Love the scientific approach. OL definitely helps. Also, EN owner was 100% right about the extra power from OL making it harder to hook off the line. It’s the same thing with using NGS before launching. Some people wait till the top of 1st gear instead to activate NGS. That way, the car hooks before getting the additional power. As you said, it does well through second gear so adding the NGS at that point doesn’t hurt the traction.
i hit 5.1 dragy 0-60 rather consistently on my Kona N, sometimes faster, however i am in texas on the coast right at sea level, so im sure that makes a difference.
My 24 yr old daughter has this exact year/color/spec EN. She’s always griping about octane learning, and I’ve been dismissive about it because I didn’t realize it was such a thing with these cars. The more ya know. 🤷🏻♂️
@@JVette01 I doubt a stock manual VN can do a 5 second flat. I have a stock VN DCT and it consistently gets around a 5.0-5.1 with the occasional 4.9 at sea level. You’re probably closer to sea level and you’re using 93. I’d assume a car with a whole feature dedicated to “learning octane” would probably be pretty sensitive to octane.
But if you run 91 consistently it doesn’t have to be learned again, correct? To save a a few bucks each refuel only use 91 if you like to drive spirited!?! But agreed, that does look annoying. Hyundai has come along ways this past decade in performance from the Genesis coupe to the N but octane learning is a bit much!
@@Koondaddy33I know it’s an old comment I am replying to, but nope. That is what makes it so annoying. You have to do this song and dance with every fillup.
@@GTIclubdport9462Incorrect. EN is also underrated. When octane learned, the DCT EN makes 280 whp. There are several videos of dyno results here on TH-cam confirming it.

Not a big deal for me. Its not a drag racing car anyway and its still sufficiently fast enough. You bought the wrong car clearly if you care about power that much its all about handling and feel.
@@CleverCheetah I did buy the wrong car. I don't like having to follow procedures to unlock the full potential of my car. @@CarsUncovered Thats not the point tho. You shouldn’t care about that because you’re still getting the advertised power the cars supposed to make. wow, that octane learn made a difference for sure
But it’s so hard to obtain. This car should just automatically be able to tell what gas you are using and adjust performance instantly 😢

We’re mainly focused on the trap speed. The 0-60 is so dependent on traction.

Something seems a little off with those times maybe it’s the rpm he’s launching at or something my manual VN can do 0-60 in 5 flat on summer tires.

It depends on how high the rpm’s are on launch and how hot the tires are get those tires hot get the gas low and launch 2000-2200
