    One of the most beautiful, enigmatic and fascinating art forms.

    Oh how very cool… it took maybe two mins of focusing on the main actor and his mask… then it was like my brain began to see the masks changing expressions as the movements of the actor’s body slowly changed. What the man said about being “neutral in your performance” is the best way to have a successful one… is EXACTLY right 🙌

    Art in itself is a ritual of taken so lightly it can come across as arrogant to nature’s way of simply been. The Japanese have a close spiritual intimacy with the stories that not only ties them to their land but their people.

    The Japanese worshiped the spirits that was in relationship with their land and by recognizing that they respected nature

    Nō, which was originally the performance of the religious ceremony, is an excellent art, but Nō's world is sooooooo conservative. Nō’s world is supported mainly based on patriarchal heredity, and only men are allowed to play.

      It's because the dance though appears to be easy is actually very difficult; the actor becomes an empty vessel for the particular spirit being invoked and so the actor has to have the spiritual strength to deal with that person's past life and whatever he or she will convey to the actor which is then transmuted by the actor for the benefit of his community. In ancient Japan and China, purification of the past by the priest was part of ancestry worship and communion because the past is linked to the present. So, they developed a highly refined way of achieving these goals.

      Conservativism is just another word for being serious about what it is that you do because human life is very difficult and conservativism makes sure how things are done is preserved in such a way as to obtain the same goal without having to compromise the method.

      Japan is a very conservative culture. Very refined culture.

    Anything with masks is creepy!
    And having creepy music makes it even creepier!

      Most of the stories in the plays do depict spirits of many kinds! (Characters especially with masks are meant to be of supernatural or spiritual origin)

    • @laerwen
      @laerwen หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Perhaps it's "creepy" because it is not understood. Once it is, it is less fearsome and more familiar. Think of it like storytelling of gods and spirits.

    • @bean1731
      @bean1731 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@laerwen I mean, it straight up says in the beginning that a demon, god or warlard possesses the person. So I think its fair to say that its creepy. But just because its creepy doesn't mean it doesn't also have artistic value as well. Two things can be true
