2:00 it's so funny to me that streamers call the game "gambling" all the time after the game was rated R18 because of gambling, even though it's a game where you can't wager a single cent, while Fifa and NBA are E for everyone even though you can gamble your parent's entire life savings on Ultimate Team packs. So I'm just wondering if they're jabbing at that rating every time it happens.
While I do agree that it's hypocritical for games with lootbox or gotcha mechanics shouldn't be rated E if they're acting like gambling in games should merit higher rating... Baltro has some gamble mechanics baked into it. On the immediate surface it's just a card game, but there are gamble modifiers you can add to jokers, cards, and some tarot/spec redeems. There's also the implication of you playing cards to win chips in which you exchange for cash, but then end up wagering everything for more chances to earn money. Like a casino, but never explicitly mentioning a casino. It's a very subtle style of gambling that's not as malicious, because no real world stakes are made. Just a risk of ending a run with your current deck. If the gambling clause of game rating was changed to "promoting spending real world money for chance redeems" instead, there would be a drastic shift in a lot of games ratings for the better. Though the greedy malicious cooperations would just make it something like a battle pass or a subscription or something adjacent to a paid character redeem instead and charge more out of spite of losing their easy repeat gamble money.

It certainly has elements of gambling, you're right about that, but in the end it's more of a strategy game, and real gambling relies on the fact that the player can't alter the outcome of the game too much(some rare exceptions apply, but in those the players are heavily regulated to make sure those that aren't too good aren't let in, like card counters etc). It would certainly be good if the concept of "predatory gambling" or whatever one might want to call it was made more evident. With battle passes and subscriptions, one can only pay a limited amount of money to engage with the "fun mechanics that give the player a sense of pride and accomplishment", with gambling the well is infinite. Even if you have the absurd "the color red for your gun costs 25$" there's a limit to the amount of money you can toss into the game. Anyway, I doubt it'll change during my lifetime.

Literally the only real similarity with real poker is that it uses the same card combinations. The credit to cash thing is bullshit because it's not related at all. Credits is only there as a win condition. Could literally be called anything, but they went with the poker theme. Poker is a game that can be played without money gambling.
