Nick you weren't lying, this was insanely good stuff, ive shared it everywhere because I think its pretty nutted for YT content. You asked so many really good questions that I was thinking myself too which I really liked. TBH I thought you were gonna sit back and just listen which still woulda been good but by questioning ben we get such good information into his processes and how they differ to ours. Seriously man this was sick ;)

The KTo hand 15:00 OTT. I dont think you mentioned it but you mightve so forgive me if so. Does his turn bet not also mean he dosent really have that many flushes by the river. I would imagine his pure FD (so excluding things like 67dd,78dd, A3dd,A2dd) would check turn? I might be way off here but he is kinda repping 5x hard OTT. And then by the river his sizing makes no sense like you say after the turn bet. Just curious if the turn bet made you alot less worried about flushes also? He obvs can still have some but not at 100% Id imagine?
But I really appreciate you doing this, I dont think Ive heard someone convey their thoughts so clearly before in a hand review. Thanks alot

Man thanks so much, I'm really glad you liked it! I did want to strike a balance but mostly probe Ben with questions and let him roll! He really is excellent at conveying his thought processes and I'm really lucky to have had him on the channel and to be doing a few more with him too!

Yeah i think your assumptions are generally pretty accurate, but other than the mentioned excluded FD's, there aren't a whole lot more, therefore, river flush range is drastically reduced. It's obviously a lot easier to come to those conclusions post hand, whereas in game i was relying on river sizing more than anything. I wish i could say that i had the whole hand already figured out ott!

Really great content.
I would encourage you to not focus too much on the meta of your main stake. If you do, will end up playing the same way and getting wrecked by more aggressive players.
Playing like benabadbeat at micros will definitely perform much better than metaslave, max exploit "everyone here always does xyz".
Just think how well these bluffs Ben's opponents make would work at your stakes...you'd win such a high percentage of hands
Thanks Andrew! I am mostly trying to play a theory based approach as it can be kind of hard to exploit when I stream all my hands and a decent amount of the players are at least aware of me!

In my charts this is true yeah. Disclaimer: there are infinite preflop solves that will yield similar EV's, so my 15% vs your x% won't change/impact gto solutions all that much!

I like the flop call with AK in the first hand. Actually AK does better than 99 or TT, showdown value is effectively the same, while AK has better removal and more equity against value hands.
Hands 2 and 4 are some pretty maniacal calls tho. He has no blocker to diamonds in hand 2 for the river call, and having a ten in hand 4 blocks their bluffs.
Yeah I think the AK call is very reasonable, but as said, maybe a shove is also pretty good. Hand 2 is an exploit call as discussed, and hand 4 Ben states that he is very unhappy with the call and thinks it's an easy fold.
its so sick which kind of transition you have to make from Micro to Mid/High Stakes...its almost a different game

@@eastyyy22 yeah right. You will need to have way more Buy ins compared to micros where you dont have to call of so often on rivers. I honestly think you really should play the highest stakes possible for your Bankroll right from the beginning, cause the knowledge you gain in the micros cant really help you or even hurts your ev in mid stakes..
@@BigDaddyGee85 Yeah we should aggressively move up if we can afford to and are happy with our play! A lot due to rake structures at lower stakes. We should always be seeking to have a solid strategy rather than just pure exploit everywhere though, which will still help us later.
@@eastyyy22 thats true. But i would really like to know how much effective money we would make with our micro-exploids..cause we would fold a lot more in some spots on flop, where those highstakes players go broke on river.

Ben (and Easty) thanks SO much for your time. Ben, on the last hand you mention you are very unhappy about not having diamond(s) (I think Nick thought you’d be happy not to have diamonds!) because you think he would be bluffing that suit least on river. Could you please explain that a little more? I would have thought you wanted to not have diamonds so he has more bluffs here 😔

You're right that there could be some argument to wanting to not have diamonds because it increases villains bluffs, however, in their shoes, they really want us to have more diamond diamond combos that fold the river. To put it simply, when bluffing the river, you want to unblock your opponents folding range (in this case diamonds). When IP chooses to bluff hands like ATdd for example, it means that OOP is far more likely to have value hands. It all really boils down to the EV of bluffing combos - diamond combos will yield low or negative ev for villain to bluff, and therefore it is better for us to have at least one when calling a river all in

If I could just put the following ... “when IP chooses to bluff hands like ATdd, it means that OOP is far more likely to have value hands” then why does the reverse not hold true? In the hand with 9Ts on SB, Ben said that he is using only one size on the river which is shoving with AQ, X7 (because we check Qx). My question, what is our bluffing range on the river? I guess some suited K like Kh6h or something like that that does not block diamonds or X8 and blocks KT?

Yeah I'm pretty excited to be able to offer this one! I've known Ben a while but only recently back in contact. A very nice guy and obviously super generous with his time. Glad you liked it!
We establish that villain probably has two sizings and doesn't size like this with AA and KK, and then we argue that AK makes a good bluffshove because we block AA and KK ;)
We see a very weak hand and conclude that he's betting range, when if he's polarized he should bet his very strong and his very weak hands ;)
We think it's better to bet flop with a backdoor flush draw than with JhTh, when actually the bettor wants IP to have a backdoor flushdraw to call with, so JhTh unblocking the weak calls of IP's range is a great hand to bet flop and then multibarrel ;)
As far as i can tell, I didn't discount AA/KK for the small sizing once, (EDIT: in fact just having watched it back i literally say that he will use small sizes with aces and kings). On the contrary, AA/KK will find its way into both a block size and an all in size (I know that as villain i will roll my RNG twice, once for bet/check, and once for small/large). Further this villain is one that will also mix sizes within hand class. With that in mind the question definitely does need to be asked whether we wanna shove AK for blocker effect (which i acknowledge by saying I wanna mix all three options of call/raise/fold with AKhh).
As to your second point, we are making assumptions based on villains decision to bet a holding that is in a pure checking hand class, therefore, because ranges are so tight BB v UTG, it would be a relatively fair conclusion that if villain is betting one of the worse hands in his overall range, he's betting too much (whether that is range or not is clearly the thing that we are speculating.
To your last point. We are mainly concerned with generating the highest EV. And simply put, betting JThh yields a significantly lower EV than checking. Your analysis that JThh is pretty conclusive, but im curious, have you actually run the sim? Because if you had, you'd see that your analysis is very very far off the mark. in this exact scenario EQ >>>>>>>>>> unblocking ip folding range, it's not even close.
