My first 335i was an auto. 2010 m sport e90, fully loaded, loved that car but the entire time I felt like I completely ruined it for getting it with an auto. The car felt bland, I always tried the paddles to try and make it exciting but I would turn that shit off within minutes because it felt lame. I got a chance to drive a 2011 335is with a manual and before I could even pull out of the lot, I was already sold. A shame because it doesn't have all the features my 2010 did but this car is just so much more fun to drive every day that I have absolutely no regrets what so ever. I'll go back to auto when I'm an old man and my knees stop working.
had a manual before now automatic and absolutely love it paddle shift makes a big difference There's a reason most of m3's and m5's are automatic of course different type of box but still Both manual and automatic are great in bmw
Manual at any given time. I like to be in full control. BMW's automatic transmissions are reliable, but I will always prefer a manual. They're also cheaper to maintain, and the car itself is cheaper.
99Vehicles TV it's cheaper to buy brand new. Manuals hold value better than the autos. It was impossible to find a low mileage, clean title 135i for less than 20k
Since last week I have a 335i DCT. It turns on lightning fast. The best car I've ever had. It's a 2010 model, with the N55 engine! Greetings from germany 😊
Considering getting a 335xi automatic transmission for my DD with full bolt ons. Then I want to get a 135i and eventually single turbo it with the manual. Love these cars
I have the 6-speed auto on my 08 335i and love how smooth it is. Compared to my older 00 328i 5-speed my fiance personally loves it because its alot easier to apply makeup in the passenger seat and I dont have to worry about yelling out a warning when I am shifting lol
My prior 335 (335i with sport pkg) had auto, I liked it quite a bit. Latest one is MT ('07 335xi), love it! Lots of city/highway driving, just more natural for me. The hill-holding feature makes it easy to get around allways busy Seattle downtown. Unless it is icy or snowy, I don't get to peel out...
Good video man, it's nice to be able to watch a video where someone speaks clearly and thorough about a topic without having a bunch of nonsense on their video, keep up the good work
I think at the end of the day is about how do you feel. If your knees are young and not feeling any pain, go manual. I am 43 and I have been driving manual since I was 18, so for me (personal preference) I’ll go auto not to mention the fact that we all know auto transmissions are way more aggressive do to better design nowadays for you to have fun w the car as well. My E30 can stay stick for its an occasional car, but soon I’m getting a 335 and it’ll be auto.
In all seriousness you can’t go wrong with either. I test drove automatic and manual e92 335i I can say they are both great and definitely put down the power. I live in Atlanta though so I’m probably going to go with automatic because of the traffic lmao.
I think a lot of people forget that older autos (2010 and before) are actually slower than manuals. The manuals also handle more power you just need a good clutch. Manual all day. With an auto, once you throw power at it, you must tune your transmission and if you really want big power you need a manual swap. Dcts are a different ballgame. Nothing like manually shifting 500hp+ though.
Manuel all the way the shift knob and clutch is the umbilical cord that connects you to your car you get to feel your car you get to become your car Manuel all day
Brandon B After driving a manual for 10 years straight it was different to change it up! Wife drives my car at times and refuses to learn to drive a manual, boo 👎🏻
Got an 09 335i coupe with the zf transmission, and it's a awesome trans when it works. You do have to service the trans at 100,000 mile intervals for the best life as i've recently found out. Made an appointment with my Indy shop to have this done but currently the trans when it's hot doesn't hold gear and slips in 4th, 5th and 6th. But when it's cold and the fluid is thicker it'll handle almost 16lbs of boost no problem.
What have been your experience in servicing the transmission? I'm debating whether or not to service mines. Always heard wives tales the problems could arise from servicing it. I have zero issues with it and shifts like a dream. What's your opinion?
Thank you so much for not saying actual repeatedly. I guess after watching several of you vids I find them informative especially for less experience and general auto and BMW knowledge. I'm pretty sure that is your goal, as well as educate yourself. However, I think you need to step up the pace a bit and produce shorter more to the point clips.
Hey BMW Fanatic. Do you do your own transmission fluid/ pan change yourself. I just bought an 07 with 108k miles and I’m planning to doing it just for piece of mind.
Exactly what happened to my I bought a Bmw 335i did not check it Car look fine was modify had a trans fluid leak then the transmission went out!!! But automatics with a tune they are really fast
Lauro Lazo Symptoms of what went on before it went out? My transmission fluid kit is arriving tomorrow along with the megatronic sleeve and adapter that is above the valvebody.
Adrian Gutierrez the transmission first went to safe mode once then I turned off and started the car the light went out.... drove the car during the night in the highway the car started to downshift by itself to 4 and 2 gear... then the car went to safe mode and stayed in 6th gear... took the car to the mechanic he try to change the fluid but it did not worked then I had to replace the transmission... it was not expensive as Expected it was 850 used !!!
Have you ever had issues with jerky shifts at low rpm? If so does this signify a transmission service oil flush and fill? I have a 2010 335i xdrive. Have you heard of any tranny issues?
Hey guys I want to ask a question... BMW n54/n55 it's not the same with the e90? I mean.. N54/N55 is the engine? Probably you guys are much more carguys than me.. I hope to answer somebody
Only reason most kids these days say manual an talk bad about auto is cause of the F&F movies without that they wouldn't even know what it is smh auto or manual as long as it makes you happy that's all that matters!

I got a manual version and im absolutely happy, wouldnt trade for automatic
I test drove the xi MT and although the launch was much much better I still chose the AT 335i just because it's much easier to drive in city.
Javad Gul yes! Totally agree. Hated city driving when I was driving a manual

This helped so much! I'm going to look at 335's tomorrow, thanks!

lol boy stop... You can't even spell manual.
The answer is pretty obvious: DCT for speed/power, manual for fun and real men!
Brandon B Exactly, a normal auto is not worth it these days. Either go with a high quality DCT or Manual transmissions.
Brandon B After driving a manual for 10 years straight it was different to change it up! Wife drives my car at times and refuses to learn to drive a manual, boo 👎🏻
Leon Voltery that is the goal! I bought mine 4 years ago, so the 335is was out of the option and wife can't drive a stick. Working out good so far
Yep my situation too. Possibly an automatic for my next car... :-(
Crankshaft Motors At least they can hold good power! Autos win races 😉

Your channel is the only one that I have the notification setting on
2snayls Nice!
i have the E92 N54 with DCT, i drive it daily, it's a different type of fun to manual. definitely worth it over 6speed auto
Adri Marax Yeah DCT is so badass
Great info on 3 Series transmissions! Love the knowledge you give on this channel!
Not a big fan of autos but I drove my friends 335is and the shit is crazy fast shifts even faster than me
I have a 325I automatic its amazing car i prefer only automatic transmission for BMWs.

give me a auto any day chill out driving had manual for 32 years now had auto 5 years would not go back love your it keep vids coming great
David Thomas I had a manual for 10 years, so it's been a change, but the normal auto puts down good power and plus my wife won't drive a manual lol
Nice video man! Just what I needed.

Honestly bro the 355i tranny is so good that it just wears faster than your average. That’s why I’m def getting a manual if I’m getting this car used

Be careful out there
Matt Miller I will - promise 😀
You have mastered the art of knee steering. Good job champ! i guess thats what happens when you gotta take care of the wife and kids huh :)
manual is for just pure racing. speed/fun/daily driver auto no brainer. sport mode and paddle shifter cmon. why the hell would u buy a manula.
