    Excellent video. What I like about your videos is that they are always to the point. I can follow them along with my Traktor Pro and it works :-) even better content in parts than in DJ tutorials I paid for. (Say Hi to Phil ;)

    just bought one of these upgrading from s2. you can get them for 300 on ebay new at the mo, which is a bargain. i was going to get an s4 but i hardly ever use the jog wheels and i have 2 xtouch minis i have mapped for the 4 FX racks anyway. works really well. got an f1 today too so i can do a bit of playing so been watching all your f1 vids too.

    i have 2 x-touch minis which you can midi map for the 4 FX racks. very handy as s3 desnt have the fx and much cheaper to get than two X1s i think i got 2 for £60! plus you get a slider you can use for channel 3 and 4 if you are using s2 like i used to

      Hi Bilal,
      Not silly at all. They are the Mackie SRM 450 V3 speakers. Really nice and 1000 watts each.

    Hi Dave. In many places I DJ with the Traktor kontrol s3 and the sound technicians always complain my output signal is too low. This implies less sound quality. I understand with usb power there’s no way to have a good pre-amplifyer system. There’s any device i can use to amplify my signal before is Goes to the mix console of the main system?

    • @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert
      @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Luciok,
      Do you have everything optimum? Correct limiter, master on the software set correctly and your master knob on the s3 set? I only ask because I’ve never had an issue with the output volume to the sound engineer. But if you have a look at something like the cloudlifter essentially for voice but you can follow that route.

    Hi Dave, great video and very useful content. What I'm finding is that if I have the gains on the channels set so the output level is around 0db, when I record the output level is very low and it is also very low in my headphones. What can I do to sort this out? Thanks

    • @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert
      @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. First of all the headphone volume is only affected by the output when you have it on mix. On gain then you can control the levels in your ears all you want.
      Secondly there are two output levels when using a mixer. One is the software master and the other is the mixer master. Making sure the software doesn’t redline is vital but you should be able to compensate for that with the mixer master. Let me know how you get on.

    Hi Dave! Firstly, thanks for the vid and all the tips, i've watched lot of your videos and those has been super helpful when learning TP3. I'm thinking to buy Traktor Kontrol S3 but i'm hesitating a little. Previously i had an Traktor Kontrol S2 MK3 but decided to sell it because of a very very poor output volume and switched to Rekordbox. What is your experience of S3 output volume? Is it loud enough to play at the small gigs and small nightclubs? Best regards from Finland.

    • @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert
      @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Tomi and hello Finland (would love to go).
      Thanks for the kind words and glad my videos have been useful.
      The output on the S3 is so much better than the S2 mk3. I have had no issues with it myself and have used it for small gigs and parties and the output has been good.
      There is louder out there for sure but if you balance the volumes of the software, controller and speakers then you should be fine.
      Shout if you need any more advice :-)

    What's your opinion djay iPad vs Traktor pc ? Which sounding is better ?

    • @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert
      @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Pavel
      If we purely look at software with no controller/interface then It all depends on the sound card in the iPad and PC. If you went for too spec on both then of course it would be the PC.

    Solid video production👍
    Dave I’m still in 2 minds if I want to get the Traktor S3 or S4 MK3 lol
    Why does the S3 look brighter in LEDs blue meters then S4 MK3 ??

    • @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert
      @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL thanks mate.
      If i had the money I would get the S4 MK3 BUT only coz i need the functions. FYI make your mind up soon as the S3 goes up to full price in a week.

    ive turned off limiter entirely and set everything to zero but it still comes out muffled. turned up quality to 96000, still the same. the reason i know is that when i am mixing loud it sounds 'muffled' as if it's being extremely limited. i don't know whats wrong... when i play through any other audio app, windows media player, winamp, aimp, anything else, the lows are fuller and the highs are brighter. any idea why? i am completely at a loss and it sucks. :/ when its really loud the bass and the mids are erased and consumed by the kick and the highs are muffled. this is set at zero without any extra eqing, yet as i mentioned other audio apps play the exact same mp3 files better and sound bright and loud and fine. what is going on

    ts easier to use de auto gain bro, and then not being worried about the gain

    • @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert
      @DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Completely not true. Auto gain is system analysed and is not accurate. When djing your ears are the only things you should trust. NEVER rely on the computer 100%

    • @tonyaddario8816
      @tonyaddario8816 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DAVEDigitalandVinylExpert This is 100% true. The auto gain is not even remotely accurate. I actually found this video looking for other ways to have consistent levels of audio and wondered if I missed something in Traktor.
      There is no standard for mastered digital audio, unless you are uploading it to streaming sites. This means that any track you get will substantially vary in overall loudness. Well explained and demonstrated in the video about headroom and proper gain staging, but for me, it's still not accurate enough. I've resorted to taking all my tracks for djing and applying the streaming standard of-14 LUFS to them so they will all be consistent. Is that an extreme and laborious decision, perhaps, but being off work because of the pandemic, I have the time.
      Perhaps something Traktor can include in other updates is a loudness level analysis feature, that more accurately adjusts LUFS for more consistent audio levels.
