  • Forever Rose in Resin taught me so very much about silica crystals drying flowers, #CastingResin , how to use a #VacuumChamber, tried out a theory with my rose, and yes I had failure along the way. I cover a great deal of information and details on the entire process for a #ResinPyramid. Learn what worked for me and what didn't so you can avoid costly mistakes.

    I ABSOLUTELY Love this 🌹… I remember as a little girl growing up in the 60’s seeing the “rose in water globe” at my Grandmas place. But these would eventually dry out and leak after so many years. To see you create a Real 🌹 that is permanent touches my heart and is priceless 🌹💜🌹

    Oh, I'm so glad you showed this! I have a vacuum chamber and a pressure pot, but am still too scared to try them out. lol...I do have silica gel for flowers as well as the microwave pressers and also a big, special pressing board just for flowers and leaves. I'm hoping to brave up and just jump in soon. It helps to see you show the way!

    For the bubbles you could have taken a hand drill and drilled down to them then fill it with resin. It will cover it up like sanding just make sure to clean out the holes and don't leave any shavings in it.

    Can you put the rose in the vacuum machine? It looks beautiful ❤️. I have a pyramid mould with a mark and I put some tape there so I just make sure I don't fill above that spot. Saves on resin. 😁. Thank you for the video. ❤️🙏🏻❤️

    • @MoonkusserArt
      @MoonkusserArt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know about the rose in the vacuum chamber Karen. They are so fragile when dry I didn't want to risk it and when pulling the vacuum it bubbles like soda which would create a bigger issue I think. Great idea to mark the damage line on the mold 👍🏻 Thanks for watching!

    That torch will ruin your mold, no matter how careful you are. It will melt to your resin and tear when you pull them apart.

    Hi, next time instead of using a razor blade just get your heat torch and torch the area carefully, It softens the resin and you can move the mould away from the resin item.

    Why do you use the alcohol? It turned out amazing. I tried it with just putting resin over a rose. Bad idea. The resin got hot and the rose welted to a big hump of yuck. First time ever trying to use resin.

    • @MoonkusserArt
      @MoonkusserArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The alcohol is to help in bubbles in the resin to pop on the sides of the mold.

    Can you just use the roses without drying them first?

    • @MoonkusserArt
      @MoonkusserArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. The moisture causes rot to the flower in the resin.

    Why not put the rose in the vacuum chamber after pouring while its in the cup

    • @MoonkusserArt
      @MoonkusserArt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The rose would not hold up well I don't think. When the resin is processing it foams up a lot which could mean more bubbles trapped around the petals.

      I discovered this today - the hard way. I had built a box in plexiglass that was a about 500 ml. I had put a couple of figurines I had cast earlier in resin on the bottom of the box and filled the box with clear resin until it was full. The temperature raised quickly and kept rising. Last time I checked it, it was well above 100 Celsius degrees. The glue on the plexiglass mold started to melt, the figurines were melting too and the resin turned brownish in the center. I had worked on this project for a week and it was ruined within an hour. Another lesson learned.🔥
