Wow, Rick. That tone is just the stuff I hear in my dreams. I have an RG565 too, it's one of my all time favorites. Mine is Laser Blue with matching blue DiMarzio setup.
I just started trying to learn guitar less than a month ago. A friend of ours gave us this same RG565 as a gift that belonged to her son when he was a kid. I googled it looking for parts and your video came up. That's so inspiring man!!
i have a 565 that I bought in 1991. Lazer blue. Still have it.....and still love it. Swapped the pickups out for dimarzio evolution and another dimarzio single coil one (can't remember the model). Pickups have blue covers, volume knobs swapped out for blue ones, and blue selector switch tip. It looks amazing....and even though I don't play much anymore.....I would never get rid of this work of art. BTW.....KILLER playing!
They are two different models. Both built and released at the same time, but the 565 is a single coil neck with a humbucker bridge, reversed headstock and maple fretboard. The 550 is H-S-H pickup config, standard headstock and rosewood fretboard. They both have the same tremolo bridge system, and 'wizard' profile neck, however. I got the same RG565 as Rick last month, and it's honesty the best neck I've ever played on
Not as cool as my 1993 Rg750 in metallic red with original C series PUs. Yes the Original PUs were made by DiMazio and voiced for the RG with extended lows and highs and cannot be improved on...They offer the perfect balance throughout the frequencies for RG guitars.
So, I have a question for anyone who may know to answer. I try to play a couple different string skipping legato passages, but really have trouble just getting the notes to come out. I don't consider myself to be very sloppy at them or anything, it just seems no matter how hard I try and hammer on, I can't get a good note out. Might it be because of the amp I'm using? It's a Line 6 Spider IV. Just a practice amp.
Are you using a very high gain tone? The reason I ask its that most modelling amps have a very aggressive noise gate, could this be th he issue? Do you practice techniques with a clean/unplug ed tone?
Ben Caffrey I just recently dialed in a high gain tone that I think sounds a bit like Rick's. Now, I haven't tried these legato phrases too much on that tone, but I never had any luck on the generic metal/insane amp model tones. Which I think kinda suck now. I have the noise gate off completely. I do practice with a clean tone every now and then. I practice unplugged a good bit, but the majority of my practice goes with distortion. Are you suggesting I should always practice clean?
awesome video. i would also like to see you demo a kirk hammett purple sparkle fixed neck ltd they just came out with on the market...your ibanez sounds better...
When Rick Graham was born.. Ibanez knew he would be a great guitar player.. so they launched the RG series in his honor!
Are you sure?
While I appreciate your knowledge... Slametal was just making a joke. RG? Rick Graham? Just a funny coincidence ;)
Jasper Law yeesh some people are thick huh? Lol

Those older japanese Ibanez guitars are probably some of the best guitars in general ever built! Especially the RG550!

Hey Rick how do you get that tone? can you share your settings? :P
I wish Rick had a signature with Ibanez😭
The neck pickup sound has a little more body to it, it sounds more fuller and fatter, but I think the bridge pickup sounds a bit better
I want a guitar with a hs setup so bad.

Hi Rick, is there any way to get your Axe FX-II presets? Thank you.
What's the difference between the RG565 and RG550? Thanks!

Thanks! But I have an RG550 and has a maple fretboard too
oh sorry, my memory isn't that photographic :P I'm sure they made a 550 at some point with a rosewood fretboard, also!
@@iamrichlol is recommendable change the pickups? Dimarzio?
@@Sebastian-zt2id if my memory serves me correctly, they come standard with dimarzios. It's entirely up for which sort of tone you're chasing.
