right right. he was in a bad mood just approaching the car. he jumped in the car with a negative attitude. His review seems like a job that he did not want to do.
He's not serious when I heard him say the Aisin on the F39 M35i is "No Good". Clown comment. I had a 340i and they are exactly the same. Jerks so hard lol Zf was not that significant of a difference.
This is a very inaccurate review. This car is quite fun to drive, quick, sounds good, is comfortable and economical. It's a sport ride for sure, but nothing nearly as bad as he makes it seem. The brakes are amazing on this car, and the handling isnt nearly as bad as he makes it seem.
i love your videos in general but there is some critism coming your way now , i hope you would understand im not writing this as disrespect im just writing these as to help you 1. I love the new intro with Max in the beginning , if you combine it with the highlights of the video its gonna be bomb ! 2. I hate the camera angles and how you guys split the video into 2 , maybe more space for the road and also the placement of the dials were horrible , maybe put them on the front seat next time , not top left corner , top view is already tight and you made it tighter which was a bad choice IMHO . Keep up the good work guys !
Hola! Agradezco infinitamente que tus comentarios respecto a los vehículos que muestras siempre son transparentes y duros, tu sinceridad hace que sea más real tu opinión. Muy pocos como tú, porfavor continúa así. Buen trabajo! Saludos desde México!
I mean it's kinda cool, but we can see that you struggle with understeer ( like in golf r) and if it's a lifestyle vehicle then it should have been softer.
Why can't all these "experienced", "clued up" car journalists understand why BMW had to replace the ZF box with the Aisin box. Easy, the flipping engine is the wrong way around, if they put the ZF box in it would stick out of the side of the car for heaven's sake 😂 the ZF is for longitudinal mounted engines, this and the new M135i have transverse mounted engines. Motoring journalists mechanical knowledge isn't really up there is it 😆 they can present a video but they can't get their heads around this simple matter of "it won't fit"!
Why this guy hates so much? Come on, it's a 2-liter turbo tuned by M performance, crossover, with Haldex (front axle bias). Audi and VW have been producing such cars since years but he didn't hate any of them. The car is very nice with much trunk space and very fun to drive. The only negative thing is its weight and the transmission which can handle up to 480nm and limits any performance tuning.
Power and good handling aren't mutually exclusive. The MX-5 is all about fun and it's underpowered. You can drive an M-sport 320i way too fast on a country road, you don't need a 340 for that. You'll appreciate a sportier setup then. But given the some 4k price of the M-sport package, personally I'd get a more powerful engine tbh.
Its like that lap dancing club vip area...yea promise the girls are even better with loads to offer and have the solution to all your problems, full package. Then you leave a mess, skint with the solution to your problems in your own hand
I think BMW wants to make some big margins on first time SUV buyers who will put a lot of money to have some sporty badging but do not necessarily want the sporty car. Like everything SUV, it will sell like crazy even though it's not at the usual BMW quality level.
All very true what you say about the “lifestyle” cars that many manufacturers are offering. Most people buy them because they look the part of the cool cars but the majority of people never even get them anywhere close to the limits of their capabilities. In Germany on the autobahn you can come close to seeing their high speed limits but to understand the handling limits you need to track the cars which most people will never do. It is unfortunate that the older M cars had such a mystique about them and now every second BMW has some sort of M badge plastered all over the outside and inside of it, definitely watering down the marque. Put any kind of M, AMG or S badge on the vehicle and charge a stiff premium. People with money will flock to them.
Aisin make very reliable gearboxes some might say bullet proof this could be the reason BMW are using them, I really enjoy your videos but would never find myself going flat out down the motorway so maybe this car is for me??
So you were saying that despite the lower bhp the normal X2 as a daily would be just fine? Definitely this M35i model's suspension is over-stiff to really allow the car to dig-into the corners that coupled with the 20inch runflat rare-sized tyres make that okay amount of power become wasted - sure it'll feel "sporty" to the lay-person/general consumer but sadly it isn't. Shame as it looks good, exhaust sounds okay and overall has decent potential. Maybe after 2 or 3 years the suspension will mellow (as BMWs seem to do excessively) and it wouldn't feel as hard a ride, but those tyres...
Basically sounds like BMW got the suspension settings and gearbox completely wrong on this particular model. Probably the ZF automatic doesn't fit with the front drive, transverse engine setup - cannot think of any reason why BMW would not have gone with the ZF otherwise.
You're confusing terminology here. There are M cars, M Performance cars and M Sport cars. unfortunately cars for petrol heads are already pretty rare. and i think that his one here can be fun, because it's just fast. you can push it all-day long and it's fast. golf r fast if you know what I mean. no emotion, just fast.
And it should stay on your list as it will mine. I think what the reviewer is missing is that the "pure" driving dynamics cars from BMW, AUDI, Mercedes, etc. are out of reach for most people price wise, and most people who try to drive "those" cars at or near their limits will undoubtable crash them. This car is plenty fast and would be fun on public roads and highways as a fun daily driver and "yes" you get a cool looking "premium mark" vehicle. What is the crime in that?
Its sold as a performace car. It doesnt really make sense an SUV thats basically a raised up and bulked up 1 Series that is then lowered back down again. It mainly aimed at soccer moms, who want a flashy raised then lowered SUV.
I'm done with BMW. Been a loyal owner since the 90's but when they got away from the hydraulic racks and the fucking fake engine noises, I'm just done. It's not longer the ultimate driving machine.
Obviously, they don't care anymore!! They just want to sell their shit cans!! No matter how, no matter how many They have an idea to compensate this subject bu cutting the cost of production..just like chinese cars!! The new generation BMWs are not like the older ones in anyways!! The build quality has declined terribly!!!
I love this car
I don't know why there's alot of criticism from this guy.

Whats it like offroad and for towing?
I clicked the video und thought its the new 1 series hahaha

X2 is 1er Hatchback
looks better than new 1 series

Thanks Max, I ordered my one today!
No roof rails!!
Peace From London. 👍🏻👍🏻
I am getting my one in one week and I can't wait...
I like the intro and every other stuffs but POV while ur driving plz Max...
I love that back design damn...
Hyper critical on what is a great car to drive high spec all wheel drive 300+ HP I take delivery of mine on Tuesday
I mean it's kinda cool, but we can see that you struggle with understeer ( like in golf r) and if it's a lifestyle vehicle then it should have been softer.
Yeah the Golf R it is a lifestyle but the VW golf gti tcr is so cool car but it was nice

The aisin gearbox is because it’s a transverse engine with transaxle. Zf 8 is for longitudinal set ups for rwd platform.
Totally agree, it's becoming not the "Ultimate Driving Machine". but "Ultimate Lifestyle Gimmick"
in 2023 that is definitely true, just look at the new XM model!
LOVE BMW X2 M35i
They no longer use the ZF gearbox because the ZF is made for longitudinal engines and not transverse as this one. It is sad :(
Yeah, BMWs are slowly transforming in to Volvos....
Every MY2019+ loaner BMW I’ve driven does the shove on upshift. In the Mini Countryman S, it’s enough to rock the entire car, front and rear.
You know what would be really immersive.....
Having the driver wear a pov cam while you sit beside him telling the specs
👌🏻

Exactly my Opinion. Great Video 💯👍
Guy deffo sniffed a line before the vid
For the sport+ mode, double press on sport button
😂
POV with GoPro is super much better, Interior, is exacly what make your channel special!
Nice car
Max Buddy You Always Review Great Cars Video
Thannx Max this week it is going to be my car
Lifestyle BMW: SUV, 4 Cylinder, crap FWD/AWD
Rather have a Golf R.
I really can't find the sense on putting those M Sport packages in ‘non-sport’ cars, unless it had a little more power
I agree, and according to Carwow the X2 is not as sporty as the x1
Over 300 hp, 0-60 in 4.6-4.7 how much more do you need?

@@dademack3544 especially for the money. You want 400+ hp, be prepared to pay $75K for a BMW and don't complain
It really needs a true M performance engine like the X3M. i like the styling of X2 better than X3. Come one BMW Build it!
X2 with m2 comp i6 would be mint
An inline 6 wouldn't fit in this car so they won't make one.
pretty powerfull engine tho, my old 3.5 maxima struggled above 200 km/h
We want pov :(
Guys, my opinion, i prefere pov view. For the rest, nice review as usual.
This guy is being pissed
At 250 kph
Ignace Helsen Hes a petrolhead duh
I'm loving the new camera angles and style. Keep up the good work

Thank you for the clear words!
My 435i Msport jerks the box when in sport mode and that's a ZF
Great looking car, really fast and well built.
Wat un lekker weertje
Something like a Mini Country Man JCW?!))

By the looks of all the huge market adjustments car dealers are getting away with in 2022, seems people with money will flock to ANY car.
Ik kan niet wachten tot jullie een m340i pop review gaan maken
Aisin make very reliable gearboxes some might say bullet proof this could be the reason BMW are using them, I really enjoy your videos but would never find myself going flat out down the motorway so maybe this car is for me??
It’s because the engine is transverse.
Oh well I can cross this one off my list looks like it's the alfa stelvio ti sport for me.
Your expectation for this model is now a bit outdated. As you say, the consumer it’s aimed at is not a specialist
Pleas do the old Review of drive test

ZF is a lot better than the Aisin....
Worry less about the market the car is for and more about the nuts and bolts of the car.
Max seems happy with the car.
not really
dominoc5 nop😂😂
very good review! Now we all know which bmw x2 to avoid. Esp when a x3 m40 diesel is just a small amount expensivier.
Did you prefer this X2 M35i or the SQ2?
Nice 1 🔥🔥
i'm BMW fanboy but, this... THIS IS FAILURE
Meh too But I am old BMW fann
have you driven this car?
Pov view is best.
Basically sounds like BMW got the suspension settings and gearbox completely wrong on this particular model. Probably the ZF automatic doesn't fit with the front drive, transverse engine setup - cannot think of any reason why BMW would not have gone with the ZF otherwise.
ZF doesn't make a trans axle transmission..........
@@frankvestal4736ZF 9 speed is transverse
if you would pair this Video with a real 0-100 time it would be perfect
Max would you compare this crossover to a merc gla45 amg?
That car awesome nice video btw
They use the Aisin gearbox because the motor is transversely mounted... the ZF only works for longitudinally mounted engines like all other BMWs.
There’s someone sitting at the back 🤣🤣
This review did not age well.
LOL
how much is the weight off this compact car ?
Great review, camera is terrible. It’s like your using a drone.
Why not POV
next 35i 3 cylinder
review the infiniti q60 red sport
330i seems quicker to me, what does dragy say in times?
wtfdididolastnight check out our scoreboard 👍 its in the description
@@AutoTopnl lol wrong this is faster. Sick list btw 😅
The AISIN Transmission may not be as good as a normal BMW transmission, but it is a lot more reliable because AISIN is owned by Toyota.
As if the ZF8 used in virtually all BMWs has any reliability issues lol.
This is a very cool car like a drug lord for lot of power but Max that is what my mum likes
thats a weird rendering artifact at 5:00
This is not a full-on M competition car, this car is classified under X2 branding. Why did you keep comparing it to a M performance car?
exactly my thoughts
You're confusing terminology here. There are M cars, M Performance cars and M Sport cars.
M cars are M2, M3, etc.
M Performance cars are M240i, M240i, etc.

Its shame hearing tires in the front we are used to hear tires at the back 😎
I can't agree more than this Max,great review..Bmw just lost it....
unfortunately cars for petrol heads are already pretty rare. and i think that his one here can be fun, because it's just fast. you can push it all-day long and it's fast. golf r fast if you know what I mean. no emotion, just fast.
such a shame. x2 m35 was on my list of 5 to replace 170hp j.renegade next december

I love this car max is talking shit
you need not understand what bmw thinking to built this car, you need to buy it for a lot of money and bmw is happy.
Not a patch on my FK8 and a lot cheaper to buy.
Go back to POV. This is literally worse.
WTF did he think this vehicle was? He is seriously hating on it which doesn't make sense.
Its sold as a performace car. It doesnt really make sense an SUV thats basically a raised up and bulked up 1 Series that is then lowered back down again. It mainly aimed at soccer moms, who want a flashy raised then lowered SUV.
Front Wheel Drive BMW is a sufficient and enough reason to not buy this 4wheel can!!!
We have to believe that BMW is no longer the machine we knew!!!
A little exaggerated he just shit on it the whole time
ZF 8 speed auto gearbox is the best ever, same the X2 doesn't have it.
it doesn't fit in transverse mounted engines.......
Is the car small or are you just that tall
he seems bias to another car that he is not mentioning and disgruntled with the BMW brand in general.
I've had the m235i 2014 - 2017 and I this is just some low budget crap with less settings, less sound (only fake sound).. poor setup in general..
I'm done with BMW. Been a loyal owner since the 90's but when they got away from the hydraulic racks and the fucking fake engine noises, I'm just done. It's not longer the ultimate driving machine.

Yep another marketing ploy like an iphone 6 and iphone 6s....a marketing joke really by these large cooperations to reel in the ignorant
but so much better than the new 1er!!!!!!!!
You need to stop reviewing 2 litre cars most people would be very happy with 300bhp plus not everyone wants a 3 litre thirsty beast.
All Bmw-s are good
Period
FF?
why is this so sad??? I don't understand this review at all - is there anything wrong with "something cool and something fast"?
Ouch.
Not Buying.
We have a good X1 et X3 but this car in the video is just unnecessary made ... 😥
BMW wants to make more money and sell cheaply made, expensive branded cars to people with chiuauas in their purses.....
If i wanted a gla45amg i would buy a gla not this knockoff
