After all the concerts I've been too for Depeche Mode, Devotional was the best. All the drugs and drinking and the perfection of that tour makes it look like he's ready for a retirement home. Last two tours I couldn't spend money on the same old dribble from the last 3 albums. Long live Old Depeche Mode.
How to totally remove all flavour from an otherwise well seasoned song! (not like I was expecting anything from the snore fest that are the Soul Slavers mind you)
I like Dave Gahan, but so many of the songs are convoluted, boring, and disjointed. He has talent and he shows it on only two proven tracks "Always on My Mind" and "Smile". Much the same as Depeche Mode, the songwriting is dreadful and they should get other people to write some songs....They could have someone like Jimmy Webb, Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, or even Andrew Farriss. They have to admit their own stuff is weak.
