Since the Stelvio's 2016 debut, Alfa Romeo has advanced significantly. Their first high-riding car was the premium mid-size crossover, which went up against the Porsche Macan, BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, and Audi Q5.
Since then, the Tonale is the latest model to join the Italian brand's lineup of crossover vehicles. The premium subcompact car, which is also sold as the Dodge Hornet in the United States, shares a platform with the Jeep Compass, in contrast to the larger Stelvio, which is built on the same architecture as the Grand Cherokee, Maserati Grecale, and the Giulia sports sedan.
Alfa Romeo is developing a new crossover, as they are becoming more and more popular. Initially named after the automaker's home city of Milan, Italy, where it was established in 1910 (the firm now has its headquarters in Turin), the Milano will serve as the MiTo supermini's logical replacement and mark the brand's entry into the electric vehicle market. However, it won't be an all-EV concept because it will also have internal combustion engine power at launch.
The CMP/eCMP platform will be used by Alfa Romeo's future Milano, making it compatible with electric, mild-hybrid, and internal combustion engine powertrains. That should come as no surprise considering that the compact crossover will probably be the performance star of the series and will be proven to have full EV power. The rumored dual-motor versions with electric all-wheel drive that are supposedly in the works are the cause. Higher-end models will only be allowed to use these, while less expensive models should have front wheels driven by a single motor assembly.
Officially, Alfa Romeo has stated that the debut will happen in April 2025. The model will be displayed during an internal gathering that takes place in Milan, Italy. In September, the first models-likely the EV versions-will presumably begin to appear on the European market. It is anticipated that the mild hybrid model would be added to the portfolio by the end of 2025.
