Decided to change careers as a 32yo and have started my apprenticeship as a motorcycle mechanic recently. I have found your vids incredibly helpful for working on my own tuono v4 1100 at home. thanks for showing everything in such detail, it's great to watch someone with so much knowledge work away and explain everything. wish I had chased my dreams earlier because working on bikes has been the best choice i've ever made. I'm a bit late on the vids being 2022 but the info is on point.
I'll do it on my zx6r first to get comfortable on it and just to get familiar. It will be my first time diving beyond the air filter but I've done soooo much research lol
The Muscle Biker, I recently bought a Tuono factory and plan to keep up with the maintenance myself so the more videos I can watch to educate myself the more confident I'll be.
Hello Shaun, Thank you for putting this video on you tube. I have a question and I hope you can help me. I own 2020 RSV4. I was on the track coming of a turn to a straight way. As I was shifting up to pick up speed my shifter stock on the 4rd gear and did not want to shift. I was lucky not to be ramed by someone from the back and came of the track safe. After further inspection, the bike start with no problem and shift but it is make a loud rattle noise as something is loose or broken but I can ride it. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you
I does the same operation on my MV agusta F4 1000R for the 2nd gear, the cassette gear box technologie is really a good thing , one of my friends with an BMW S1000RR k12 need to completely disassemble the engine ....
I'll be doing this work when I replace the heads. I dont know when I'll be doing this though, good used parts are hard to find. I'll post on here when I get started.
Hi There I would like to confirm if 2010RSV4 does have the same amount of friction disks? And what would be the order including the two metal rings? On your video, the fast part shows exactly what I am searching for, but to fast! I Am putting one togheter! Thanks!
Great video! My 2011 rsv4 has a throw in the clutchdiscs. Theyre not flat anymore. Is it enough to just change them or do i need to replace other parts aswell? Around 9 minutes into your video you take them out. Will i fix my problem to do that and put some new ones in? Thanks!
Take a look at the plates and see if there is any unusual wear. Sometimes a warped disc can affect the nearby plates but not always. You might be fine just replacing the damaged one.
Go to 4:45 to see the cassette being removed. If you need help removing the shaft from the cluster the best thing to do is look at a parts diagram. That will show you exactly what parts come off and in what order. I havent done this as a used cluster was cheaper than a new shaft.
Hey Shaun, i see ya using akra long cans as in world sbk series.. is it because of noise regulation or does it offers more hp vs exhaust like AR racing or SC project?
This is a full titanium system. The main reason I bought it was because the dealer had the right ECU map to match this exhaust, and the weight. Its muuuch lighter than stock headers and a slipon.
Hi Shaun! Please, would you give me a hint, where can I get the original parts for RSV4 2012 (specifically gearbox parts)? In Europe it´s impossible to get them...
Hi Tellbrack, I'm sorry I dont know anything about parts availability in Europe. Here in the USA we use eBay for used parts as new parts are way too expensive.
was that a clip or something that was installed wrong on the gearbox? was it simply not pushed flush? Would you care to post the dimensions of the cam gear holder tool? And last question, are you from New Zealand?
Its a bearing retainer that should have been beside the locator pin. Whoever installed it at the factory screwed up and put the retainer over the top of the pin and tightened it down. Doing this bent the retainer - it was just one of the problems I'll scan the cylinder head and post dimensions I grew up in Australia!
i currently have an oil leak on mine and suspect it to be that sensor at 7:26. is there an o ring in the casing where that sensor goes? on mine it almost seems like theres a spot for one but nothing in it. I noticed on yours it doesn't look like there is....?
Hi mate rsv4r not starting on first fire up need to twist throttle (bike don't want to idle at all revs go to 1,000 then cuts out . but when bike reaches 84 degrees bike then runs fine and smooth as silk but until it reaches that temp it will cut out without revs 2011 model, is this the symptoms you described .ie do I need to get the valves reset not had service ii changed oil n filter my self any help would be great cheers
jeff fenn does the engine start easily? If it doesn't the problem could very likely be valve clearances, or it could be a problem with the torque demand sensor. Best thing would be to take it to a dealership who can read the fault codes. If there are none it's an easy fix with a valve adjust.

actually no. The ZX-6 from 2013 also has a cassette, plus a few others, like certain cbr1000 and even some BMW touring bikes. The Suzuki 2-strokes I raced in the 90's had it, so its nothing new.

Best of luck. Glad I can help
I don't have an rsv4 but I watch your videos like I do...
Thanks. Next up is repairing the damage from the transmission reinstall, then I'll be doing a fork refresh
Hey man no shame in that, i don't either. Same principals apply to lots of other bikes :P
Wow that idle sounds sooo smooth! I'm going to adjust mine very soon thanks for sharing again!
The Muscle Biker can I expect to see that video on your channel? if so looking forward to it

No chicken strips on the tyres. Well done Shaun! At the very least you are not just a chocolate soldier!
Thanks. I had to look up 'chocolate soldier'.
I love bike Mechanic work

MV is beautiful. Just revived a 750 F4 after many years of neglect.
Your videos are awrsome sir , one question how to lock the timing chain tensioner in case of timing chain replacement , thank you

"... so far this is the only mistake that I haven't seen repeated ..." That sounds pretty alarming.

Hi man, Thank you for the great effort. Do you know if a 2016 rf clutch housing/basket will fit into 2011 model or not? any differences. Thanx
Sorry, I've never worked on the 2011 so I cant say either way.
i have a slightly bent input shaft in mine after an accident can you explain or show how to remove the shaft from the box and replace? many thanks

Hi Testing, I just uploaded a video of the sensor with an upclose view of the o-ring.

is Aprilia rsv4 the only easily removable cassette style transmission?
actually no. The ZX-6 from 2013 also has a cassette, plus a few others, like certain cbr1000 and even some BMW touring bikes. The Suzuki 2-strokes I raced in the 90's had it, so its nothing new.
Will you take off the gear position sensor when you reinstall the cassette?
No need - the whole cassette slides back in. I'll upload the reinstallation video shortly.
These speeded up vids I don’t like
