3:10 The reason a VR games visuals are blurry outside the focal point is not because of Fresnel lenses, it is because they are using Fixed Foveated Rendering (FFR) and only making the center have the highest resolution. It a game is doing that, it doesn't matter if the headset has Fresnel or Pancake lens, only the focal point is rendered at highest quality so if you look to sides using eyes instead of head movement, you will see lower resolution / blurry image because those parts of the game are expected to be seen by your peripheral vision which doesn't see high detail anyway. To have full clarity within headset no matter where you look, you either need high-end PCVR that can render all parts of all frames at highest quality, or your headset needs eye-tracking and then the game uses Eye-Tracked Dynamic Foveated Rendering (ETDFR). In this scenario, you can look around within your headset using eyes and still see highest quality no matter where you look. Where Pancake lens are better is in allowing the player to wear the headset less optimally and still see the display panels more clearly. You still have to wear your headset correctly (especially vertically) when using Pancake lens or you will get fish bowl effect around the edges or other distorted visuals, and you still should dial in your IPD to be right for your eyes or you will get more headaches. If the Quest 3 with its Pancake lens did not still require IPD adjustments for optimal use, they would not have provided the physical dial to adjust it. The same way they don't provide a decent face shield, properly charging adapter (18w included, 45w recommended), crap headset strap included that everyone will have to replace.
Fresnel lenses absolutley are more fuzzy around the edges due to how they work. Yes, the headset renders for optimization of the center, but it only takes one experiment to physically see that with pancake lenses the edge clarity is MUCH better than fresnel lenses. I still switch between headsets regularly in dogfighting games and the fresnel lenses have a very clear center and not clear edges. Pancake is not the case. Just try it out. Otherwise there would literally be no point in having pancake.

After the first mission, this game is kinda meh...
Oh man I couldn't disagree more. Though....I LOVE the first mission. It's not hard.... there's not much to do, you're just flying by a plane. As the game goes on you actually get to points where you die. Lol. Real challenges, upgrades and skills needed. Could use more environments but not unhappy.
You said after the first mission. Just curious....Was the first mission awesome to you or did you feel it was a good starting point and nothing ever got better?
@superhippieman yeah basically a good start that fizzled out.. It's not a really bad game. it's just not amazing
@@MrDeathwishVR I respect the opinion 🙌
Super disagree but I could see how the first mission could be a high point that never felt met again. It's got a real "super hero" vibe to it. As a major superman fan I was like.... this is a superman game that is actually GOOD 😅 if only.
@superhippieman I mean, I get if you wanna promote the game so everyone buys it using your referral but I don't play like that, this game first appeared a couple years back for the psvr1 and it wasn't that good then, so to say it dominates on quest 3 when there are much higher quality games on the system is a big stretch..
@@MrDeathwishVR not dominates the quest 3, it dominates ON quest 3. Literally just iron man vs iron man. The game is best on quest 3.
This game was awful on Quest 2 and 3.
Do tell! I mean saying it's awful is easy. What aspects about the game made you find it so bad? Why was it also bad on quest 3?
@@superhippieman so I've played at least a hundred different titles in VR, Iron Man just fell off the whole time. On the Quest 2 and the quest 3. It's one of the only titles that made me have motion sickness.
@@2Guys1ControllerShow ooohhh. You never got your VR legs. This game hasn't made me sick at all with zero comfort settings. 100s means nothing to improve motion sickness if they're not motion sickness inducing. Only play for small bits until you get used to it.
@@superhippieman I have 1000s of hours in VR. I definitely have my "VR" legs lol.
There's something with the fps/fov that makes Iron Man very off putting for me.
@@2Guys1ControllerShow weird. I had no issue. Im a light weight with motion sickness. Lots of new games have given a little after an hour of play even after gaining my vr legs in flight sims. This one didn't. Do you think that's the only thing that ruined it or were you also unimpressed by story, graphics, gameplay etc.
