I was over 50 before I was diagnosed with ADHD. I talked to my doctor and he sent me to the only doctor in town who could diagnose it. After paying $500 out of my meager pockets for the testing, she agreed and I was prescribed Adderall.
I love it! I have to have it if I am going to finish anything at all during the day. Without it I’m suddenly that little first grader who spent the day gazing out the window watching the world go by instead of getting my work done.
I just found you today. Looking forward to all the tips and tools I can get to keep me productive every day. Jan

that was me in 4th grade. but i wasnt watching the world go by i was looking at the tree. observing it. wondering about why it grew the way it did. why was it shaped like it was. the growth pattern of the trunks and branches. and how pretty the sunlooked and the leafs with the sun showing through. oh i like that. day gazing. i was considered a day dreamer.

I’ve struggled my whole life with ADHD. I didn’t take meds until I was late 30’s. It’s really helpful but it still takes me an hour or longer to do a simple 10 minute task. You are an inspiration! Thank you for this video. I’ll be looking for more of them. 💞

something I've found out about how it works for me is knowing what I need to do in advance. If I sit and say "ok let's do some work" I get overwhelmed with all the tasks I want to accmplish. If I see my list and choose one I find it easier. But still it can take more time than expected. Don't be harsh on yourself! hugs :)

That idea of 1-2 mentors to your inbox at a time is a REALLY good idea.

I just started watching your videos and I love them. You cut to the chase, I have a very hard time with paying attention and I have no patience when it comes to quite a few things. Anyway, I am learning so much from you, Thank you so much for working so hard to make these videos I have so many issues with my ADHD and I have started doing the things you suggested and so far they work.. Super yay!!! My husband and I both have ADHD and we run a business so thank you for sharing, it means a whole bunch!!!! ♥

I'm so glad you're here! Thank you for watching 🧡 I watch a lot of TH-cam and I can't stand the ones that drag on and never get to a point lol not helpful for us ADHDers. I am always trying to get better though. I'm really glad some of the things I've talked about are helping you. How long have you run your business together? That's #couplegoals for sure!

You are an encouragement to me! I have had plans and dreams for my small business for quite some time and have put them aside or procrastinated do to fear I would not keep up and just give up eventually. But developing products for others that just pay me for sewing not developing is selling myself under value. Its time to work towards goals and get a better routine!
Btw, thanks for speaking so openly about running a business with ADHD!!! ❤️

I’m so glad I could help. And yes! Having goals that I deeply desire for myself helps me to work towards them, but I don’t get down on myself if my goals aren’t achieved in my planned timeline. I’ve found especially with ADHD it just takes a bit longer but I get there!

I'm only on point one but I just want to say that so far I'm really loving this video! I also like your cutaways! I think that's really clever especially being with adhd. I don't know if there's a specific reason why you chose the angle you did but if there's not then maybe you could consider pointing it so we could still see a little bit more of your face at the cutaway angle.? 🥰this is unnecessary feedback though haha. Just something I was thinking 💜💜💜
Awesome video! This is some really great information for entrepreneurs. Currently trying to build up my business right now but I'm finding myself in a bit of a funk. I know it's because I'm irregular with my medication but I'm already down the rabbit hole of ADHD with businesses 😆

Thank you so much! And I appreciate you watching and I'm glad it was helpful. Thank you for the feedback. All good re: your business. To be honest I find having some nice check-in activities like journaling and watching certain TH-camrs really helps me too.

Thank you for your time and all of the effort it takes to share your journey with complete strangers. I'm getting to a point in my business where it's growing faster than I initially felt prepared for, and many other resources/"mentors" aren't necessarily aligned in their guidance because of my ADHD. I'm so grateful to have found you, and to see someone who is Doing The Thing successfully and has found ways to make it easier for others. Thank you!!

I only discovered your videos last night and have found them encouraging. I had an idea for a business that I think will help a lot of neurotypical and mainly help us ADHD’ers and you are giving me the push to try and get it off the ground. Now to just work out how I can do this is the next step. But at the moment I’m doing lists yes lists of what I want my business or plan to have. I only discovered earlier this year I had ADHD when I was 49. Would have been nice to know like 40 years earlier but now everything makes sense and most the things my ex Husband disliked or got frustrated with were you guessed it ADHD related. but had I know while with him I still don’t think it would have made a difference as he wouldn’t have understood and thought it was just excuses. So now I have a new chapter that I know my strengths and weaknesses and understand how my brain works a bit more. Thank you

I realised no matter how much things make sense on a video at time of watching, I just dont retain the information (adhd), I began using 5X8 index cards for each mentor or lesson on something as a way to better recall what was said…you presented good info! particularly liked the monthly calendar idea! great video

Hi Christina! I'm an ADHDer too, and I have been diagnosed at 30. It's been less than a year since I know for sure, before I had a couple of years suspecting it but now I totally "embrace" the diagnosis. I am also in this entrepreneurship path and would love to connect with you if you want! Wish you the best in your journey :)

This is really helpful. I've not been diagnosed, but I'd bet good money I have it. I really liked when you pointed out your to-do list was unreasonably long. I have to do lists like that and feel so guilty for getting to maybe one or two things on the list. People always ask me how I keep up with everything I'm doing and I just laugh because I'm not keeping up. Maybe this is why. I'm going to have to seriously consider dialing some stuff back.

    • @ChristinaScalera
      @ChristinaScalera  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I'm so glad you found this helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting. The to-do list one is verrrrry common for many people-- I think with the internet and TV we just see how much other people are doing and we don't realize they have entire crews or personal assistants doing a lot for them too (like grocery shopping). Good luck with conquering your to-dos this week (in a more realistic way hopefully 😉) 🧡

This video is so helpful thank you so so much. I like the suggestion to lean on others and have business friends, I am feeling quite isolated with this new way of working…
Also, I know 100% I’m adhd but not diagnosed (both my big bro and sis just diagnosed in their 30s) and really want medication.. What is a good alternative in the mean time, knowing that diagnosis can take years? I don’t have patience and have a business to kickstart !!

i watched this video , part of it the other day, but up to the cofffee part. and sometimes when i need to kind of wake up fast ish or im in a hurry i have some coffee along with my breakfast, but i rarely do that. usually for breakfast i feel like i need to eat a bunch to feel okay. but i try to have a average amount (on a regular day when im not having coffee). well today i had some coffee along with my breakfast. then my parents brought out some bread i really like. and instead of having my usally huge amount i only had a small piece. which is huge for me, considering my usual size is like the size of two slices of white bread or more maybe. i think maybe drinking coffee is going to help me with not having so much sugar and sugar cravings. (also i only drank a little coffee ,maybe a quarter cup and the rest of the cup with milk) i guess my brain just needed a little extra boost.

In true ADHD fashion, I haven’t taken meds for it in over a year because… I lost them. Then I got another prescription, and lost it too. Sadly this happened several more times, and I just gave up. Regardless, the best thing is to find what works for you since my body would react completely differently than yours 😉

I'm afraid to use calendly because it makes me feel cornered and I can't control saying no and spend all my time trying to get out of it. I'm scared because this is all I have and all I need to do is actually do the work. I've even automated my prospecting.. Geez. What do I do?

The only way to get on my Calendly is via a link I send to a qualified lead, or through an application that qualifies them. You could also add a session fee to further discourage anyone who isn't a great fit. There are solutions!
