Morissette is truly an exceptional artist. She could just sing any genre of music without difficulty and yes when it comes to emotional song, be prepared to be taken into roller coaster of emotions. Geez Morissette you never failed to bring out the emotions and soul of any song you sing.
This is one of my most favorites, if not my most favorite Morissette performance/cover. I am can really relate to the lyrics and Mori's performance deeply affected me.
I had my first serious and best relationship with a person I am so in love with. But our relationship were not working anymore. And with all that's happening in my life and family, I needed so much attention and love, but he was nowhere to be found. Being busy as always since the very start, he asked for more understanding and patience from me. But I needed him in those moments of my life, yet he could not be there. I felt so lost and too confused during those times. I needed him to light my way. I needed him to give me reasons to remember to hold on. But he never made it.
"I'm not the one you're needing" says the song, and that's exactly what happened to us.
I can't dwell in a relationship filled with so much shortcomings anymore because I have to help my family, too. And so I had to let him go.
It was hard. Especially that he thought it was CHEATING that made me let him go.
I needed attention, care, and him. He needed more understanding and more patience for his shortcomings. But due to my personal problems, I have reached my ultimatum. I felt like I have given so much time, effort, and patience to hold on to our relationship, where in fact, I should be focusing on myself and my family first, just like how he has always did-his family over me.
SUDDENLY, WE ARE NOT FOR EACH OTHER ANYMORE.

The emotion of this song!!!! Mori just captures the emotional content of each song she sings. I thought she was going to burst out crying at the end. It’s almost as if she really left the guy she singing about.

This song got to me combined with the passion she sings it with. As I get older(turning 40 in August) and still very, very much alone, I've had to say good bye to people in my life that I loved because they weren't good for my mental and emotional health. I've been a fan for years now, but I gotta say that this is also one of my most favorite performance of Morissette. It was very powerful emotionally, and there are moments that aren't vocally powerful but pierces directly through your heart because it's very pure and vulnerable. Ugh.
