"Our verses are a token, crafted to magnify and embody the multitude of emotion that writhes in our subconscious. Sonically our voice is rooted in the resonation between the notes and your emotion. Take our hand" Sleep Token
This version of this song breaks me every time 😢 It's beautiful and tragic. I think the man inside Vessel is(or at least was) terribly broken, and he writes and sings from his soul. While the overarching story he's told us through the last 8 years or so is probably fiction with peaks into real events, that pain is rooted in something real. He has real scars that the black paint can't hide. He openly cries on stage. He feels those lyrics. If this is his journey of letting the past go through storytelling, I hope deep in my being that he is healing and can be truly happy. ❤
This becomes even more painful when you realize: Blood Sport ends with him sobbing despondently, and the next album starts with Atlantic - where he talks about a failed suicide attempt.
Great reaction! Highly recommend to see them live if you have the chance. Last year, Sleep Token had a show at Wembley arena, their first really big "ritual" and I was fortunate enough to attend. Unfortunately, 7 songs in and Vessel voice had kind of given up, they had their drums tech come in with Vessel on stage (the band does not talk at all), and let us know that they will not cancel the gig but we, the crowd, will have to help out Vessel and sing for the rest of the show. He said that Vessel will try to come in when and where he felt like he could sing. I kid you not, the whole crowd cheered immediately and we really delivered 3 entire songs by ourselves. Luckly, Vessel recovered after the 3 song break and started to sing more and more, but the whole audience was backing him up the whole show. The last song he sang was Bloodpsort. To say he, the band and the whole crew was crying is an understatement. There was no dry eye among the 10k people in that arena. It really was magical, we support them whe they needed, felt like we gave back just a bit when their music literally saved so many of us. Have seen them twice last week in O2 and Cardiff and they are really at the top of their game as performers, but for me, Wembley will always be the no. 1 ritual I have attended just because the amazing community feeling we all partook in. Highly recommend watching that performance on your own time, it really is heartbreaking but so filled with gratitude from the band but also from the audience.
I've seen them 3 times in different types of venues, and I think he's one of those rare voices that sounds better live, if you can believe it. He doesn't stick to the script and adds elements that elevate it above what's recorded. And not only can hit all the high notes, screams, and everything in between, he does it while jumping around like a mad rabbit. It's incredible just to watch. And I think he's moved on, but he mines past experiences and that of others to give us a communion of emotion to feast on again and again.
Alright MrLBoyd…I’ve been watching your reactions for years. This is by far my favorite. I could actually see you feeling it rather than only analyzing. And you did both really well. Keep it up my man
He does sound incredible live. I was lucky and got to see them at a very small venue in 22 and it was unreal. There are some songs the emotion breaks through live. His voice catches, he may cry. I was at the rail for the 22 show and all I can say is night of a lifetime. I've seen them since at larger venue. Still great but nothing like that small venue. If you want want more video check out "The love you want", "Fall for me", "Calcutta" all have him in them. Worship
I saw them live a week ago and I have to say it was the BEST concert I've ever been to. His vocals were amazing and the rest of the band were too. I can't describe it, such a surreal experience.
I love this version of Blood Sport, but every time I see this video, my heart breaks a little more for Vessel. He consistently pours his heart *and* soul into every note. ❣Worship❣
Sleep Token live is unlike any experience I've ever had at a concert. You can pick up on the emotion and angst in the studio recordings but nothing like in real life when he's on the verge of cracking from overwhelming emotion on stage. It's the only "metal" concert I've been to that brought me to literal tears. You've reacted to Atlantic and Euclid already, go find the live versions of those songs from the Teeth of God tour and just take it in. I've been to over 30 concerts and Sleep Token was my favorite one.
Seen them live twice and he is amazing. The band is amazing. The emotional energy is awe inducing. It's really something to see and hear. Have you listened to Euclid yet? I hope we are giving him positive energy, he deserves it. Worship ❤️
I love your breakdowns of the lyrics, I love sleep token but I listen to it very superficially mostly enjoying the way it sounds, I listen to the lyrics and they hit me but I don't interpret them anywhere near the depth that you do with one listen and I've listened to probably all of their songs dozens of times lol.
Vessel- was visited in a dream by an ancient deity" that he refers to as Sleep" due to its actual name being impossible to pronounce by modern humans. Sleep" has always existed and is responsible for giving humans dreams and nightmares. Sleep" promised Vessel- glory and magnificence if he followed him/her. Sleep" gives Vessel- dreams and visions, both beautiful and glorious as well as horrific nightmares. All of the songs deal with Vessel's- struggle with this toxic relationship with this deity" that he can only access in his dreams. The songs can also be interpreted as a toxic relationship that Vessel- had with a past partner and all of the fallout from this traumatic experience. Its entirely your discretion how you interpret the songs.
This 'person' you keep referring to that he wants to get back to is his god, Sleep. You should look up the lore of the band for some really good context sometime
I know everyone always jokes about how bad it would be to date Taylor Swift and she writes a song about you. Imagine what it would be like to be Sleep and find out there is a 3 album saga of how poorly you treated him and every one of us hates you to the core of your being.
Thing is these songs are not about "a person" but an eldritch god called sleep the band members where vessels for. And now they would do anything to be a vessel for her again. They never sleep offering their sleep token to offer to yhe godess. But she keeps just ignoring them driving them further into madness

You should really look at their cover of Hallelujah. Absolutely stunning
It's funny that you said, "he's crying for help.." You should listen to the album version, he's literally crying.....love him, worship ❤
This becomes even more painful when you realize: Blood Sport ends with him sobbing despondently, and the next album starts with Atlantic - where he talks about a failed suicide attempt.
Halleluiah live from the room below is pure magic. I highly recommend it.
Great reaction! Highly recommend to see them live if you have the chance.

It was also the one and only time he spoke during a live show. He started Bloodsport with a sob and said ‘thank you’ 🥰

Mad rabbit... HAHA! This is very accurate.
Been to two sleep token shows and I will attend more.
Without question the best live band I've ever seen.
Alright MrLBoyd…I’ve been watching your reactions for years. This is by far my favorite. I could actually see you feeling it rather than only analyzing. And you did both really well. Keep it up my man
As a reactor this guy is top tier. He pays attention and FEELS it.
This was the very first song I heard from Sleep Token. Look at where we are now! Such a crazy journey...

this reaction was my favorite of the hundreds of Sleep Token reactions ive watched, really well done on this song
What a beautiful ending to the video man. I love the ending monologues:)
"The Love You Want" also has a music video and it's one of my favorite songs from them.
I loooooove this performance. He's just so freakin good!
This is why we Worship ❤

This is a beautifully broken, piece of magic that was captured in a moment in time

their "From The Room Below" songs are all live acoustic tracks, That's really him playing piano and singing
He writes ALL the music aside from the percussion. Its insane

I love sleep token so much. Worship
This is by FAR your best reaction. I could see this hitting you. I could of sworn I saw you shake there for a minute.
the pain behind the voice just hits.. keep up the great reviews cheers.
You gotta do Atlantic now!!!! It follows this in order and is one of their best imho
Feel that shit to your bones! Love your channel, brother.
Sleep token incorporate so many different styles of music, but I would say at the heart of it it’s progressive.
Love your Sleep Token reactions. Thank you sir ❤
Check out the song "are you really ok" is incredible - without giving much away i believe it is about him through his mother's eyes - brilliant
One of the most beautiful and painful songs I've heard. Hope he does it.
Another great Sleep Token reaction. Thanks for the content
My life in music
Check out any live video from the "room below" show in London. Vessel live is always a treat :)
Another good reaction!
Thank you for reaction ❤
The album version is also incredible
I love your breakdowns of the lyrics, I love sleep token but I listen to it very superficially mostly enjoying the way it sounds, I listen to the lyrics and they hit me but I don't interpret them anywhere near the depth that you do with one listen and I've listened to probably all of their songs dozens of times lol.
If you listen to all the albums in order, the whole story comes to an extremely satisfying conclusion.
This was the first ST album I bought, taking a chance. Their appeal is that they cross so many genres.
Highly reccomend “The Love you Want” music video. Song is prime and video is great.
IM PRETTY SURE HE IS ACTUALLY TALKING ABOUT HIMSELF
I would love to see you react to the song by sleep token called fall for me
I recommend Jutes sleepyhead or vertigo

Of course he is dubbing, can't you see what he's supposedly playing and finger movements??? However he is able to deliver, check some live videos....
I might be misinterpreting the songs, but I think he is singing about his god Sleep.
Atlantic next
He has moved on. That's what the album Take Me Back To Eden is about. =)
React to connor price - the basics . U wont be disappointed
Love the song but its better with the rest of the instrumental
🥲🥲

I think about this all the time like some woman out there knows that every single one of these songs is about her 😂
First?

Id love to see your reaction to Vessel singing Hallelujah. Its beautiful and live

Wrong version. Should've done the album version with the band. This is for the sycophants that love seeing Vessel in his mask.
I can't stand it when someone calls music emo music. It sounds shallow to me. ALL music is emotional in one way or another.
Pausing and analyzing lyrical meaning after second sentence. Nope, I'm out. ✌️
