    Never had the wheels off mine yet but mot due in october so will do an inspection as you did to see if there's any obvious signs of problems. The ticking is bad be very interested to see what that is. I know mine has a bit of a rattle but that's just the chain dont think its ever been a changed and on 85k mow but I can live with that for now. I noticed the modified air filter on the first video. Obviously someone wanted to try and get a bit more power by adding it. All that oil leaking dont look good. With the history of over heating and lack of coolant it looks like head gasket is damaged. Had an interesting incident with my car yesterday. Lost all power to my instruments so had no speedo, revs or fuel/temp gauges. Found its a common fault due to bad connection in the dash..

      I usually print off a mot check list off the internet before an MOT when I do my checks to make it easier, the ticking is very bad and you will see why it's so bad very soon! Chain noise is slightly different to what I have but I will be changing my chain too! With the colour of the coolant I have decided the head gasket needs doing so we start that process in the next video! Should be up Tuesday! Thanks for the comment bud

      +James'sWorld Nice one mate, where can I print the checklist from seems a good thing to do. Looking forward to seeing the head gasket being done, think mine may have a small leak :-(.

      +Steves Outdoors NE I use the direct gov one, if you google search "MOT checklist" it's the first one :) should help you out with what to check!

    I've been given the job of putting a 2004 Corsa back on the road. It was parked up in a lock-up for 18 months. I've been able to get it running and the first thing it needed was a new battery. It is mechanically the same as yours (it has the same Z12XE engine) and I've run it round the block and it drives fine. It will need new tyres and a service and it should pass the MoT without too much trouble. I've watched these vids before so I'm going to watch them again to get some pointers.

    do 2 flushes with fresh oil then drain and put new oil and a filter on to help clear oilways to help with the tapping. may not work but worth a try as it does sometimes. leave the car running on idle for 20 mins inbetween flushes

      When you see what is causing the tapping you will agree that any amount of oil flushes won't fix it :P stay tuned!

    I have the same problem with my SXI, oil leaking out the rocker cover and underneath. How did you fix the leaks in the end?

    Hello there, just bought a corsa c 2003 and the engine bay needs a clean. Was wondering if you had done this before and if so do you have any pointers for me. Cheers.

      Absolutely, cover the alternator, battery and ecu with plastic bags to prevent soaking them, light spray down with a hose, use a paint brush of stiff bristle brush with some degreaser to agitate the areas then rinse down with water, dry and apply some back to black on the plastic parts to bring back a shine to them

      Do i need to disconnect anything?

    • @TheSavageGarage
      @TheSavageGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope no need to disconnect anything, the majority of the plugs and connectors in a engine bay are somewhat waterproof anyway, A little water isnt going to hurt them :)

      In addition, i have noticed that the front and rear brakes are rusty and very dirty. What is the best way to clean and restore them?

    You should try to sound more enthusiastic in your intro, I think it’ll improve your content massively.
