    Now I see why we have to get some real world experience. It is VERY technical. I didn’t realize that. I mean we don’t just starting out

      Hey Simone! My portfolio looks quite technical because that's one of my strongest skills. I think the most important thing to have in mind is that it's not a catalogue: you need to show how you work (aka your creative process), from 1st idea to finished product/ collection, and that's the hard work people don't see

      Hi Gabi,
      first of all, I recommend you check CSM's website and the work produced by MA alumni.
      You can also read about my experience as a mature student at CSM on my blog:
      www.fashiontechsupport.com/blog/preview-mature-student-guide-csm-fashion

      Bear in mind that I chose not to apply for the MA after the Graduate Diploma, so I can't tell you from first-hand experience what Fabio wants to see on your application portfolio.

    Hi about to apply for the Grad Diploma and wondering does it have to be a video ? Or do they accept pdf digital form of portfolio. Also I lost alot of my sktech books and I know your suppose to submit work from atleast 4 projects do you know if its ok to use over half the guided 30 pages submission on your final graduate collection research?
    Thanks!

      This video was done in 2019, I finished Grad Dip in 2016. Please pay more attention to what I've said *if* you're curious about my experience, and always refer to the guidelines on the CSM website.

    Hi! The first part of the course was with live lessons online? Or they recorded the sessions and you managed your own time?

    • @OliviaSuguri
      @OliviaSuguri  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi María! Back then all 3 terms were in person, first at a studio close to the main King's Cross campus; then in Holborn.
      I hear now term 1 is fully online and the rest of the course is in Archway, so the structure of the course might've changed a bit. But I doubt it'd be pre-recorded sessions, and also I'd avoid missing the live lessons - in my opinion, that could send the wrong impression (Patrick hated the students who never showed up in the studio)

      I can't give any advice about Antwerp, I never studied there nor do I have any friends who did.
      What do you need help with specifically?

    hi, i just wonder where did u get all of that fabrics/materials from?

    • @OliviaSuguri
      @OliviaSuguri  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question, Huong! This list will be more helpful for anyone in London, but in any case none of the materials I used were specially rare or fancy:
      - Woolcrest Textiles: huge selection and the cheapest prices. I got most of my fabrics there (just like most Fashion students and even most up-and-coming independent designers);
      - Shepherd's Bush market: wadding and trimmings. Potato sack fabric was also from there, or from one of the fabric shops in that area;
      - Cass Art: Speedball screenprinting inks to paint over the trimmings + sugar paper and murano paper for the actual portfolio;
      - foam blocks were a random find at a community centre in Homerton supplying art materials to local schools. I think they only supply them to partner schools, but I made a huge donation and the guy opened me an exception.
      Hope that was helpful. Again, none of the materials were particularly rare or fancy (maybe the gray murano paper).
      The most important thing is: get yourself moving and try new materials, new combinations, new techniques... just get craftsy! Not all of it will be gold, but there's no other way 😅
