Murder she wrote was the first "grown-up" show I ever got invested in. Seeing this smart, powerful, older woman exhibit so much agency and wit left a huge impact on me. Also, love of this show was about the only thing my late grandmother and I ever had in common. Angela is missed, dearly
Murder she wrote was one of the first also grown-up shows I saw when I was a kid gave me good memories because I would watch it with my parents before my falling out with them
when i saw the headline, i stopped everything and called my mother, we reminisced our favourite Murder She Wrote episodes for about half an hour. It was a formative show in my life and certainly a bonding time with my mom. Good memories.
Every single thing I learn about Angela Lansbury makes me adore the woman even more. Few people can claim a legacy like hers. Her mother named her well, because she truely was an angel.
It's interesting that you say that. It has taken me a lifetime of not just knowing her work and being alive during the later part of her career...watching her in "The Manchurian Candidate" and then to "Beauty and the Beast" and then taking THAT moment when you know you've poured your all into something and seeing that Angela did that in EVERY aspect of her work. She is truly a legend. She will forever be missed and I am so thankful there are so many memories to be had via media these days.
she lived only a couple of miles from me in ballycotton, and she used to occasionally come into the shop i worked in in the city back in the 90`s, and i can tell you this she was one of the most down to earth, considerate and kind people that ever came into us! she was lovely
As a kid, I loved Bedknobs and Broomsticks. As a teen, watched every episode of Murder, She Wrote. Even in college, I sung along with every lyric in Beauty and the Beast. Its difficult to explain to my younger friends just how much joy she brought to the screen with her character, charm and presence. She will be missed.
Around the time the Christopher Reeve version of Superman was released, there was a re-release of "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" and Disney paraphrased the tagline "You'll Believe a Man Can Fly." FYI, two years after "The Manchurian Candidate," she was Valerie Boyd's mom in "The World of Henry Orient."
She dropped her career temporarily to get her children away from drugs & most importantly from the Manson family her career would've taken a bit of a hit had her son been there when Charley & his cult murdered Sharon Tate. This woman was a superhero.
As a baby boomer, my introduction to Dame Angela was when I was a kid watching her play Princess Gwendolyn in “The Court Jester” on TV, and then seeing “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” in the theater. So I’ve been a lifelong fan of this wonderful lady. RIP Angela. 😢
I'm a very late Gen-X. I grew up watching her in Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Beauty & the Beast, and Murder She Wrote. As a teen I borrowed The Court Jester from the library. When I watched it and saw her on screen I yelled "Oh My God!" which caused my mom to come running. I just pointed at the screen and said, "Mom! It's Mrs Potts!" My mom just laughed and walked away. She was a treasure.
You can hear he smiling so large when she sings 'It's a guest, it's a guest!" and i literally cannot stop smiling whenever i hear it. She was a 1 in a 10000 talent who worked hard to help everyone she could.
I watched the Gaslight film from 1944 like last year and was SHOCKED to see her as a teenage maid. That's when I (now 26) realized I only knew her as an at least elderly lady and also how long she must've been in the business already
Angela Lansbury in Murder, She Wrote was the first character I adored as a kid. It brought me so much gratitude over the years to learn that many of the actors and actresses, singers etc that I was drawn to have been good people beyond their entertainment value. Angela truly among the best of them.
It's so weird to think we live in a world without Lansbury. She was so embedded in pop culture for so long it seemed like she was always there and always would be there. Heck I remember my mother taking me to go see Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Then there was Murder She Wrote - a show that was so incredibly good it's still watchable. I'll miss her.
That woman was truly the aunt that you entrusted with everything and the shoulder you needed to lean on. I hope she is always remembered for her struggles and support she gave so many in her life time and beyond.
Angela Lansbury was ageless, it's hard to picture a world without her. I had no idea she started her career so young! This was yet another excellent video, and made me curious to find Angela's old movies and watch them.
@@angelaholmes8888Yes, definitely! After discovering she was in Gaslight many years ago, and finding out how very young she was in it, I got a whole new respect for the woman and the longevity of her career. ❤😊
I literally just clicked and am leaving a comment sight unseen. I loved her in The Court Jester. She was as old as my grandma in real life (and actually looked a lot like her) but she will always be that iconic beauty to me. Watching Murder She Wrote with my Grandma was a huge part of my childhood, and I'll always be grateful for the example she set for me as a young afab in the 90's. She's probably formative to my being gay, I'm fairly sure I had a crush on her as a kid. So knowing she's a gay icon now, as a fully formed adult queer, makes me all the more grateful for her. God bless Angela Lansbury.
My grandma was a big fan of Murder, She Wrote. Unfortunately it wasn't until a few years after she passed that I got into the show myself. I feel more connected with my grandma because of that show, and it wouldn't be without Angela Lansbury. ♥
She was also amazing as Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance! That's the incredible thing about Angela Lansbury; no matter how many roles you mention, you're still going to leave out someone's favorite.
I was devastated when I found out Angela passed away. This is so beautiful and respectful to Angela. You’re such a bright light in this terrible time matt thank you for everything you do!
Wow! I had no idea she was such a badass! She seems to be someone with her priorities straight, and that is very aspirational. But also, I can't imagine ANYONE else playing Mrs. Potts and there's no way it would have been such a success without her. RIP
She looked so much like my grandma and my grandmother was always tickled when I insisted we watch my “grandma movie” which was Bedknobs. Every day while my mother would go to work my grandmother would sit with me and we’d watch Murder She Wrote together that she had recorded for me. I honestly can’t remember a point in my life where I wasn’t watching Angela and her passing was like losing my grandma all over again. I still mourn this lady I have never met but always wanted to. I’m very happy to see you did a video on this amazing woman. Between losing Betty, Gilbert, Angela and just recently Leslie, the world just seems a lot darker than it used to. I’m going to really miss her and I think because of my personal imprint of her it will always hurt
I understand completely. It feels like these kinds of people don't exist anymore. The ones who have such bright light inside of them. I think they do still exist. It's just that now Hollywood is hiring actresses based on how they look and or their popularity online rather than true talent. They don't seek true talent like they used to. Back in the day actresses were hired because of their talent and if they didn't look the part then a makeup artist would be hired to make them look the part. Now it's more about appearances and visuals than anything else. No more talent no more stage presence.
I ran into Angela Lansbury one Saturday morning in a West LA Hardware store the morning after I had seen The Manchurian Candidate in a special re-release screening. I told her how impressed i was with her performance, the movie hadn't been seen anywhere in 10 years and she was very gracious. We wished each other well and continued shopping.
I remember being so utterly enchanted with Bedknobs and Broomsticks as a child and finding Angela Lansbury so magical and special as a kid. Honestly I still think that.
I knew she was great but didn't know she was this awesome of a person. To drop all of her dreams of acting and helping her kids with their addiction is just gold standard of mother behavior especially at that time.
I bawled the last few minutes of this video. She was amazing and always seemed to put her best effort into all of her projects. It is good to hear that someone who meant a lot to me growing was such a good and strong woman.
I mean, I could see a more comprehensive one being uploaded, but being a big ol queerdo AND a fan of Matt's style & content, it is probably the best one I'm going to encounter... About the only other realistic option I see for a better biography is from Pushing Up Roses, but that because Angela meant A LOT to Roses personally, and so if she makes a biography/ tribute, it's likely to just be a very personal piece. (She does a series on YT informally called "That Time on Murder She Wrote..." Well worth checking out!)
@@EmeraldLavigne I was thinking of Roses while watching this. Glad to see someone giving her a shout out. She's a big Angela Lansbury fan - I found out about Mrs. Santa Claus through her channel.
at one of my lowest points, murder she wrote was (& still is) a great comfort. it was only recently that i found out she voiced mrs. potts, & then took a little trip down her filmography. angela lansbury was a national treasure; one of the coolest ladies to ever exist ❤️
Matt I’m very glad you chose to do a show on Angela Lansbury. Thank you. Not only did she manage to outlast the Queen, passing away a short time after her Majesty, she also managed to be among us a little bit longer. She too was 96, but she died just a couple of days short of turning 97.
No I’m sorry to disappoint you @Hypatia Kovalevskaya Sklodoska, but after reading your thoughts on my post I felt I needed to respond to it. I don’t think it would be a great stretch of the imagination to suspect that it might generate some degree of offense, but you might be interested by what it was specifically about it that I found not very nice. First I want to point out that while granted, it was me who introduced the Queen into my post, I think most people reading it would have discerned that my reason for doing so was to draw a comparison between two women of similar ages, both of whom had recently died. That through their long careers in very different spheres, they touched the lives of countless people. And really that’s about it. In the circumstances the Queen was the yardstick I chose to measure Lansbury’s life, achievements and significance, because it made sense to me. But the post is really just about Angela Lansbury. The Queen was probably the best known person in the world when she died. And I know that like any topic, most people hold an opinion of her, like her, love her, hate her, etc. Everyone has a right to their view and my purpose in bringing her up has nothing to do with changing the views of anyone about who she was. That’s why your post took my breath away. I was gobsmacked by the sheer arrogance of your grossly patronising comment, ‘And now hopefully that’s enough of that comparing her to that colonialist wretched monarch.’ To which my question is did Matt Baume appoint you to moderate his comment threads? Did TH-cam? Maybe God? Just who are you to decide what’s suitable to appear in this thread or any other TH-cam thread? What views. Or how much or how many times a particular person is suitable to be brought up in it? I will venture to say, maybe I’m wrong, but based on what the video was about I don’t think many people responding to this video are that interested in turning the comments section into a forum on their views about the British monarchy, or European colonialism.
I delayed watching this because I didn't think I was ready to deal with her death yet. She's been a part of our childhoods for so many years, from Bedknobs and Broomsticks to Beauty and the Beast, it's hard to imagine a world without her. It's like when we lost Robin Williams. This was such a lovely tribute to her legacy, so thank you for that 💙. I'll be rewatching Murder She Wrote for the 5 gazillionth time.
that must have been amazing, Broadway is the one thing that would appeal to me about living in NYC, that I know of anyway, and the Guggenheim is on my bucket list as well, everything else I've read, seen, or heard about it seems too hurried, small, dirty, and/or mean for me to want to live there, unless I were obscenely rich, in which case I'd want many acres in a forest beside a lake or fast running river somewhere warm
That's what I thought too, until I spent a couple of weeks here and realized it was NOTHING like what I'd been led to believe. Now I've lived here for 25 years and love it with all my heart. @@24get24give
I always remember her as the Princess in _The Court Jester._ How she managed to keep a straight face while Danny Kaye was pulling his insane shenanigans, I'll never know. (Glynis Johns was in that one, too.)
Angela Lansbury always reminded me of my grandmother, and not just because we used to watch murder, she wrote together. We were lucky to have her for as long as we did ❤️💔
Angela Lansbury is timeless, and at the same time, it felt like she'd just always be around because she'd always been around. I'll definitely miss her.
From Beauty and the Beast, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Murder She Wrote, Sweeny Todd, the Court Jester, and Mary Poppins Return; she inspired me from a young age to not only love Broadway but to have passion for what I love to do as well as be patient and kind. I'll miss her witty comebacks, singing, and overall English charm. RIP Angela Lansbury, you will never be forgotten
I always knew she was an astounding woman and I loved every bit of cinema and theatre I ever saw of her, but I had no idea how remarcable her life actually was. Thank you for shining a bright light on the life of this wonderful woman. She will be dearly missed.
When I was a kid in the late 90s they were running "Murder She Wrote" reruns on TV here in Spain. And I got really into it. I guess in part because the show was really good (I remember watching it with my mom, trying to figure out the mystery before the end), but I also think it was in large part because of Angela Lansbury and how good she was in it. Thanks for this video because I knew nothing about how awesome her life was and my appreciation for her has gone through the roof now. What an icon she was.
MSW is ALL Angela. She made it what it was (remember that talk of a remake a few years ago?). That character is a role model - quietly confident, often travelling alone, having a meet new people. Never lowering herself when people insulted her books. Angela is excellent in The Manchurian Candidate. I was pretty much blown away by performance when i saw it a couple of years ago. RIP.
The greatest and most versatile actress of my lifetime. I spent so much money seeing her on stage every chance I could - every penny well spent. Even in the late 2010s she was still doing stage as she entered her 90s. The woman even toured Australia at 88 with her name above the title. Unbelievable. What’s more? Her talent and durability were completely intact until her last performance at age 94. She missed her husband Peter deeply, but fought her way out of her depression, set her mourning aside, and continued onward to yet more success. Because of that, my generation had a chance to see her do *sumptuous* work on the stage. We can all learn a lesson from that.
I grew up never missing an episode of murder she wrote and while pregnant I would revisit every episode. Bed knobs and broomsticks was a big deal, too. I watch it w my kids now. Thank you for everything, Angela. ❤
Oh my Ms. Landsbury was stunning. If she was considered average or ordinary, then god help me! She will always be remembered for her classy appeal and talent.
Matt, you're a masterful storyteller. I don't know how you do it, but you always manage to make me shed a few tears, and end with a smile. Thanks for what you're doing.
Marvellous video. Angela’s death hit me hard. My nan passed away earlier this year and both she and my late grandad were blitz evacuees so Bedknobs and Broomsticks has a very special place in my heart.
A gorgeous woman who still was given good, meaty roles, Angela Lansbury was an inspiration to ask for more. Even when the roles she played weren't written as well as men's roles were, she filled in the gaps so the women she played seemed fully fleshed out, real human beings. What a brilliant actor. We lost a great artist.
Bedknobs and broomsticks was one of my absolute favourite movies as a kid, and I think it's why I love witches so much now! Rip Mrs lansbury, an absolute icon.
My favorite role of hers was of the murder-happy Princess Gwendolyn in The Court Jester, which she played with Glynnis Johns! She was going to have her happy ending or SOMEONE was gonna be thrown from the highest turret of the tallest tower! "Get it? Got it. GOOD!"
Absolutely loved her! Still watch at least one "Murder, She Wrote" daily. Invariably, Ms. Landsbury's kindness and empathy shines through. Who didn't want to live in Cabot Cove?
Well put together. I saw her in Melbourne Australia in Driving Miss Daisy on stage. I think she was about 89 years old and didn’t miss a beat. A true legend
I remember watching "Murder She Wrote" when I was about ten years old. I already liked murder mysteries at that age, and the main character was just so damn likable that the series was a joy to watch. Angela is also my favourite mrs. Lovett and always will be! Rest in peace auntie Angela! You will be missed!
Definitely glad you mentioned Mrs. Santa Claus. Out of all the Angela Lansbury performances my mom and I shared a love for, that one is definitely one of the most underrated. The anniversary of my mom's death happened right before Angela Lansbury's death, so her death definitely hit me hard. I still remember mom having Murder, She Wrote for binge marathons growing up. She was such a huge part of my relationship with my mom (along with a few other actresses, but Lansbury was one of the biggest) and I definitely love your video on her. She was such an amazing woman
I've lived my life completely unaware of her existence (well I guess I did know of Beauty and the Beast but I didn't know it was her) and I never watched an episode of her shows, but I am gonna start now! Thanks for an amazing video in celebration of her for someone who didn't grow up in the West!
Matt, you out-did yourself! This was a thorough and thoughtful tribute to Angela Lansbury. I was touched toward the end with your compliments of the great Dame Angela.
I was almost afraid to watch. I don't need any additional justification to start sobbing, I assure you. I am grateful, however, for your lovely portrait of one of our finest, fiercest allies. Thank you.
You’ve made me love Angela Lansbury all over again! What a remarkable woman and a beloved gay icon deserving of that status!! One of my favorite stories about my maternal grandmother is when she told the hair stylist she wanted her hair to look exactly like Angela Lansbury’s on Murder She Wrote. She was SO proud of her hair after that!!
I was too young to watch murder she wrote in its running but my mom and her sisters loved it. It was one of the few things on tape that the whole family would enjoy! I didn't know much about her though and smiled for the majority of this. Thank you for telling us her story! 💙
I am repeatedly taken aback listening to all of the badass things Angela did throughout her life... I had no idea, I absolutely love this video and all of the work you put in here. Thank you
She’s so lovely, and I’m so glad you’re covering her. I really like how you cover positive and cool people in history, especially queer icons and allies. It’s so inspiring and reminds me we can make positive differences in the lives of others
Her role in The Manchurian Candidate was brilliant and chilling, one of the best ever. I still get the willies watching it to this day. And her role in the wonderfully menacing Gaslight enhanced the suspense, and and I got to see her on Broadway in Gypsy, one of the highlights of my life. So awesome to know that such a tremendous actress was also a tremendous person. ❤
I grew up watching Mrs arris goes to Paris and bed kind and broomsticks on a loop! I sobbed when she was on Mary Poppins Returns. She was fabulous. So lovable.
Thanks to you Matt, I understand now so much more of why gay icons are who they are. Their iconic roles and personalities but also loyalty to and activism for the community. More to love about them. Thanks for breaking it down so succinctly and entertainingly each time. Murder, She Wrote was a favorite of my grandmothers and we watched together. What a warm, no bullsh*t kind of woman Angela seemed. So talented and tenacious. She did damn good for a glad girl. 😉👌💗
I loved Angela so much that as a child I wore out multiple tapes of Bedknobs and Broomsticks and one point had the movie memorized. :) she was an amazing person and I hope her work still inspires future generations
I always loved her, and I have watched all the murder she wrote episodes more than once. What a charismatic and lovely person and actress she was. She made lots and lots of people smile. Rest in peace, Angela. Thanks for this nice video.
Angela Lansbury seems to have been such a classy person throughout her life. 😍😍😍 I don't know if it is flue jab, but I kept on tearing up throughout this video. Wonderful work, Mr Baume.
I did not expect to get teary over this. I never felt she was old enough to be "grandmotherly" for me, so I thought of her like that famous auntie-type person. She was important to me in my early years for that reason. I grew up watching Murder, She Wrote and loved it. I didn't realize she had just passed away. I didn't realize (due to being "protected" by my very conservative family) how much she fought for LGBT folk. Thank you for sharing her history.
She’s marvellous woman! I love her roles. When I was a kid I always couldn’t waited until the Murder she wrote series to start on TV. I thought that would be so cool to have that much fun when I’ll be hitting that age. ❤ she was wonderful and strong woman ❤ ❤❤❤ She’s always in my heart ❤️
Angela saw something in us, many of us still struggling to see in ourselves. As a trans woman, transitioned as a preteen in the 90s when It was a taboo to even talk about it in public, so beside my loving parents I had no one no siblings... yet I found myself surrounded by the small local gay community. I grew up loving myself knowing how beautiful, confident and kind I am from my gay brothers and sisters. I felt happy & secure despite the brutal world we were living in unlike now... Yes our community is suffering less now but there’s less compassion for each other. Rest In Peace my one and only Mrs. Potts, I’ll always love you. ;(
I fell in love with her when I first saw her in Murder She Wrote & Bedknobs & Broomsticks then I recently saw her in a picture from Samson & Delilah as a young woman I was like "Wow she was a hot dish." I didn't realize it was Angela. I need to go back & rewatch that movie. When I learned she was the voice of Mommy Fortuna in the Last Unicorn I had to rewatch a scene with her talking tot the unicorn & I was like "Oh there you are Angela." Wow, she really helped a lot of her fellow actors who were struggling for work in their later years they must've been so grateful to her for it.
Maybe I’m exhausted or just need a little emotional release, but by the time they were singing “Mame” at the end of the video, I was quietly sobbing on the couch. Such a wonderful video and an even more wonderful woman. Thank you so much. I really needed this tonight. My Amazon cart is now full of Angela Lansbury cast albums. Take care!
Fantastic tribute! I never knew anything about her. When you showed her performance in Gypsy...her passion and deliverance brought me to tears...thank you.
Many thanks for taking us on a walk down memory lane with the incomparable Angela Lansbury. She was and always will remain one of my favourite entertainers.
My grandmother and I used to watch Murder she wrote together every time I visited. It’s easily my favorite show to watch when I need something fun to distract me. I would love to be like Jessica Fletcher when I’m a grandmother myself. Writing books, solving murders, and looking great while doing it. Angela did a fantastic job bringing her character to life ❤️
My grandma and I used to watch murder she wrote weekly and still today I’ll always pop an episode on when I want some good memories. I wishJB Fletcher was my aunt! Love your content!
This tribute was lovely and so moving. Her life was incredible and her work for HIV/AIDS ...no words. She also hosted the GMHC Carnegie Hall benefit of Anyone Can Whistle where Madeline Kahn played Lansbury's original part and Bernadette Peters costarred. A few things...Boyer is pronounced "Boy-ay". I think it is worth mentioning that that Mame was originally offered to Merman, then Martin and they both turned the show down, as they had both done for Hello, Dolly. Merman would later go on to be a Dolly replacement. Lansbury also did return to Broadway in Dear World in 1969 and won another Tony. Murder She Wrote was also originally conceived as Jean Stapleton's return to TV but her husband became very ill, and subsequently died I think....and Lansbury was starring in a poorly financed revival of Mame which was to tour but did so badly on the road that it was rushed to NYC and closed very quickly, making Lansbury suddenly available. I am so grateful to have seen her on stage many times-Gypsy twice, Sweeney Todd four times, Deuce, A Little Night Music, Blithe Spirit, and a few others.
I shall forever miss Dame Lansbury! From when I first saw her, as Mrs.Potts to the final time I saw her in a cameo as herself in Glass Onion on Netflix. Alongside the playwright who wrote the Sweeney Todd . It’s been a beautiful legacy she’s left behind!
I just discovered your channel, watching the piece on "Rope." These videos are cheering me up while I am at home with the flu. Thank you so much for this portrait of Dame Angela Lansbury! I grew up with her, first seeing her as Princess Gwendolyn in "The Court Jester" in 1955. When I was about ten, I saw "Gaslight" on Million Dollar Movie and was taken with Angela's teenage performance as the cheeky Cockney maid. My next awareness was as the monstrous Mrs. Iselin in "The Manchurian Candidate," when I was fourteen, in 1962. At UCLA in the late 1960's, I saw her as the venomous newspaper publisher in "State of the Union" at the Pacific Film Archive. I didn't have a TV set during her "Murder She Wrote" years, but I plan to catch up on those. I saw her on stage in "Mame" in Los Angeles, but don't remember the year. Dame Angela was a unique treasure. They broke the mold.
I have grown to love Angela. Her career wasn't recognized for so long but seeing her in her varrious roles, you get to see her range. I continue to regularly watch reruns of Murder She Wrote. It's now like putting on a warm comfy sweater.
We do remember her the way she wished. During the hardest point of my life, I found solace in watching Murder She Wrote with my own mother. It quite possibly saved my life. She was a gem, and the world is a little less bright without her luminous shine.

You definitely should check out gaslight and the manchurian candidate
@@angelaholmes8888Yes, definitely! After discovering she was in Gaslight many years ago, and finding out how very young she was in it, I got a whole new respect for the woman and the longevity of her career. ❤😊
Me,too. Heading to Google to look up her movies.
I used to watch every episode with my grandmother. We would see who could guess the ending first.
That's who I associate Murder, She Write with, too, my grandmother. ❤😢❤😊
RIP
I had NO idea about her work to fight HIV/AIDS. My God, what an incredible person.
🔥🔥😱
Me too ❤❤
im crying now
She was lovely!
Yes, I also was brought to tears.
Seems unlikely to me anyone else is ever going to upload a better biography of Angela Lansbury than this. A+
Blithe Spirit is so good!
Pleasantly surprised to see you here.
right?
She too was 96, but she died just a couple of days short of turning 97.
and hopefully that’s enough of comparing her to that colonialist wretched monarch
I was gobsmacked by the sheer arrogance of your grossly patronising comment, ‘And now hopefully that’s enough of that comparing her to that colonialist wretched monarch.’
To which my question is did Matt Baume appoint you to moderate his comment threads? Did TH-cam?

Truly more of (and a better) queen than ermaj, Brenda, ever was!
@@alexrafe2590 They why did you bring her up lol

I delayed watching this because I didn't think I was ready to deal with her death yet. She's been a part of our childhoods for so many years, from Bedknobs and Broomsticks to Beauty and the Beast, it's hard to imagine a world without her. It's like when we lost Robin Williams.
This was such a lovely tribute to her legacy, so thank you for that 💙. I'll be rewatching Murder She Wrote for the 5 gazillionth time.
I saw her on Broadway in "Sweeney Todd." She was PERFECT. The next day she received a Tony for that performance. She EARNED it.
that must have been amazing, Broadway is the one thing that would appeal to me about living in NYC, that I know of anyway, and the Guggenheim is on my bucket list as well, everything else I've read, seen, or heard about it seems too hurried, small, dirty, and/or mean for me to want to live there, unless I were obscenely rich, in which case I'd want many acres in a forest beside a lake or fast running river somewhere warm
That's what I thought too, until I spent a couple of weeks here and realized it was NOTHING like what I'd been led to believe. Now I've lived here for 25 years and love it with all my heart. @@24get24give
My parents saw Angela in Sweeney Todd in Boston as well. I can only imagine how good it was!
What an incredibly fascinating story. The amount of “no”s she received in her career and she just KEPT GOING. That’s admirable.
I always remember her as the Princess in _The Court Jester._ How she managed to keep a straight face while Danny Kaye was pulling his insane shenanigans, I'll never know. (Glynis Johns was in that one, too.)
Ah, yes! Who can forget that "the vessel with a pestle has the pellet with the poison, but the chalice with a palace has a brew that is true"!😄
When you said that you weren’t exaggerating that Angela Lansbury saved lives, I believe that.
Angela Lansbury always reminded me of my grandmother, and not just because we used to watch murder, she wrote together. We were lucky to have her for as long as we did ❤️💔
Yes. Me too
Angela Lansbury is timeless, and at the same time, it felt like she'd just always be around because she'd always been around.
I'm not crying, you're crying! That "Mame" finale brought tears to the eyes of this old theatre kid. Thanks for another great video, Matt.
Oh my Ms. Landsbury was stunning. If she was considered average or ordinary, then god help me! She will always be remembered for her classy appeal and talent.
Being a gay ally/icon seems to be the secret to a long, happy, well -loved life

Just like cher.
I'm crying, I loved her my entire life and this was a beautiful video getting to learn to love her even more!
I've lived my life completely unaware of her existence (well I guess I did know of Beauty and the Beast but I didn't know it was her) and I never watched an episode of her shows, but I am gonna start now! Thanks for an amazing video in celebration of her for someone who didn't grow up in the West!
This was a BEAUTIFUL Tribute - I wish other Actors would look toward the Angelas and Betty Whites of the screen for lessons in integrity.
Thank you.
I'm not crying. I'm not crying. Oh, who am I kidding? What a consummate performer, what a lovely soul.
Thanks, Matt! What an amazing, impactful life Ms. Lansbury led. She was both aspirational and inspirational.
Matt Baume, you did so amazingly with this video, and I'm so happy you honoured this incredible woman.
What an amazing woman. Thank you for telling her story so beautifully.
She will be missed for so long, thank you for making this video!
So lovable.
MRS. ‘ARRIS GOES TO PARIS is a delightful story! I am so glad you brought that one up, because it is one of my favorites!
An icon, a legend, and an amazing woman.
This woman was a cornerstone of my childhood. Now, I love her even more because there were a lot of things you mentioned that I didn't know.
I don't know if it is flue jab, but I kept on tearing up throughout this video.
Beautifully and lovingly told tribute to an amazing woman.
What a legend, and an icon, and a remarkable talent. Imagine getting Angela Lansbury in a film and dubbing her singing. What a world.
❤ Angela lives on. ❤
She taught us to love, fight, understand with grace, boldness and passion.
My grandmother and I used to watch Murder she wrote together every time I visited. It’s easily my favorite show to watch when I need something fun to distract me. I would love to be like Jessica Fletcher when I’m a grandmother myself. Writing books, solving murders, and looking great while doing it. Angela did a fantastic job bringing her character to life ❤️
A very fine tribute to a lovely human, Matt.
one of your best vids so far, this is such a lovely tribute to Angela Lansbury who deserved nothing but the best.
She was a treasure, this tribute was amazing. I’m sobbing right now
Thank you for this tribute to Angela Lansbury, she truly was a star in all media including as a mother and human being.
Great video! I love Angela Lansbury. First started watching MSW as a kid together with my dear grandma. Greetings from Sweden.
Man... that last clip... beautiful. It really plucks the heartstrings.
Incredible. She was considered "old" during all her life.
Many of us consider her our third grandmother but she was so much more
