My best friend, who was my brother, passed away on February 1st and always shared so many valuable lessons with me. Neither of us are Jewish, but I always called him "Rabbi" because of his mannerisms and the way he parted wisdom. We also first met when we acted in our high school play, Fiddler on the Roof.
Anyway.. after he passed, you popped into my TH-cam feed. So, with that, I feel you are a gift sent to me from my brother. A true virtuo synchronicity. I know he wouldn't want me to be without knowledge and comfort.
Thank you, Rabbi. Thank you so much for the comfort I need during this time.

Just letting you know l understand what you are saying. I lost my older brother in 92' which changed me in ways l can't begin to explain. But mostly he taught me so much about so much regarding life and how to get on and the self and others who crossed my path. Rabbi Jacobson now means so very much to me. I only wish that my brother, Rabbi and l could have l hr. together. What a blessing that would be. We were not raised Jewish, but l have personally had some remarkable people in my life that were Jewish that l will never forget. Funny you should mention Fiddler, one was in the Broadway production as long as it ran.

I take the blessings we have and cherish them fondly. Thank you for sharing your story with me. If you’re brother is anything like my brother, they’re probably having a beer and enjoying some sort of awesome band in a small venue, discussing their next destination in eternity.
I also hope those changes were positive. Mine has been me reflecting the unconditional love of my brother. He had patience and a love that was something I can’t explain. He watched me be a screw up and just patiently allowed me to fiddle around until I figure it out. I’m grateful for that, and it’s really taught me how to love deeper.

I grew up with a single mother with mental illness and my childhood was very chaotic, sometimes we were homeless living in shelters or tents in the woods and sometimes we had a home but no electricity or running water…I’ve been in this warrior mode for so long it’s hard to know how else to be. And once again, just hearing you talk about this and knowing I’m not alone has helped me immensely. Thanks again for being a voice for people like me who are always on defense but would like to play offense.

in martial arts we say: is better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war.
is very important to train and learn boundaries and set boundaries to protect ourselves and the ones we love. avoiding conflict just makes you a pushover, not a pacifist.

Very well said for the most part. I think the Amish exemplify a work toward peace approach, but they live in community where they can. Personal empowerment is not something that's encouraged in our society and that has cost us a great deal. Everyone is a victim and there is no desire to teach people the wisdom and courage to simply "be".

I live in THE world but I don't have to be a part of it. Yes I must entertain some musts, thing like going shopping but even then my actions, reactions or overreacting are contingent on the maintenance of my Spiritual Condition. Read the transcript from this discourse and you'll discover that shortly into it Rabbi Jacobson focuses on DEFENDING not fighting.

I am the opposite, I came from a religious family called Catholicism, that pretty much controls 80% of the Philippines. Catholicism teaches the narrative that Jews are bad and Romans are good because according to their story, Pharisees were the ones who wanted Jesus dead and the Romans were very reluctant on murdering Jesus. They even mentioned they cleaned their hands before murdering Jesus, so technically don't blame this on the Romans that are occupying Jerusalem, blame it on the Jews who betrayed their brothers. This is what I am getting from their message. Is it TRUE?
Do you agree with that STORY and that Narrative?
Because If I am a gentile who doesn't know the Hebrew scriptures and was blind to the truth. I could be guided by a bunch of false teachers that are teaching me to hate the Jews and that could cause wars.
So, I too want to be open-minded about this kind of story and not just go along with people's narrative... "WHO MURDERED JESUS?"
This is a 2k-year-old cold case file for me that needed disclosure.

    Thank you, Rabbi.
I opened up my Bible and read this Psalm when I woke up:
    ~ The Divine Shepherd ~
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff - they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD my whole life long.
    ... beautiful spiritual nourishment.

From your reply Miss Kitty Whip, I take it you're NOT a spiritual warrior?
I like the description you used, well worded but far fetched. My question is, "how are you ( or me ) a spiritual warrior?" If you are one, why not claim it?
If you Google What Is Spiritual Warrior you can scroll down and every description is different.
I've not studied Eastern WAYS or Paths to convert and adopt every code. But I am a Spiritual Warrior.
One of many thoughts I examine each morning is I AM Not As Important As I Think I Am. When I accept or realize this I become an integral part of the Universal channel of Empathy.
      I'm not disciplined enough, I admit to handle every controversial situation or calamity as a gentleman so I subscribe daily to this fact;;
at any given moment I may become disappointed, frustrated, annoyed or hurt by a person, place or thing.
I accept life on life's terms but I don't live life on life's terms. Life isn't always fair and people aren't always kind. I do however make great efforts every moment to be mindful of my surroundings which includes people, places and things.
I walk proudly and I speak in humble tones. As I go through the day I'm always observing, analyzing myself and other human beings and nature and inanimate objects.
My past is in my past. The dimension I occupy today is the result of years of listening to those wise men and women, self examining, meditation and prayer not forgetting that I've also made every amend possible to anyone I've harmed in some way.
I prefer solitude yet I do socialize to a small degree. And I often do without things to help someone else - with a grateful heart.
As an Empath the overcharged sensory aptitudes I inherently hold run high.
But, intently challenge my unselfishness as a weakness and a different persona metamorphosises. I won't respond violently or maliciously but I will shame you with your own words. My Spirit does not welcome attempts of subjugation.
And those things you mentioned that a Spiritual Warrior FIGHTS FOR, I don't believe you for a second that a Spiritual Warrior fights for them. If you listened intently to Rabbi Jacobson and followed his discourse by reading the transscript, he stated in other words - we DEFEND those things not fight for them. As a former Marine I can assure you I understand what it means to fight and I understand what it means to defend.
I have a saying that came to me one day whilst meditating:
The best thing to do isn't always the right thing to do.
The right thing to do isn't always the best thing to do.
      Grandfather John
      Sober, Spiritual, Supernatural ~

I hear you. I needed this I think. When challenges seem overwhelming and my capacity so small, to understand, to put things in perspective and come up with the right answer. Then I can't think of it in these overall terms. I'm just fighting, looking for an answer that fits. Trying to meet my problem and wondering, why me? Not complaining but thinking 'this never happened to me before. Now its happening all the time. Almost routine. Why now? Why me? Lord, what are you trying to tell me?
Then you mentioned David. My mate. My son the tough business man. Demanding, clever, charming to meet but full frontal and challenging to me, his own father.
From a small child he was able to come up with answers that I could not see, Noone else could. We played with sticks as swords, with boats, with chess pieces. He already could beat me. He became a martial arts man and then a tradesman, then a business man. TOUGH. Reliable. But to me, a child, soft, listening. A true King David.
I remember David in the cave with sleeping Saul. Able to conquer his arch enemy with a stroke of his sword. But staying his hand. Saying "This is the chosen of the Lord. He must not be killed."
But he left Saul a message. 'killroy was here!' tread carefully with me.
    A profound warning to Saul.
'You have human power only so long as our Divine beloved wills it.'
Thank you Rabbi, for explaining and spelling this point out.
'if it was easy, then everyone would be doing it'.
It means 'if the challenge is tough, and God has given it to you, you must be up for it.'

    This is very insightful.
I deal with another dichotomy, within the world of the Warrior itself.
We enter the dark world of danger and duplicity, in order to get what is needed to survive,.
This is to function as a Warrior.
However, one of the main traits needed to survive as an employee is submission.
Do as one is told. Do not aggravate the Boss.
    Here is the conundrum.
How to be Warrior-like AND submissive at the same time.
It's very, very difficult and tricky to integrate these two.
It reeks of duplicity and hypocrisy at every moment.

Thank you again Rabbi for your thoughts and wisdoms. I'm learning so much at youth at 71. I have been blessed by genetics as far as holding on to visual self. I must say that I'm learning so much more these days and it makes my heart soar to unexpected heights. My heart and soul are more open now to goodness than l ever remember. I listen to your words of your wisdoms and feel so vindicated in how l got here. I didn't understand so much way back then. Suddenly I'm embracing my advanced age in a way l never felt possible. I'm no longer afraid of discussing everlasting life. I'm beginning to understand so much. I have and am a student of Kabbalah and that's when this understanding began some 7to9 years ago. Now l have found you and I believe it to be yet another blessing. Stay well my friend.....laters

As a lover of the Psalms, I am often asked to justify the infamous bloody bits of Psalm 137. I now just point here :) תודה רבה
