i want to specifically thank Travis for believing in me over a decade ago, and bringing it back full circle by opening his house and trusting the vision of creating a new era of pop punk.
this album wasn't planned, I just ended up in Travis's studio one night during a depression period and didn't leave for a month.
the deeper I sunk, the more people wanted to watch.
and I realised, people weren't coming around to watch me fly, they came for the crash

not sure if you knew this before listening but this album was entirely executively produced by Travis Barker.

I really feel like he’s in his element on this album. It was a breath of nostalgia for me. Loved it from start to finish and the tracks on the deluxe edition were fantastic too. Also, I love the 3 part harmony bits too, reminds me a lot of Bad Religion.
If you are looking for more of this he just dropped the deluxe version of this album, "Tickets to my downfall" ) Sold Out Deluxe edition. It has 6 additional songs!!!!! thats like a whole new EP!!!!

Ahh thank you thank you for doing a reaction to the whole album!! This has gotta be one of the best albums of the year alone just for bringing pop punk back cause like you said not too many bands do what he just did anymore, and it brought me back to early blink 182 days which I know has a lot to do with his love for the music and Travis barker legend, but taking me back to my chemical romance, taking back Sunday, yellowcard, simple plan, and all those bands we grew up loving. Also can we just take time to really appreciate mgks vocals like he really does have the voice for this genre, and how he told a story with this. Also let’s appreciate the banyan tree interlude cause not only is it cute but those like 15 seconds of mgks vocals are my favorite on the album and I loved his voice on the other tracks but I’m obsessed with this album. I loved your reaction best one I’ve seen by far I love watching you react cause you can tell how much you love music, and I love seeing someone get as hyped as me! Haha

MGK is a great live performer!! Actually it’s one of the facts why his fans are that loyal, his stage energy in on another level. And I love that you pointed out that he’s bold for choosing to go in this direction with a full album, he’s a Pop punk kid at heart, he’s been wanting to do this since the beginning, he said he wasn’t confident enough before, but I’m glad he’s following his passion. Also MGK loves Juice’s music and they were friends, I think he went for that vibe on purpose with “I don’t know nothing” and he loved Lil Peep too, if you react to the Deluxe version of the album you will notice the last song “Can’t look back” is on Peep’s vibes. As for the song “Lonely”, he added it to the album after his dad passed away and he said every single time he tried to record it he started crying in front of everybody. He never had a “good” relationship with his father, in fact he dissed him in his last album “Hotel Diablo” with the song “Burning Memories” and talks about him Alain in “Death to my pockets”, till some time ago when they talked and he had the opportunity to tear up his walls and let his father in his heart, but he died right after.

Great reaction! Love that you mentioned Misfits, Pennywise, and AFI. It's nice to have someone with knowledge of punk/pop punk further back than just Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and TBS. (All great bands but it didn't start with them.) Love this album. I really hope it will pave the way for more like it from not just MGK but all that try.

As a metal/rock fan I really appreciate artists like MGK and Miley Cyrus creating albums that incorporate more rock/pop punk vibes and bringing them to a more main stream audience. There still is good rock out there but the problem is the genre is very forgotten unless you really search for it. I’m hopeful that there can be a trend for more artists to explore these types of influences because I’m all for it.
