What’s insane to me is that this concert is 3 weeks after the album released. Everyone knew all the words already. That’s powerful stuff. I went the week after in stockholm and it was the same thing☺️
Great reaction. The teeth reference, I believe is like many years back when they used to remove the teeth of lions and tiger so they were less of a danger in circus acts.
Someone may have mentioned it but going to her concerts all include a light up bracelet that production can control and have it change colors or light up to the beat, etc so it’s not necessarily all camera flashes/camera flashlights in the crowds. She started it when she started full stadium tours so that she can see the lights of the individual people up in the nosebleeds and she doesn’t feel like she’s just singing into darkness beyond the first few rows. They’re actually pretty neat.
There are so many references to animals in circuses, I think she does a great job making it look she's a chained circus animal, she lunges, but is always holding the post, like she's chained to it. It's a great performance.
The whole TTPD set is amazing (as is that whole album), but this song and performance is top tier. The way the platform rises up and moves around the stage to create the illusion of Taylor “levitating down your street” is amazing, but also note that the mirrored surface of the platform not only helps create the illusion of her levitating, it reflects the audience back to themselves. It’s a cool effect, but also on theme since this play is kinda about us - from fans to trolls to obviously the music industry and media. She’s just noting the way she’s been portrayed over the years, including that there must be a “trick” to - or narcotics in - her songwriting that explains why stadiums full of people are scream singing along with her songs everywhere she goes…when really she’s just a really good songwriter who captures the human experience in a really poetic - and catchy - way. There’s also a theory from a great content creator on Swifttok that the dress she’s wearing in the TTPD set is like a dress in progress being worn by a mannequin - and the way she leans on the post on the platform does mimic a mannequin. It’s also practical and necessary, but at this point I really think that creator’s into something. It seems like a statement about artists being posed and used by the industry. But when they start calling too many of their own shots and questioning things(like why their contracts usually make it nearly impossible for them to ever own their own masters) then the industry that helped build them considers them a problem.
i still cant believe she dropped an album while touring, then proceeds to add a set to the tour and the fans know all the words. that really doesnt happen!
This is one of my favorites. Really hope she updates the Era's Tour movie with the new TTPD set soon. Would love to see your reaction to her live performance of My Tears Ricochet also from the Era's Tour. She wrote this song about the loss of her master recordings and the betrayal she felt when her mentor sold them to Scooter Braun, who she hates (her tired to bring her down during the Kanye KimK drama...he was Kanye manager at the time). The performance is just as powerful as the song. th-cam.com/video/3-Qiuv4eeMI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MhdY52JoxPGfvpyj
It’s about a lot of things, mostly about how the music industry and media treats artists. But, yes, it could also reference rightwing talking heads like Candace Owens and Ben Shapiro vilifying her because they are afraid every time she simply posts about the importance of getting registered and voting and the young women who tend to be big fans of her music get registered by the tens of thousands. Fox News even did a segment months ago suggesting she’s a Biden psy-op. They did that knowing some unhinged conspiracy theorists could easily latch onto that nonsense, with dangerous consequences. So, yes, it could be partly political. What’s your point?

Every one knows the words, thanks for insight
What’s is impressive is her ability to sing in almost a full back bend. I love you commentary on her dancers. Not many do. It’s awesome!

Thanks for the info
Talk about getting your money’s worth with a concert! The whole thing is such a production -I’m sure the three hours fly by! She’s amazing!

Thanks for giving some details and insight appreciate it

That never happens unless you are Taylor Swift
Saw her last year from row 9, and I get to see her again in November! Can’t wait to see TTPD!!!
row 9 is close enough for me where is she at in November
Great reaction to this awesome live Taylor performance. Thank you.

NOOOO fun, feels political.....
No, just the people who tried to take her down or used her work as their own, don't step on her lawn, meaning private property.
This is about how the music industry treated her.
Nothing political about it. It's about how the musical industry, which she grew up in, treated her.
There is absolutely NOTHING political about this.
