These earlier ThinkPads are/were amazing PCs. Great build quality, fantastic keyboard, upgradability and extensive list of ports. Sadly, the current generation of ThinkPads are losing a lot of these features. This is a real shame as the ThinkPad in basically unique and those of us who love them buy the.m for these reasons. I have a ThinkPad X270 which is very similar to the X250. My daily driver in a ThinkPad E490 which is also a very good machine. I fear, the ThinkPad as we know and love it will become a thing of the past in the years ahead as it morphs to just another Lenovo brand.

Hi there, I'm writing from my x250. I bought it last year for 200EUR and have been using it for the past 6 months. It came with all bells and whistles: mint condition, cpu i7, FHD IPS, backlit keyboard, fingerprint sensor. I replaced the fan for better cooling, wifi 6E AX200, additional drive in WWAN port (I dual boot Zorin OS and Win 10), also upgraded ram to 16gb. It came with barely worn-out batteries. It's a great laptop. I also own x270 and x280. In my view x270 was the pinnacle of this line. All it needed was 13.3 screen, quad-core cpu and ram in dual channel. That is it. I hate apple and will never own any of their products as they set up a stupid trend of thinner all-soldered ultrabooks. I can accept x280 as I don't mind soldered ram (16gb is enough for my needs) or lack of replaceable battery. I don't know how I would feel about x13 starting from 2nd gen. Even keyboard is getting worse and whitelisting of ports is back.

The X250 is a fine system and perfectly usable for office/browing users. It also runs Linux very well. But the X270 and X280 are quicker and not much more expensive. So, unless you get a very good deal on one, it's probably worth a few quid to get a slightly newer model.
