thank you for the demo it was very helpful , on my door the remote switch [which i never use] has a relay on top of next to the up and down adjusters , it was resting in the on or "closed" position
hi, another question for you. My garage door won't close completely and leave a 5 inches clearance from the ground. Is there a way to adjust for that with the doorman 455?
Helpful video but I think I have the problem with the shot bearing. The motor has a slight squeal and I see the shaft lean you mention below. But the major problem is that the door is going up and down continuously. I have tightened up the chain and reset the sensitivity and it worked for a few days, but now has returned to its open/close cycling. My guess the two problems are related. Is there a fix for this unit? Thanks in advance for any advice.
how do u adjust the chain if its a single tube model455 hamburg door there are no nuts just a single solid tube of which the chain is connect at both ends?
where can I get the manual for this opener? Like a jerk I threw away the metal cover with the schematic in it! I'd love to get a replacement cover too. Thanks - AL
If your chain sags on these never tighten the chain without looking at the top bearing on the drive shaft. You should inspect it from underneath. What happens is when the bearing fails the driveshaft tilts forward causing the chain to sag. When the chain is tightened the radial force accelerates the bearing wear usually wrecking the driveshaft before it is noticed. I know. I sold and fixed hundreds of these years ago.
I have an Automatic Doorman 455 and I need a new remote. Anyone know where I might find one? Or where I may find the model number (or whatever number is by/around the light)? I may have found a place to obtain one, but I need the number by the light.
I have an Automatic Doorman 455 that keeps burning out capacitors. The door repair, guy who installed it 15 years ago, has replace it 3 times (twice free) and says the relay may be going bad. He says he will keep the opener working as long as he can, because new ones aren't this good. Unfortunately, the company is out of business and he can't get parts. He thinks they might be available in Canada. Do you know a source for parts? Please reply by email; I might not find your video again.
i changed the batteries on my 455 doorless remote and now it only works with the wall button i checked the codes on the remotes and sensors all are good also the light is off on the doorless rcvr can't seen to find a switch anywhere wife is parking in the garage now winter has arrived
