John Tortorella is always mentioned because he has the biggest personality of all the coaches and is a huge hothead which sometimes can be pretty entertaining
1:32 John Tortorella (Torts) is definitely... a character, to say the least. He's one of the more "old school" coaches and probably the most outspoken one... if you remember the last video about the NHL's so-called "hitting problem", he was the one complaining about players not being able to hit or receive a hit properly (he's right... but to an extent). Anyway, a funny situation happened last season when a questionable penalty was called against Tort's team, resulting in a power play goal for the other team. Torts started screaming at the refs, for which he was assessed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty AND a game misconduct (meaning he's ejected, so the assistant coach would take over for the rest of the game). But Torts WOULDN'T leave. "I'm not f*cking going, tell HIM to go. I'm staying right f*cking here! Just play, f*ck off... no, f*ck no! I'm staying right f*cking here! He even started directing his players to get on or off the ice, as if the game misconduct meant nothing to him. "Tell him to come over here then..." (referring to one of the refs) "...I want to talk to him before I leave. You're all f*cking awful. Bunch of motherf*ckers. That's f*cking bullsh*t." It was at that moment Torts stormed off into the team's locker room. His team lost 7-0.
I've seen a few Torts comments but nobody ahs mentioned he is a great coach for blue collar players. If you have a team full of mid players and no superstars he's your man, he will keep you in the game and sometimes get you to the playoffs. He tends to lose the team when he has high skill players on his team and his methods have a shelf life with teams.
There are lots of different shot types but the key ones are: Wrist Shot: The player pulls the puck behind him without winding his stick up, applies torque on the stick and flips the wrist over while extending to create power Snap Shot: Like a fast wrist shot that does not use wind up and instead uses a shift of balance on the feet to lean on the stick and create torque to give a fast and sneaky release Slap Shot: The big windup you saw, is not needed anymore as sticks are so flexy you can get the flex with a wrist shot instead of a full slap windup Tips: Less a shot and more just contacting the puck with your own stick after someone else shoots it, great highlights of these One Timers/One Tee's: Usually uses a half slap shot to release the puck quickly as it arrives, these are insanely timed and you will see the player apply torque to the stick while the puck is on route to the player and release the torque created at the moment the puck arrives. Hope these help some on your continued hockey journey, love seeing people find hockey and build a passion for it, amazing sport.
Torts isn’t the best coach but he’s for sure a well seasoned one. No one really talks best coach ever in hockey. I know Scotty bowman used to be talked about in that way but u don’t hear that argument very much now
Hockey Psychology is great at breaking down the game! He makes these weekly recaps of games in the league that are really entertaining as well if u wanna check those out and catch up on the season
If you want to see a player that doesnt fit the mold of what teams are looking for offensively, people call the red wings crazy for drafting him. Watch Moritz Seider highlights. There is a pretty good compilation of his best hits from his rookie season that won him the Calder trophy that I highly recommend

You should react to Dominik Hasek's best saves if you haven't already, very exciting saves

I have 2 players tied as my favorites. McDavid and Mackinnon.
React to NHL Hip check mixtape. Make sure it’s the mixtape one though.
Patrice Bergeron was my favorite player. He probably will always be.
