So excited to show this property off this past week to a couple dozen landscape professionals, including landscape architects and designers who can take these great ideas and plants and implement them elsewhere in the state.

I had the opportunity to tour this landscape. It's actually more beautiful in person, you feel like your walking thru real Florida, the native plant palette just feels so authentic and the plants seem happy like they belong here. I would happily spend 2 hours a week maintaining this landscape to have these results. Great exercise, fresh air, a connection to nature, it's all worth it. All without having to pollute the environment with all the inputs needed to maintain St. Augustine sod.

Thanks you Steve for providing a landscape that's nature friendly and is beautiful to look at. You've set the bar high for all of us nature lovers to strive for. I've recently started to convert to a Florida native landscape and not only and I enjoying the beauty that it provides I'm also enjoying the saving of resources like water and using less chemicals.

Thank you Villages Chapter FNPS for doing such a great job with your landscapes, showing Floridians that they can embrace our Real Florida plants and use them in ways that attract both people and wildlife. Beautiful job! Viewers everywhere, check out your local chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society FNPS.org and other organizations supporting the preservation and use of more native plants for greater sustainability. Thanks to the Native Plant Horticulture Foundation for making this special episode of Flip My Florida Yard possible, along with help from FNPS partners in the Villages and many generous donors! www.NativePlantHort.org

Some viewers are probably wondering, is this home in compliance? Yes, approvals were obtained from The Villages, Community Standards - Architectural Review Committee prior to implementation of the changes to the landscape. The covenants, deed restrictions and development rules allow residents to replace sod with Florida-Friendly plants, which of course includes natives. Turfgrass is optional.

Great job Chad on bringing attention to this very important issue, going native conserves a lot of water which is becoming hugely critical for Florida. I'm a member of The Pinellas Chapter FNPS and the head of the landscape committee at my 26 acre condo complex and have convinced the board to let me put a team of volunteers together to eradicate all our invasives, most notably Brazilian Pepper. We've already cleared about 2 acres which filled up 15 30 cubic yard dumpsters. I got them to commit to going with all native plants from here on out! Very exciting! My wife and I hope to move to The Villages in a few years and we can't wait to get involved with thier FNPS chapter. Great job guys!!!

Thank you Steve and company for inspiration toward beautiful, enriching, low-maintenance native landscaping. How about your mockingbird! Terrific to meet you at the Cullowhee Native Plant Conference.

And the more informed viewers are, the more beauty they can see! These landscapes demonstrate how Floridians can embrace their regional heritage, preserve water quality for future generations, enjoy their yards more and look good doing it.

Good luck trying to sell this house, whether it is him or his family. Same with a pool. Gotta find the right couple. Who wants to give up 2 hours per week for weeding? And when it is in the 90's from June to Oct, you have to weed very early. No thanks. I pay my water bill, somebody to cut the grass each week and a yard maintenance guy every couple of months. Play golf, sleep in, and enjoy retirement. Oh, hope he doesn't need back surgery like I did and hope he can do it at 80.
