Another awesome adventure there Larry..... simple things in life are the greatest 🙏 Culinary skills are 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 😁 Looking forward to the next adventure....all those squeeks...rattles...clunks and the ones the bus makes too 😂
Hi Larry can you make a video about your bus itself? The story about it , since when are you in to vw's? The specs and year of your bus, suspension and drive train, .. i would love to see such kind of video thanks
Thanks for the idea! I do have walk around the bus video. I'll do a about me video, history with VWs and the reason why I do what I do. I'll refresh the walks around the Bus video every other year. We'll see how it changes??? sounds like fun! :o)
Eyyy Viajero! Curious what you wound up doing for a transmission? We both got '58s. I rebuilt the original old non-synchro crashbox, and it seems to work great for off-roading: 1st is a real granny, turns her into one hill-climin' beast...just have to get used to driving around Alaska at like 53 max, that's all. No biggie!
BoB- Disc Brakes, 1967 front axle and a 1966 Big Nut transmission, KYB shocks, Gas adjust front and GR2's rear. BFG's The tires make a huge difference. Air down to 24-28 Lbs, Smooth ride.
Mr Alaska- Stock 1966 Big Nut Trans. I plan on a Super Diff & side plate, taller 3/4 Gear. Something where I can cruise at 60mph on the freeway (Downhill) LoL Than a motor to do the same uphill. Reverse is the weak link. I pushed the limit in Rattle Snake Canyon, I've been G rated ever since. Tim, I want to adventure out further. Having a bus that does 60 will help.
Another AWESOME episode, inspired to go to at least Blue Ridge campground. What’s the chance of getting pinstriped by brush the further out you go??? Thanks!!!
Thanks Luke! From Lupine to Cabin Flat I walks a 8th mile and it was pretty over grown. Fore sure pinstripes. Only one spot from Guffy to Lupine that was easily avoided. Blue Ridge, My phone had a couple bars. So the van life Sprinter Vans use that place a lot. (Good Folks). Hope you liked the Music! :o)
I here you! One of my favorite places. Be careful the elevation drop is from 8000k to 4500k. With only one way out. I’m sure that the NFS closes it in the winter ❄️ months.
If they don't bite, them don't bother me, the flies and gnats around my food I shush them away with my hand or a flyswatter. Avoiding harming any of them...... LOL Carb cleaner and match works good too! TIPS... At night hang a LED night is a tree and no light in your camp. Never eat in your bus and no lights on in your bus after dark. Close up your bus and make your bed before the sun goes down. Wasp problem, It the next unoccupied campsite hang a can of spam (without the can) in a tree. repeat as needed. I stick it on a broken branch.
Thanks so much for the shout out, Larry. That 228B is an awesome lantern,
Thought you'd like to see that old lantern. I'm glad you liked it. BTW No fireball. LoL
My favorite local spot 👍🏻
This makes me so psyched to get my bus going out here in NC ! Cheers.
That's So Cool!
3rd gear!? You’re smashing those trails

I second this question! Also, do you have any suspension upgrades?

Far better looking than way up in Lytle Creek. Too many yahoos going up there.

Hey Larry I haven’t noticed anything in the videos about bugs. Do you get them in the bus? If so, what do you do to keep them under control?
