I thought my shortest layer of hair was too short to loc and still maintain a good length but with this technique I think I could make it work Thanks a bunch!
Oh my goodness you are soooo very welcome and I hope it worked out for you, Please feel free to give me an update on your progress! I will be launching a few new videos soon and would love to hear of your journey!
Thankyou for this video I was going to clip on my extentions not knowing how you showed how it is easy to to do and due to having my thyroid out a few years ago made some of my dreads thin and fall out in the front so not wanting and getting fed up with wearing scarfs to cover the front all the time I was going to put extentions in until my hair starts to matt again ..once again I thank you for this vid and your so easy on the eye to listen too ..all the best for a happy future ♥️💛💚
Hello! I loved your video! I have had dreads for about 10 years, but at one point they were so long I had to cut them. I didn't like that, so I even cut them shorter, but had no idea how to maintain them after that. So I combed them out, and regretted it within half a year. I have been growing my hair for 2 years now, but it is growing very slowly (the downfalls of being blond, and older, I guess). If I wanted to set dreads in my own hair again, what length of normal hair would you advice?
I'm starting to get my dreads done tonight! My hair is just past my bum lol I've been waiting for this for probably about 15 years since I was in highschool my feshman year. I had mentioned it to my dad and he was all for it until he READ a page FULL of misinformation on dreads. He told me no because I couldnt wash my hair and about how they're dirty and how lice and bugs are found in dreads. Man, I don't know what page he read lol. Then about 4 years ago I really wanted them but my husband said no because he doesn't really like them and that you really don't see them on white girls (🙄🙄🙄 living under a rock if you ask me lol).... Then it hit me again.... This time I out my foot down and told him "look, this is the type of girl you married. I love piercings, tattoos, and dreads. You married a hippy girl." I'm turning 30 this year and I'm done not being able to express myself the way I want. I've given so much to my kids and husband, it's my turn lol thankyou for the video. I may or may not install dread extensions at some point.
Aww that is an intense story haha. I could see where your dad was probably just looking out for you and fearful of some of the horror stories. But honestly, its not the dreadlocks that are dirty but the person! lol Feel free to scroll through my channel and WELCOME! There are loads of videos on how to care for Dreadlocks, dying, maintenance, shampooing etc. Good luck on your Dread Journey! It sounds like you are an awesome wife and mother...you sure do deserve them! Hah ;-)
@@HippieHousewife oh for sure my dad was definitely just looking out for me. We got ONE dread done last night lol the sectioning took forever and we only sectioned one row. I'm doing the fan method for sectioning. What makes it so difficult is getting around all my hair because it's so long. And we're doing small dreads not thick. We have the first bottom row sectioned out to be made into 5 dreads. Once we get the first row down the rest will be much easier. We did the back comb then crochet but I think tonight we'll try twist n rip then crochet. I named the first dread stewie. My daughter (6) said she wants it named Rosie so I told her we'll name the second one rosy. I look forward to watching more of your videos ❤️and I also can't wait to make some of my own.
@@kitomad7357 perfecto! Remember that if you want skinny dreads, make them about 1/2 inch thick when sectioing. Also as a side note...i tend to make my under part and mid section slightly thicker...the higher I work up, the smaller I section/make the dreads. They seem to lay quite nicely like that. Not at ALL telling you how to do your own dreads, just giving some helpful advice along the way 😁 I'm super excited for your adventure! I had always wanted dreads for YEARS as well. So glad you are finally able to 💗💗💗💋
@@HippieHousewife so we ended up switching to rip and twist/crocjet method last night. It's also preserving the length of my hair better than back combing then crochet. Backcombing and crochet method would've taken us a month to do all my dreads. I'm starting out with thinner dreads because I know they'll thicken up over time. So far I have 20 dreads and 4 rows done and we're at the row that goes just above my ears. I was feeling a little anxious last night looking at my dreads. They look like crazy long spider legs lol they are to my waist. They look very fuzzy and have a cool twist /braided pattern at the center. I knew I wasnt going to have a ton of dreads, but I was hoping for a decent amount. I don't really even know what a decent amount is because everyone's preference and even hair thickness is different and I'm thinking maybe my expectations were a little much? Any tips or suggestions/encouragement before we do more dreads tonight?
I certainly will try my best! Let me look for one quick! Sorry for the late response. My husband just had knee surgery on top of the crazy holidays lol.
Hey I'm living in Ontario Canada and I have wanted Dread extensions now for along time .I have a Mowhawk right now that's about 2 inches long and I wearing Wool Dreads .I guess I'm asking if you make Dread extensions that can be bought ? I don't have the patience to make them even though I'm an Artist .I think I need about 31 I'd have to count my Wollies I'm wearing .

Hi there I was wondering if I just started my dreads (babydreads) can I put in extensions as soon as I dreaded my hair? Or would that mess up with the shrinking process of my natural babydreads? I want them so bad but I know they will be short once I first put them in hence why I want to add dread extensions to them as soon as possible..
Oh my goodness of course! Many people like to add the extensions right away as well. Creating both your dreadlocks and the extensions at the same time will actually allow them to mature together quite smoothly. Thank you for watching! Good luck on your Journey! It is a fun one indeed.
I am literally trying to install dreadlock extensions and im having such a hard time.i had dreadlocks before just freeform and I chopped my hair off out of impulse and a couple of moths later which is now I want dreads again but my hair is so damn short haha.so I'm trying to figure out how the hell to make this happen. Hi, I've got thin hair and have just dreaded my hair but want to add some length/volume etc with synthetic locs can you tell me do you have to take them out every 2 to 3 months? Or can I crochet them into my own and keep them in indefinitely I'm so confused after seeing some video's. Ideally I would like to keep the synthetic dreads in permanently 😕 please heeeeeelp! .... I love your channel x
First off, thank you for the love and support! Ok..so I am not very familiar with synthetic dreadlocks and never work with this material, I only work with real human hair dreadlocks and real human hair extensions. I would advice that you keep researching this BUT my own opinion would be to NOT keep your synthetic dread extensions in permanently due to the fact that they are not a "real human hair" type of texture or consistency. Therefore they are most likely to cause additional issues down the road. Examples: Not locking up or maturing the dreadlocks fully, particles falling out of your dreadlocks, the shampooing process etc. I do not advice this decision but I am a bit unfamiliar with this type of combo. I do wish you the best of luck on your journey and hope you find the answers you need dearest!

Hey beautiful , I was just curious whether the actual dreadlock extensions mature and lock up when you extend your natural existing locks , do the extensions lock up as well? I just recently created dreadlocks from human hair and installed them into my natural locks , so I wa just curious , thanks , Peace and pixie love :) ☮💛
Yes they indeed do! They should mature just as your normal dreadlocks did. Depending on the type of human hair extensions you purchased, will determine the time frame they mature. Glad the video was helpful! Thanks for watching darling!
