@@VGFightSchool thing about libertarian socialism is that the government is controlled more democratically than in a republic. A big part of left anarchism is the idea of direct democracy. If the people control what happens through their votes (for policies, not politicians), then the people can be considered the government. So if the people are the government (because they are making legislative decisions) then it is not authoritarian at all. It is however very authoritarian and aristocratic for corporations to have as much power as they do through lobbying. Because corporations are not run by the people, they are run by CEOs and shareholders. People whose money makes them more money, rather than working themselves. In the case of right libertarianism, I’d agree with you, because right libertarianism doesn’t provide very many ways of practically implementing policy. The free market decides, supposedly. Though I doubt the free market would implement universal healthcare. Even conservative ideas wouldn’t make it. Profit incentives have historically only contributed to almost only harmful policies and issues. Such as environmental deregulation leading directly to companies dumping poisons and lithium waste in rivers, poisoning locals and the wildlife. I’m getting off track. Takeaway is that government (different from the state, because the state is an independent entity from the people) is not contradictory to left anarchism, but this sentiment does apply to right libertarianism because right libertarianism does not provide a method to implement policy effectively.

Why does the government have to get out of the way for churches to do something? Wouldn't it be even better if you have multiple entities tackle a problem? What "Larry" forgets is that most churches aren't interested in helping the poor and the needy anymore. They need luxurious homes and planes. Well, Larry's word themselves should be clear enough. You does the government need to move aside for churches to get involved? Also he himself is saying that churches are not involved. Second, go take a look at prosperity gospel.

VGFightSchool he’s not a Libertarian tho?
If you didn't have a bias and would actually think for yourself, you would improve so much as a person. You should try it.

Americans think it will cost too much but americans also think that healthcare actually costs as much as they're charged for it lol
Because most Canadians are in the exact same situation as most people in most countries with socialized health care. They like it more the less they have to use it. Those with high needs like it less, and those with money buy private because it's multiples better.
The queues are bad, visits short and care sub par but the government will obviously regurgitate the awesomeness of the system via media, academia and their own institutions over and over again from the day you were born. They will also fool you into believing that there are no alternatives and that free markets can not solve health care.
The US military is strong, indeed, but also extremely highly funded and there is nothing to compare it to. It's rather easy to make something strong if you can take infinite resources from people whether they like it or not and ban all private alternatives. Most people agree that the US military is violent and horrendous monster so I don't think we ought to use that model as a basis for health care.
What if I told you that the free market can provide health care at higher availability, better care, better outcomes and lower prices. Shouldn't you be interested in that? Shoudlnt you want to learn more? What if governmetn health care is on the same level as government cars, computers or the DMV?

Why does the government have to get out of the way for churches to do something? Wouldn't it be even better if you have multiple entities tackle a problem? What "Larry" forgets is that most churches aren't interested in helping the poor and the needy anymore. They need luxurious homes and planes. They through a couple of parties at their church and somehow that is helping the community.
Most churches don't help. Citation needed.
Well, Larry's word themselves should be clear enough. You does the government need to move aside for churches to get involved? Also he himself is saying that churches are not involved. Second, go take a look at prosperity gospel.
Because the "state" tackling the problems means reaching into people's pockets (harming them), and skimming a bunch off for the bureaucrats. if you had such a heart of gold and were taxed less, wouldn't you put some of your money up to these charities? start your own? or do you need your money and someone else should pay ?
bc they are taking taxes they are wasting... do you not have an income yet?
I'd gladly give ot my income to help those in need locally and at the state level. When you steal my money to dump it on programs for others that do not directly aid my community, I got an issue. I can assist those in need within my community. There is plenty to deal with locally.
Yall saying Hasan shouldn't have interrupted are silly. He needed to forced Elder to stop ignoring those basic points. Otherwise it's not a productive enough debate and a waste of time. Also, Elder gets the privilege of sitting next the host and having more talking time

23:00 I actually agree with Hasan here. The rent prices, and the idea of keeping property prices as high as possible (so that municipalities can charge maximum property tax in my opinion) is a major problem and having situations like 100,000 empty houses available with a homeless problem as bad as it is is a bad situation.
Then you disagree with every single economist in the world, left or right.
@NotGonnaTell MyName Elaborate how property rights are immoral.

@@mcgheekortney You do realize that rent control is not in effect in most of the country currently and we still have one of the highest homeless populations of any developed country? Yet there are so many empty homes in the US while having this homeless population because it's better for the market to have higher rents and wait for someone who can pay.
You're not going to build affordable low income housing and deal with the "problems" associated with poverty as a property developer when you can build new condos or luxury units and make much more profit. The free market won't fix this problem because they are fine making more money in every situation. People need houses in the US, lets take some of that $75 billion given to pentagon military-industrial contractors for COVID (while they have actually been profiting more this year than last) and instead build housing.
Building affordable housing will put people to work with middle class jobs and provide homes to millions of Americans. The solution is to come together to solve our countries problems, as Hasan is advocating for.
@@14DaPlaya14 building affordable housing is going to tax us even more because no one is going to build homes if they aren't going to make a profit from it. Thus you will have to get it subsidized from the government and seeing as the government has no money of their own they are just going to take it from us through taxes. Which many people are going to object to. In many places with affordable housing the housing market is shot because no one is going to build homes for the fixed prices the government gives.

Agreed
Tom Bosson you’re right, the libertarians are the ones who support a president sending federal troops to cities across America to arrest people in unmarked vans. Maybe read some political theory and you’ll understand how Hasan can be a ‘libertarian’ and support socialized medicine.
@Tom Bosson You can be believe that. It is however inherently anti-libertarian to support a federal government mass arresting and gassing protesters.
@Tom Bosson yeah either you support complete lawlessness or you support police gassing protesters. What a joke. The issue isn’t so black and white. There’s been clear evidence of protesters who were peaceful being shot with less-lethal rounds and gassed. When officers do this and go unpunished, protesting is a valid response. If you can’t judge all cops by all the examples of them abusing power and breaking laws, then why judge all protesters by a handful that break the law?
@Tom Bosson your idea would cost cities, taxpayers, millions in civil suit claims. And since, like you admitted, protesting is a right, then when cities mass arrest groups of protesters to maybe catch a few agitators they are violating those rights. The majority is not advocating for rioting but that’s all those who would rather ignore the reasons for protests focus on. It was the same in the civil rights movement.

You seriously think Hassan won here. All he did was cut off Larry when he was making intelligent points he knows he can’t counter and the host saw that and cut Larry off as well as often as possible. Even with that Hassan came with his feelings and opinions not backed with any evidence.
Then he pushes rent control and for large scale public housing, saying that’s the answer. Rent Control helps to constrain private sectors and not unleash the private sector and markets, people like Hassan are fiercely against PRIVATE BUSINESS and the private markets and capitalism as anti-democrat. And Hassan said it at the end or towards it, let’s stop talking about legality and the law and let’s talk morality. Meaning he is all about feelings not facts. Larry dominated these two idiots, Hassan lost when asking dumb questions like should we kill illegal immigrants, that’s the same as deporting those here illegally, that costs Money and I guarantee 100% of the people who are for giving illegals citizenship or amnesty would change their minds if they personally became a victim of crime from an illegal alien which leads to death, like say someone’s child being killed by a illegal alien with a gun or DUI car accident.
