Imagine leaving London as a fifteen year old kid and travelling to Japan on your own to study Judo for two years. That's what I call an adventure of a lifetime.
The man is an icon. Total respect and no airs or graces, just a solid, genuine East End bloke. I've met him once, very approachable and has time for everyone. True Gent. Brian was the only reason kids like me tuned into SuperStars, it was essential viewing, we wanted to see who he would beat every week!
What a great competitor and a really, really nice man. My Sensei at Orpington in the late 80's - one day I took my young nephew along to the club and Brian was so kind practising with him and signed his Gi (which I had embroidered). Pattaya sounds like a place to visit once this lockdown stuff is done....
I was born the same year as Brian Jacks and started Judo in my thirties I got to 1st Dan, I never got to Brian's standards, but I would have loved to have been on the mat with Brian as long as he took it easy on me, what a legend, my all time hero
Having watched your videos for the last 6 months or so, I decided to look at some of your previous stuff. I had to watch this one, I saw the ones with Brian an 2 other guys earlier in the year. What a legend! You have lost some weight since this video too, kudos.
Great interview, can't wait to see part 2. Brian Jacks really was/ is a superstar and a man i would love to meet, comes across as a "PROPER" bloke as well which is no surprise
great guy meet him many times at his gaf and has a great complex on the darkside and had great roasts at peter pie dont know if still there afternoon from singapore
Fantastic interview I met Brian once he was having pie and mash in soi Diana a top bloke and he still looks as fit as a fiddle, looking forward to seeing part 2😎👌💪💪
Trev - For me this is the best coffee chat you have done to date by a country mile.. great interview...watched it twice..I remember Brian winning the Olympic Judo Bronze in Munich and then watching him on Superstars and smashing the dips and squats out for fun, not just once but year after year. At that time I could manage 4 dips until I joined the Army and then managed 5 ! 🤣🤣 Must say he still looks good. Guessing he's about 75 now ? Looking forward to part 2 Thanks Trev 😀
My grandad and Brian’s dad trained in Judo together. Then Brian and my dad trained together at The Budokwai. I then trained at Brian’s judo school alongside his son Philip. And now, my 7-year old son is studying Kung Fu, so one day he can wear his great-grandfathers black belt.
WOW I Met Brian Jack's at Pakefield Potins Holiday Camp with I was 10 years old. Brian was doing a full Judo Democration. Pontins Pakefield in Great Yarmouth closes down in November 2024 now. GOD BLESS 🙌 BRIAN JACKS 🙏 his a very nice Man 😁😘😘😱😱💫💫💫💫💫☝️🫶🤝🙏Kind Deepest Regards Martyn Charles Johnson in Rochford Southend in Essex UK now 😀 ❤️ 🇬🇧😁🤩🤩🤗🤗🤝🙏 Martyn 😉
Great falla! He brought Judo to my old school (Wildernesse) in the 70's spent two year's teaching us! My old mate Paul Turner and I would walk his German Shepard Tito!
My daughter does judo BJJ MMA and wrestling she is only 13 and fighting for 3 years and only last week won her first BJJ competition she was chuffed to see this interview as she has watched and studied his fights for years What a champion this man is :) She asked if you ever talk to him again to thank him because she learnt alot from watching him :) I hope next time the kids come to Pattaya she gets to meet one of her hero's Wow that was a suprise video and thanks from the hole family :)
Years ago he came to our golf club as a guests, he strutted around like he owned the place. His attitude was...look who I am. Talk about being so far up his own backside. He was a arrogant bombastic individual who loved himself that’s for sure.
All I can say is he was a pleasure to be with in this interview, maybe he was just having a bad day..... shame as he appeared to be a lovely guy from the little time I spent with him.
Hi Dave , where is Brian Jack's hotel ? I have a good friend here in Maidstone who knows him very well , and always asks me if I could find out , as they were very good friends . His name is Mark Wilding , I have his number if Brian would like to make contact again . Regards Tony . Keep up the good work , and thank you for keeping us all up to date .
Checked from wikipedia (Judo/Europe/Finland) if I remember correct - seems that I still do. When I was junior I advanced to yellow belt with two dan - those are red stripes but called dan at here as wikipedia says. I quitted for a reasons but one of the last match which I made, I can remember it still like yesterday - I sweeped the legs and took the hold. Probably 10 seconds + the wait time before it was called over. That was 35 years ago... (edited): probably the belt was white + two dan. There was discussion how to color the belt to yellow. Need to check it out next time when visiting my parents.... and nobody cares :-)
Seems a decent fella, cant really say I've ever heard of him before- not before kev (RIP) did a good vlog on him a couple of years ago. Remember superstars very vaguely not my sort of thing really- no if he had been a footballer or darts player, thats a different matter 🇬🇧🙏🇬🇧🙏
@@Buzzinpattaya Recently subscribed, really enjoying your vlogs - don't know why I didn't do before, as I love Patts and have visited many many times over the past 15 yrs, along with many other places I thailand 🙏🇬🇧🥴🙏
I think Kev talked to him. I am 77. I have a boxing gym and weight gym. Still getting stronger. Played rugby a long time ago. Sometimes worry about my age. But in better aerobic shape than many who are much younger.
Where is Brians permed hair? The guy is still looking fit ..didnt know he is 74..olympic legend..mind you i was a kid watching superstars.. I dont mean in the gogos..Lol

i loved brian jacks but i am a brown man...and the way he said he used to be very patriotic...gave a chill down my spine... and the presenter saying ..yeah i know what you mean ...to me ...this is basically saying they dont like people like me ..blacks and browns... ie they are racists.... ah well ...good riddance brian jacks...my one time hero....now a zero
I am anything BUT a racist, I have some amazing mates from all around the world, colour irrelevant..... sadly back in the day the world was not so forgiving but doesn't mean people cannot change
I think you are jumping to conclusions. There is nothing wrong with being patriotic and loving your country and has nothing to do with disliking other people. You have a chip on your shoulder old son…
