe technology explained
Part of the 2021 Basketball shoe review series

So, this shoe (and I assume the 8) does something better than any other i’ve played in- provide a solid base for shooting. Esp on dribble step-backs and shooting off screens, there’s little to no adjustment time. No teetering on your toes.
Its thanks to the lightweight design and the wide, almost triangular heel. The same reason I’ll play in old Jordan’s, the squared off heel is really useful when quickly getting into your base on an off-balance shot. (Even though they destroy my poor pampered feet)

Little torn on the sizing for this one. Harden 3's and a couple others fit me at 11.5 but some shoes also fit me with 12's. I have flat feet and a normal/wideish foot profile. What would you suggest? 11.5's, 12's, or 12.5's?

@@FootDoctorZach I agree with his 100 percent about instability!!!!!!!!!!!Last week I sprained my knee. The traction bit but my foot was not adequately supported by the upper. Also the bottom of the shoe was not even/flat. I think the light weight of the shoe may negatively impact proprioception. I'm learning towards the Kyrie 7 as my main shoe because they have a lower stack height/wide forefoot, good court feel and impact protection. I feel like it gives you a solid base for shooting and is built to minimize the possibility of of injury.

Hey Doc thanks for the review! 1st vid and I'm a fan going down the rabbit hole of your vids now glad you're also a tennis player!
3 weeks ago I fractured my ankle/the fibula connecting to ankle playing indoor volleyball when I went to plant my feet to slide (like I naturally did outdoors for tennis) and rolled it really badly. In a cast right now and mentally want to get a another pair of shoes for when I'll be back on the court.
Was looking at these Curry Flow 9's but in general would these/basketball shoes make for good indoor volleyball shoes? Your con for these shoes were for ankle sprainers, and though I didn't sprain my ankle often before and this was my first time breaking anything I'm a bit paranoid that I'll be in this category now and these shoes won't be for me.
Thanks for your help in advance.

How much did these stretch out in your testing? I currently have a 10 and a 10.5 and I'm trying to decide which one to keep. The 10.5 is more comfortable but if the 10 will stretch out well enough I might go with those instead. By typical standards I'm not a wide footer (not sure if I have long toes), but in the 10 my right foot definitely feels very snug and to the end of the toe box.

@@FootDoctorZach Woah! First time on your channel and I had no idea you are a foot doctor. I am a chronic ankle sprainer on 1 foot. When I was 19, I designed insoles to fix this. I layered 2 thinner insoles together and cut & tapered the lower one in the medial area, more specifically the big toe extending the length of the metatarsal to the arch. I added another minimal layer to the arch to counteract the pronation that might occur.(abbreviated description)
These were installed in Jordan 4's which chose specifically for their completely flat rubber sole. This was done to eliminate other variables.
The result was amazing. I was able to play ankle brace free and never twisted my ankles once while wearing them. I also felt faster and able to jump higher. My 'theory' for that is because it forced me to activate my flexor hallucis.
I want to do this again in these shoes and would love to get your opinion... I WOULD HAPPILY PAY. And also sign any waiver of liability. My apprehension lies in the more unpredictability of the foam as opposed to the hard flat rubber sole that my knees would never allow me to play in today. Any reply is appreciated. Thanks!!!

Oh and I never wear orthotics due to their extra padding which furthers the instability for me especially when it isn't thinner in the medial area.
