Smart Evolution (1994 - 2022)
Smart is a German automotive brand and division of Daimler AG. The marque is based in Böblingen, Germany. It produces microcars and subcompacts, primarily the Fortwo and Forfour.
The primary assembly plant is the Smartville in Hambach, France. Renault-owned Revoz, based in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, has also assembled Smart vehicles.
Smart is marketed in 46 countries around the world, and production of the Fortwo had surpassed 1.7 million units by early 2015.
In 2019, Daimler announced an establishment of a joint venture partnership with Chinese automaker Geely.
In 2021, the first concept of this partnership, appropriately called Concept #1, was unveiled at the Munich Motor Show.

Still a great looking little car with a big huge heart ❤ I love my 2009 Smart convertible. The design still looks great all those years on. I'm hoping to keep it for a longtime to come. Smart, just keeps getting better with each new model that they introduce. I'm looking forward to their new SUV. I might just swap my Kia Sportage for one. Keep the innovations coming and warter our appetite for more of this great brand!! The only downside at the moment is that the new electric Smart only does 50 miles. Come on Smart.....let's have one that does at least 150 to 200 miles. If Fiat can do it. I'm sure Smart can too!! ❤❤👍👍

I had a 2008 Smart Fortwo Pure then traded it in for a 2012 Smart Fortwo Passion. It was getting expensive to repair; Smart also stopped selling their cars in the USA. I think it was a mistake not to sell the Forfour and roadster here in the USA.

Surprised you didn’t research it before hand, it’s well documented as a cult-classic car that most people don’t like/car reviewers. The unfortunate thing about it is in the US it’s mostly ded, because a lot of dealerships don’t support them anymore due to Smart pulling out of the market here regarding combustion engine smarts.

@@Masterslessons Yes I didn't say it wasn't reliable nor did I say you can't get parts. OEM parts though are at a markup and annoying to get for major repairs, and for everything else ebay motors/smart-madness suffices. I've owned two, a beautiful 451 with the panoroof, and a 451 cabrio from hell (shit was actually fubar, with electrical problems, degrading plastics & dead transmission, I was just to stubborn to realize that when I bought it). I learned a lot from my ownership of them & they were cars I had when I first got into cars so I wasn't terribly knowledgeable of anything I was doing to them. The SmartUSA forums are friendly and active which helped immensly during my ownership, and I loved the rearengined 3cyl because the sound paired with the ride was on a goofy level of fun. However I was more stating that the Smart experience shouldn't be most peoples dailys, or second car because you really have to know who can work on them in your area before hand & a majority of drivers are not enthusiasts, so "people who don't know cars" was literally the point.
