    I enjoy the rustic feel of the audio and the setting. Have you ever thought about making videos on how to make blackpowder? I make it at home. Learning metallurgy, blackpowder and combining them together. With real science could be a huge bloom for you. I think a lot of people are looking for videos that combine these aspects. A lot of us just want to have a skillset that will keep ourselves self-sufficient in hard times.

    New sub and watching my second video so that the sub sticks. I'm from south Georgia and it's nice to connect with a fellow Georgia. Take care and have a blessed week ahead Chad.

    Welcome back brother, we all missed you here. I'll pray for you and your family medical issues. Hopefully your return means that crime is down in your area? As for the weather, we're in the same boat up here in Pa. But we're getting a small taste of that Fall weather here too....finally!
    I'm not a smith anymore, I do stock removal, but I love watching you work and seeing your finished knives.
    I am amazed that you don't have at least a million subscribers???
    Looking forward to your next project. I can't wait for my notification. Keep making the videos.:~))))

    I’ve attempted a couple of your methods, you make it look easy but you no doubt have a great talent. Good luck on the deer hunting. Bow hunting is the best thing ever

    I appreciate the work that you do in sharing your forge work with us on these videos. Your technique seems to always produce great results on these projects. I particularly enjoy the work that you do on the smaller frontier and hunting knives. Do you have a site in which you offer your creations for sale?

    • @oldsouthforge831

      Hey smoky. Thank you for watching! I don’t actually have a site other than facebook but you can look me up at Chad Matthews. You can get in touch with me on there. Thank you again!

    I have forged a couple of knives in your style but in wish you would do a video on how you put the finish on your blades do you just sand the flats or what

    • @oldsouthforge831
      @oldsouthforge831  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jeff! I use a file on my blades to true in the bevels then I sand them a little with sand paper to knife off some of the scale. I am really glad you are watching and really glad my videos have helped you. Keep on !

    Also can you pour Brass instead of pewter, or would you just burn your handles, cheers thanks

    • @oldsouthforge831
      @oldsouthforge831  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The brass melts at a much higher temperature so it would be too hot to pour onto the handle

    Do you ever have blades warp on you during the Quinch? With that steel?

    • @oldsouthforge831
      @oldsouthforge831  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Craig. Luckily I don’t have that problem often. I am always sure to anneal my steel before I forge it and before the quench

    • @oldsouthforge831
      @oldsouthforge831  ปีที่แล้ว

      The video I did on annealing the steel might help you if your having problems.

      @@oldsouthforge831 ok, I’ll check it out.
      I do knives by stock removal, and get some warping occasionaly.
      I’m wanting to start forging my blades and the type of blades you make are what I like, rustic looking, 18th century style

    • @oldsouthforge831
      @oldsouthforge831  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@craigcook1571 still anneal the steel before you quench. Are you using new steel or old spring? If you are using old stock it needs to be annealed before you quench. And don’t get it too hot or overly hot
