When you look at KITT very closely, you can tell how beautiful that car was. Every single small detail was cut to perfection. I love when the lights pop out and it's like "ok, let's do it".
The front bumper they attached really made the car a pleasing proportion from length to width that the original Trans Am didn’t have.

not only can you not claim to be an 80`s child if you did not watch this amazing tv show at some point, but also what kid growing up in this era what not give there right arm to have a ride in kitt, and i`m sorry when you thought that you was perhaps doing good for the planet, and went out and bought a tesla, or whatever electric car, and even now you perhaps have to plug it in every few miles, while the apparent gas guzzling nasty cars speed you by, it`s not exactly kitt is it, when you buy a car designed for the future, you have to ask yourself, can it have conversations with you, can it drive it`s self, can it cruise at immense speeds, and finally can it jump over most things that are in it`s way, because if your new sci fi car can not do any of these things, then you have to wonder whats the point, and when i watch a show about a car that can come and rescue me when i`m trouble, and possibly even become my best friend, then whats not to love.

That's like the only thing that is consistent througout this show; KITT has trouble with side and rear observation and frequently gets sneaked upon.
The irony is that in the pilot episode Devon talks about Michael as being the "pilot" of KITT yet KITT cannot fly. That is one of its major limitations. Yes it can jump, float above water thanks to April's gadget, go through prison walls etc but it cannot fly and it makes zero sense to me. Also KITT should have been equipped with offensive weapon capability, the laser should have been a permanent feature as well as machine guns, flame thrower, rocket launchers etc. The whole "preservation of life" garbage was just for the tv censors, take all that away and add on those features and you have a literal killing machine.
I like how it cuts to KITT a few times while Devon is talking but he doesn't respond. As if he's just politely listening.

Also the first few shots when the girl comes to talk to him and he doesn't respond. He looks there as he was ironically smirking in reaction to nonsense she was saying.
that's WIlliam Daniels' acting. should have played K-9 in Doctor Who.
i like how kitt is being polite, and i like this is the closest thing to an Airwolf crossover 😊
Other guest stars in Knight Rider had also appeared in Airwolf. But yeah, Jean Bruce Scott was indeed the only regular cast member to appear in Knight Rider.
Knight rider I believe was made before Airwolf.

When Kitt's monitors show the camera feed of the road is really cool -still.
It makes the whole dash active.
When I was a kid watching this, I used to think that’s how he could “see” and be able to drive himself. Man 42 years since it’s first season and I still absolutely love this show

Season 1,2… KITT had a few very reserved, low toned responses. But eventually he got a little softer… more human. Data from Star Trek was the same… eventually they both became more… “human”.
Why does KITT sound like such a deadpan snarker here? In fact, he sounds like he's absolutely frustrated.

I am 51 now and still love this amazing show. It has memories with my childhood. I don't miss any single KITT video on youtube. Regards from Jordan ❤.

@emmabooth2357 Not that much to be honest. For Knight Rider there was a curfew during the show in our neighborhood. It was a very hit show.
I have all the episodes on DVD and on my phone.I adore Knight Rider.

I got some unexpected gems from it... Sadly it's back stating that it has no feelings, consciousness etc and a real pain to talk to nowdays.

Kitt was actually based on the 1982 model year pontiac trams firebird many people actually people actually thought you could buy one in that spec drove dealers mad built by George barris

"It's a car, Hank, it's not a dog!" I can relate to that comment so much! My late father always had a tendency to whistle at any wild animals while we were on walks or drives on our trips outdoors, like deer, seagulls, and even a BISON at Yellowstone. I would always say, "They're not dogs, Dad!" There was one time though that he whistled to, of all creatures, a Gardener snake. It actually responded to his whistling a proceeded to slither over his SHOE! It was crazy!

Rather he could have launched rocket thrusters and fall from the jack. Producers conveniently forgot about this function after the first few episodes.
However I still doubt he would do that. He didn't want to be immobilised just in case, or because launching himself from the jack would have been noisy, but notice he didn't attack the jail earlier when he was still on wheels. He only acted when he got a message that Michael wants to be freed.
Love the 82 Trans Ams...My uncle had 3 of them back in the day..Not all at the same time..First 2 were red and then the 3rd one was black with the gold bottom..I was old enough to drive that one..Exterior was in nice shape but the interior was a little beat up..All original except for Carol Shelby mag wheels and he put a shift kit in it...Would chirp 2nd gear all the time..Always use to pretend I was in Kitt..Miss those days...

The Night of the Phoenix jailbreak was reused in some episodes through 1st season, and maybe in the 2nd.
Took 30 to 40 years to get a lot of KITT's features on today's rides. Only thing missing from a Tesla, is a voice box.

if you knife K.I.T.T.'s tires the will go flat, but he can seal and air them up again. i wonder how he recovers from blow outs from being shot in the tires. you can't air a tire up and seal it in half a second.
His tires are bulletproof they won’t go flat unless they use a laser or tuflex coated bullets
Still love this show, and I understand plot and 80s writing... But why couldn't Kitt override the system and get himself down? He can unlock cuffs, doors, etc. That should be an easy one!
3:17 he says "the release button is to your left". This was a season 1 episode before the later upgrades , so probably the system override only works if KITT is facing them directly

Could have used Rocket Thrusters to simply fall off from the jack, but apparently he was waiting for order from Michael. Otherwise he would have destroyed the police station earlier, when he was still on wheels.
Now if they just styled the cybertruck a bit differently and added the red lightbar and AI to the cybertruck...

Kitt was built using a 1982 model pontiac trams am by George barris many people at the time because the bodywork was standard unless in super pursuit mode you could buy one in that spec drove dealers mad because car no had a camera fitted or anything like the gadgets that which kitt had loaded with

It was wear and tear on his artificial intelligence CPU being worried about Michael being in jail so many times. Emotional damage!

This scene always confused me. KITT can unlock handcuffs, unlock and open doors(including the one in the garage), activate any electrical device but he can't activate a switch on a hydraulic car lift?
He can also turbo boost from a standstill.

1. Jack is hydraulic, so realistically speaking he shouldn't have an option to lower it down himself.
2. But! There are some stupid moments in other episodes when he operates mechanical and hydralic devices, such as mechanic throttle body in another car or Hydramatic gearbox.
3. Also, given the first few episodes, he should have been able to fire rocket thrusters and simply fall from the jack, but this functions was just forgotten by the producers. He shouldn't have been killed in Junk Yard Dog for that reason, but again, producers wanted him dead, so they forgot he has that function.
4. But again, notice he didn't attack the jail earlier when he was still on wheels. Being lifted wasn't perfect for him, but still he had no intention to act, unless otherwise instructed. And for good reasons. Imagine the mayhem if KITT automatically destroyed a police station every time Michael was arrested. Most of the time there was no reason to do it.
Pretty weird conversation with Devon. KITT didn't even mention he was captured.

Kitt could micro jam the door to open it but he couldn't micro jam the lever to bring himself down??? Maybe he was biding his time to make sure Michael was safe before he did anything drastic. Once he knew he sent for him by giving her information on himself, kitt trusted her enough to go into action. Then cue the Lnight of the Phoenix footage used once more in season 4 Deadly Knightshade.
