It would have been nice if the performers had actually played the music as written--or at least if they had come up with an idiomatic transcription for clarinet & piano. Definitely thumbs down. This is NOT the Rhapsody in Blue. George is rolling over in his grave. Poor guy! This is just another travesty of Gershwin's genius.

Hi, good kind of criticism is always welcome. But I think this is just very personal opinion without any specific detail. This transcription not supposed to be idiomatic, this supposed to be up to my taste. I don’t mind if someone is negative about my work but if you want to attack please be a bit more specific, so I can also develop myself. Have a good day

@@IstvanKohan I think the criticism has to do with the performer's apparent lack of familiarity with "the Gershwin style" as practiced by the composer and his protégé Oscar Levant. You might consult the old recordings. Gershwin played crisply, with very little if any rubato. He made his music "laugh," as many who heard him testified. Go back to those old recordings and see for yourself. Performance is an art, but it is also requires "hitting the books," close study of authoritative performances. Unfortunately, few take Gershwin with sufficient seriousness to do this work. And know that Gershwin did not write "jazz." He was a classical composer who used jazz as other classical composers made use of folk music (Vaughan Williams, for instance, or Kodaly, or Bartok).
