Thank you so much, Kristy, for this wonderful interview! I am so inspired! Could you share the pattern name of the shawl the store representative was wearing that you interviewed? She said it was an icelandic sweater knitted in Einband but I could not find the pattern name.
I see all of that wool and those beautiful sweaters, and I wonder how they ensure that no moths or bugs get into it. With everyone taking it home to their home conditions, and then back. What a magnificent store and tour! Thanks Kristi!!!
wow, it's like a yarn utopia. I really wanted to see the sweaters more, you passed by them so quick! i saw one with i think some roses that looked beautiful they all are just gorgeous really love the volcanic design and the horses also.
Before I started watching the video, I pulled out yarn to make one of the sweaters (Öræfi) you showed. I bought the kit a couple of years ago and thought I should get started on it. I took it as a sign:) Such an interesting video!
Thanks you so much for this video, especially the scenes! I visited the 2nd store 1 1/2 years ago and got my own sweater and yarn and pattern for a vest. I love my sweater and wear it all the time. It’s an amazing operation! This brought back such great memories. I would like to buy ALL the Sweaters!
What a great video. This is so cool that we can experience Iceland thru you! I has a couple hour layover when I was on my way to Norway. After watching this Iceland series I should plan a stop over if I go back to Norway!
I have so enjoyed this series from Iceland! I just finished my first Lopi sweater from a kit from Ysolda Teague the pattern is Bleideag. Your series tied the land, people, and sheep together for me.
since 2 weeks I`m knitting with plötulopi and I love it so much! I hold it single with a very thin MohairAlpaka yarn (1500m/100g) and it works really well and its still light. I knit the Miles Shirt Jacket. Thank you for sharing this all, need to go there one day....
My friend went with a tour group to Iceland this past summer and really had an enjoyable holiday, and went yarn shopping for me. Now I have more yarns coming so I can knit up a couple sweaters
Oh, have fun in Iceland! Such a different country than the US... and I loved that yarn association shop! Loved all the Lopi sweaters. I bet you’ll find a big difference in Rekjavik than your last visit!! ( I bought some beautiful Marino yarn there to knit a pair of socks to remind me of my trip to Iceland!)
Please do not refer to machine-knitted sweaters as "cheaters." That is very disrespectful to those who have created a beautiful garment, using a very different skill set. Would you call a machine-sewn quilt a "cheater"?
I learned a lot from a machine knitter I had on my channel. I think I was probably saying it in a teasing way. I have a lot of respect for all makers, including machine knitters. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi Kristy! I am headed to Iceland in a couple of weeks and I am so hyped to get one of these amazing treasures! Do you know if they can custom make sweaters for larger sizes? My husband wants one but he is a really big guy and I just know they wouldn't have his size.
I suggest checking the thrift stores ! They are made from the hands of Icelanders for a variety of bodies and will be less $$. But do ask the shop owners at hand knitting ass. Maybe they will work with you.

I love their philosophy! Those garments are timeless, indeed.

Two years later, I was hoping to see that answer.
I think it`s a mostly cold environment .... but I thought that as well :)

I’ve been to the Hespa dyeing studio, it was magical!
you can get yarn in grocery store in Norway as well, probobly not icelandic yarn though,
21:45 I've bought a couple of lopayesas there; plus a hat and scalf made of pure Icelandic wool.

Kristy, what's the name of the sweater in black and that fiery looking wool, like lava, that you looked at in the store?
It doesn’t have a name, it’s her own creation
@@kristyglassknits thank you Kristy! Can one order it?
Yes. Send an email to handknit@handknitted.is
