That wave surfing animation with Funky Kong is his anti-gravity animation. Every character has them! You only get those in an anti-gravity section (including half pipes), and only if you jump boost neutral or spinning to the side; forward flips and backwards flips don't trigger it.

You were talking about the ‘riding the surfboard’ animation not showing up as often as others. During my years on the Wii U version of the game, I noticed that there are 2 animations that always play in order. Now on certain ramps, a third animation will play, in funky’s case it being ‘the surfing’ animation. Like I said, only certain ramps. So it only appears on those. UNLESS, you flick the stick and do a frontflip for example. Then one of the normal animations will play instead. As far as I remember though, the third animation will be stored in the memory and will play on the following ramp (can be any ramp) once again, if you don’t flick the stick and spin around. Anyone’s free to correct me on this, but i played so much mk8 on the Wii U back then that I just had to explain my view. Hopefully it makes a bit more sense to why the surfing animation is more rare
The third trick animation is reserved for anti-gravity, which is why it seems more rare. Also the game cycles through trick animations to make sure the same one isn't performed twice in a row, unless gliding is involved

Wii Rainbow Road will probably always be my favorite Mario Kart track. To me it is what all Rainbow Roads should be, Visually amazing, hard af, and a perfect finally.
For me it will always be Moonview Highway as I mastered it well using the Wii Wheel and for someone who doesn't like Rainbow Roads, Moonview Highway is one of the few tracks I never rage on.
The way trick animations work is that every character has 6 trick animations, 3 for carts and 3 for all bike types and quads. For both vehicle types, 2 animations are normal animations that you can trigger basically at any trickspot, these 2 will just infinitely cycle through and one of them is also used for gliders/canons. For funky, these 2 on the bike are the one where he makes a V shape and the one where he chills on his surfboard. The other trick animation (for funky on bike it's the one where he rides the wave) is a special trick animation that you can only trigger on specific trick locations (the second booster ramp on gba marios circuit, the first ramp on shy guy falls, the ramps on the antigravity section on toads harbor, the last 2 ramps on cheese land and many more...). You can only trigger it with a neutral or sideways trick; a front- or backflip with the vehicle will play the normal trick animation, so don't move your control stick or dpad up or down during the trick. The animation can also not play twice in a row, the second trick from a special ramp in a row (no matter how much time passes in between the tricks) will have a normal animation, unless you used a normal trick in between. I don't think the special trick gives any more speed than a normal one, so all of this Information is pretty much useless. Enjoy!

the thing you say that looks like coconut mall in Madrid is actually a train station called Atocha. here in spain the train industry is really important as we were one of the first countries in europe to have high velocity trains. Also it is like really big and once it was full of turtles for some reason 😂
As I’ve been watching, I’m pretty sure the “short cut” on daisy circuit is slower unless you have a mushroom. The only way it could be faster is if it means you avoid the other racers and avoid their items, which means you could technically go faster. But the person in front of them always gets further away when anyone takes the cut shroomless
its a safer way cuz of the glider and it gives an opportunity to mitigate the damage of the shock. plus it gets a double item box. it might be slower in a vaccuum, but its a good strat in the right situations.
In order to get stuck around DK summit's final turn you have to come in at a very shallow angle and trick to the inside as soon as you take off in the air. It's the same idea as Waluigi Circuit.
In all the Mario Kart 8 videos proceeding the release of Wave 6, I've noticed that each time Funky rode the wave, you were in anti-gravity. My hypothesis is that every character has two unique trick animations for each area. Normal, Anti-grav, and underwater. Now, whether the underwater anti-grav has separate tricks is beyond me, but the hypothesis still stands.
So I’m sure you already know this, but apparently the Cat Cruiser and the Teddy Buggy no longer have the exact same stats. Cat Cruiser now has more invincibility, but it also has a slightly bigger hit box. Just some food for thought on which is better
I’ve never played in an all Funky Kong player lobby in MKWii where I’m glad that this is my first time using Funky Kong in an all Funky Kong player lobby where I’m going to use Funky Kong in 8 deluxe more than MKWii since he’s not overused.

WAIT you say “it doesn’t show up as much as the other ones” when talking about funky kongs’ wave trick animation. Did you know that you control which animation plays? Depending on the direction you hit when you trick, you’ll do a different animation. This works for all characters btw.
I honestly think the surfboard tricks are distracting and obfuscate my view of the track for too long. But I won't switch to another character. I use FK with the Flame Rider Bike and Funky Wheels (of course) and standard, Grinning Ape Glider. This is the real meta build.

You need to be on anti gravity and do a neutral trick
it actually happens also in other specific areas, mostly higher ones. One example is that big jump on GBA Mario Circuit, it happens there too.
