    That castle walking around with the little tower and person on it looks so awesome. It's like a variety of the old idea of witches having a house that can get up and walk around.

    For anyone curious, they also sell an add-on on their site to adapt the rules for 2 players! If you want to play this with a friend or your partner or something
    5 minutes into this video I went and ordered the book and cards. Just the beautiful art and design alone made me want it, but it also seems like a fun game :)

    I did a pathfinder module that was basically like this setting, where it was impossibly large tower and the players had to make their way upwards to try to find the top floor to make a wish.
    (i basically borrowed the setting from Tower of God) But it was pretty cool making different Bioms and even jumps in setting (cyberpunk type setting on a floor, western on another possibly) I had it set up to randomize via die roll.

    The game world setting here is amazing and as someone totally new to the world of tabletop rpgs, I want more solo specific titles with this quality. I don't see it as any negative to also add that less "game" and more "mindful escapist journeying" is definitely not a reason for to pass this by. Such a superb job by Nick. Looking forward to another one! 😁 😁
    Note, totally agreed on the cards, very rough edges sadly, but, BUT, they are beautiful ♥

      Give Ironsworn a try. The whole book and accessories such as cards and maps are available ad pdfs for free. It delivers a really interesting world to explore, has really simple rules but enough crunch to really make you think about how you react to the world, and it's playable solo or with friends, plus it's easy to hack. Wan a play in the land of Hyrule? You can. Prefer Middle Earth? You can do that. I play it all the time and i highly recommend it.

  • @TheByteknight
    @TheByteknight 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm playing it. I like it and discovered I like journaling games. However, the rules are a bit too simplistic and I can see the prompts getting repetitive. I can see people house ruling things as it's not clear at times what happens. For instance, I came upon a dead man with an item, which turned out to be a potion. Is the potion safe, dangerous, what does it do? One needs more prompts in these cases. Other stuff as well like only having a couple of items to buy with merchants seems disappointing. Again, and etc, more house ruling to be done the longer one plays I suspect.

    Two things: Your editing needs some work. Try cutting out tertiary comments and downtime in your video.
    Next: I am getting into solo play pretty heavily now, and I've been RPing all my life, but this setting is just bonkers. In a bad way. The beings that could make a single ROOM hold an ocean, can't also make nearly microscopic devices (the tiny rooks that are pets), all while still being a fantasy setting. This is a "set aside your brain" kind of game that asks you to not think critically about anything, which I am just NOT cool with. My imagination wants to explore and know the hows and whys. This ain't it for me.
