Right from the start of the video the book at 1:10 really caught my eye I’ve always wanted to learn how to read body measurements from using a simple ruler and it seems to show a lot so I’m thinking I might try and ask for it for Christmas!
Hi, Bailey, Thank you for watching and leaving this comment. I do not think you will be sorry if you get this book! It's been a trusty friend to me for many years. So many techniques shown and very well explained. Have a wonderful day!
@@SewWithSally Aw that’s really great to hear and I just discovered your channel today and from what I’ve seen you are a really great sewer and everything to do with sewing so I’ll trust you on your recommendation! 😂 and I also hope you have a good day thank you ☺️
1 I am a beginner in sewing. 2 here we use the metric system. 3 English is not my native language. I don't know if I've done something crazy but I just ordered the 3 books from Amazon. I'm from Spain and I can't find a good pattern making book in Spanish, so I hope this help me. The first one you describe will help me learn all the sewing vocabulary in English. I'm learning by myself. Thank you very much for the book recommendations. The last one seems wonderful to me. I can't wait for them to arrive. 😊
Dear Zul, This is a wonderful comment to read! I am thrilled that you got the books and if I can be of help you can let me know! I have a feeling that once you start reading you will quickly understand. Most tape measures, as you may already know, offer both inches and metric. I think it will be easy for you. I appreciate you writing to me and wish you so much success in your sewing! May I ask, what do you want to learn to sew? Have a great day!
@@SewWithSally Thank you very much for responding 😊 I started sewing because I liked pattern magazines but they gave very little information on how to sew and the garment was too big or small and I didn't know how to adjust it... then I watched some sewing videos and with that I improved a little . I wanted to make a base pattern with my measurements and I bought a book in Spanish but the instructions were very complicated. Thanks to watching videos I was modifying my pattern... but without another person to help me it is difficult because I don't have a mannequin. I ended up with the same result... either too small or too big. That's why I need good books that bring together all the information, how to sew anything, how to create the pattern and most importantly how to adjust it. I will comment in the future on how it goes, when I have the final pattern with my measurements I will be unstoppable 🔥😂
@@zul7724 Unstopable !!!!! My kind of person! Good for you! It's a challenge to get a master pattern/sloper to fit oneself. I had a friend help drape mine and I made the corrections but it was not easy! I am working behind the scenes to come up with a plan for more than one way to make a personal sloper for yourself if you are doing it alone. I look forward to seeing/hearing about your projects and I wish you great luck in this endeavour!
Thank you for these recommendations and for presenting them so thoroughly. I just ordered the pattern making book. If you happen to have a recommendation for a bra making book I hope you will pass that along too.
Dear Plumberrygardenpatch, How happy it makes me to hear you enjoyed the video! Thank you for telling me and I LOVE that you ordered the patternmaking book! It's REALLY good! I will give some thought to the bra making book and get back to you soon. Thanks for watching and for commenting! Take good care, Sally
Nice! The Readers Digest, in a previous edition, was my college textbook, all the way from basic through Fashion Design and Tailoring. Loved it! We also had the Hilde Jaffe Draping book.
