Use stop losses and sit on your hands a lot - wait until the opportunity for big reward with minimal risk presents (and one where your instinct tells you it's on) then go in taking on risk. Don't buy and hold if it goes against you, unless you are specifically investing/speculating long-term. Many a time I have traded a stock without a stop only to have it whipsaw or grind slowly away from me to then suddenly decide "I'm swinging this" to ""I can wait..." to "ah, maybe I'm investing in this". Don't be that guy who is the market's play thing. Control your risk and pick your trades wisely. You will find success over time.

I am reading Trading in the zone now. I wonder if there really can be a market for all this trading psychology and all these books. Let me drill them all down to one sentence for you. Trade with a strategy that works and follow the rules and you will be successful.
